Remarks: | Thomas wrote a will on 20 March 1703 (to see a transcript of it, click here) in which he identifies himself as a mariner about to make a voyage to Newfoundland. In his will he named two of his four sons, namely Thomas and John. One year and five days later, on New Year's Day 25 March 1705, Thomas' son William was apprenticed at Portsmouth and was described as "William Pike sonne of Susanna Pyke of Pooll widow" so clearly Thomas had died, likely sometime in 1704. |

Remarks: |
Of the six sons of John Pike (i.e., the John for Generation #9), Timothy is known to have lived at Portsmouth, Francis at Newport IOW,
and Edward may well have been the Lt Edward Pike who was killed in action in South Carolina in 1776.
Hence the most likely candidates for the identity of this Pike (i.e., the fellow for Generation #8) are Moses, John or William.
Although the name of this person (i.e., the fellow for Generation #8) is not currently known, it is known that he had children who resided at/near Carbonear in Newfoundland: Francis (see below), William, Edward, Catherine (wife of William Taylor), Mary (wife of John Parsons), as well as a daughter Julia who married Lt Thomas Edwards of Gosport. |
