Subject: Three New Results

Hi everybody.

I have several things to mention in this newsletter, beginning with some
new results from the FamilyTreeDNA lab.

First of all, 37-marker results are now available for two new project
members with kit numbers 154927 and 160783. Currently they are both
anonymous so I can't say anything about their family history just yet.
However, I can point out they match each other on 36 out of their 37
markers, and so there is no doubt that they are related to one another.
Moreover, their DNA profiles are different from all of our other project
members, so we now have a new "Group 16" on our project's webpage for DNA
Results:
http://www.math.mun.ca/~dapike/family_history/pike/DNA/index.php?content=results.html#Group16

Next up is another anonymous fellow, with kit number 160167. He tested 37
markers and is a perfect 37-marker match with some of the members of our
project's "Group 8" clan. This is only the sixth time that our project
has experienced a perfect 37-marker match. Although we don't yet have
details to share about 160167's ancestry, the known origins of our "Group
8" so far include Adair County in Kentucky, Robertson County in Tennessee,
and Edgefield County in South Carolina.

Many people are aware that our project has a sponsorship fund that we use
to help fund DNA tests for newcomers to our project, especially if they
come from Pike lineages that aren't yet represented among the DNA results
already on hand. Recently somebody contacted me and expressed an interest
in providing sponsorships in support of Pike lineages that stretch back to
the early 1700s in Dorset. I'm trying to spread the news that such
support might be available, and would like to ask anybody who might have
early Pike ancestry in Dorset to get in touch with me.

Details about other sponsorships that we currently have available, as well
as how to make contributions towards sponsorships, can be found at
http://www.math.mun.ca/~dapike/family_history/pike/DNA/index.php?content=join.html#Sponsorships

Something else that I would like to ask is that if anybody knows of any
Pike family reunions that are being planned, then can they also get in
touch with me. Stuart has drafted a short brochure about our project that
would be suitable to distribute at such events, and would hopefully help
to recruit more participants from different branches of various Pike
family trees.

Sincerely,

- David.
