Biographical Information
Bruno Nachtergaele (PhD K.U. Leuven, 1987).
After holding
several research and faculty positions at the K.U. Leuven,
University of Chile, and Princeton University, he joined the University
of California at Davis in 1996 where he is currently Professor of
and Chair of Mathematics. He was an invited speaker at the
International Congress of Mathematicians, Beijing, 2002, and has been
elected a Fellow of the American Association for the
Advancement of Science in 2007. Since January 2009, he has served as
Vice-President of the International Association of Mathematical Physics.
His general research area is Mathematical Physics. His main interests
are equilibrium and non-equilibrium statistical mechanics, quantum
spin systems, quantum information, and applications of these fields
in condensed matter physics. He has held visiting positions at the Newton
Institute (Cambridge, UK), the CNRS (Luminy, France),
Erwin Schrodinger Institute (Vienna), ETH (Zurich), University of
Marseille, The Courant Institute (New York University), and
the University of Bologna. He is the editor of the Journal of
Mathematical Physics.
