Frederick and Julia's marriage is in the Carbonear Anglican records.

Alfred was lost at sea in 1914 with the wreck of the

The Newfoundland civil registration records contain an entry for the death of a James A Pike, aged 42, of Carbonear, who died on 31 March or 1 April 1912 on board the SS Southern Cross. The Newfoundland civil registration records contain an entry for the death of a Mary Ann Pike of Carbonear who died on 15 September 1919 at age 30. Possibly this might have been Alfred's widow. |
Generation #3

Marriage: | |||
Death: | 27 April 1973 | ||
Spouse/Partner: | Flora Elizabeth PIPPY | ||
Birth: | |||

Remarks: |
Reuben's birth appears to have been incorrectly registered with the surname BUTT, and with a different middle name.
Specifically, the civil registration records show that a child named Reuben Alfred was born at Carbonear on 16 January 1910
to parents named Alfred and Mary A BUTT. The child was baptised on 12 February 1910.
The 1921 Newfoundland census lists the following at Carbonear: Frederick Pike M head m Dec 1875 45 Carbonear Augusta Pike F wife m 1873 48 Carbonear Reuben Pike M nephew Jan 1910 11 CarbonearInformation from a family Bible reveals that Edward Frederick Pike was born on 23 December 1877, and that his wife Augusta Jane (nee Earle) was born 24 June 1822 [sic... it appears that the person who checked the Bible likely wrote down the wrong year for Augusta's birth] Reuben's headstone can be seen in this photo. |
