Biographical Information
Robert D. Russell (PhD New Mexico, 1971).
After holding a faculty position at Colorado State University, he joined
the faculty of Simon Fraser University in 1972 where he is currently
a Professor of Mathematics and the director of Centre for Scientific
Computing. He has been elected a Fellow of the Society for
Industrial and Applied Mathematics in 2009. His research interests
are in the numerical solution of partial differential equations
using adaptive methods, particularly moving grid methods. He
received the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Research Prize
in 2004. He is one of the five ISI Highly Cited Canadian Researchers
in Mathematics and Statistics. He is associate editor for the SIAM
Journal on Numerical Analysis. He was associate editor for the SIAM
Journal on Scientific Computing. He has held several visiting
professorship positions at Imperial College, Stanford, Central
University of Venezuela, Catholic University of Chile, University of
Auckland. He is also a founding member and a past president of the Canadian Applied Industrial Mathematics Society (CAIMS).
