Possibly this might be Thomas' baptism record from Stour Provost:
Thomas, base born son of Elizabeth Pike of Stour Provost, baptised 4 June 1843If so, then this entry from the 1851 UK census at Stour Provost may be relevant: Stephen Pike head widower 78 Elizabeth Pike daughter unmarried 37 Emily Pike granddaughter 18 William Pike grandson 14 Thomas Pike grandson 7Marriage record from Stourpaine: Thomas Pike, 22, bachelor, Labourer, resident at Stourpaine, father: Moses Pike, shoemaker Phyllis Jeans, 21, spinster, resident at Stourpaine, father: George Jeans, labourer 31 March 1863 witnesses: William [Dominey or Donning], Jane GoddardThe 1871 UK census lists the following family in Stourpaine. Thomas Pike head 27 Ag Lab Dorset Stour Provost Phillis Pike wife 28 Glover Dorset Stourpaine John Pike son 8 Dorset Stourpaine William Pike son 5 Dorset StourpaineIn the 1881 census, Thomas and Phillis are listed at Stourpaine, but with no children living with them... Thomas' place of birth is given as Stour Row this time though. Phillis appears to have died in Q3 1883. In Dec 1884 widower Thomas Pike remarries to Mary Street. The marriage banns appears to have been published at Stourpaine, while the marriage itself seems to have happened at Compton Pauncefoot in Somerset [which was Mary's place of residence]. The marriage record says Thomas was of "full age", a widower, gardener, and that his father was William Pike, shoemaker. Thomas, Mary, and a daughter Cicely are listed in the 1891 census at Stourpaine; Thomas is listed as age 48, general labourer, and born at Stour Row. The 1901 census lists Thomas, Mary and Cicely at Steepleton Iwerne. Thomas is now 57, a woodman and thatcher, born at Stour Row. The 1911 census lists Thomas, Mary and Cicely back in Stourpaine. Thomas is now 68, formerly a thatcher, and born at Stour Provost. |
