Subject: [PIKE-DNA] Four New Results
Hi everybody.
Over the past few weeks 4 new test results have come out from
the FTDNA lab. Two of these 4 had results that showed that they
belong to "Group 1" on our webpage for test results:
http://www.math.mun.ca/~dapike/family_history/pike/DNA/index.php?content=results.html
The other two results, however, had no matches with anybody else
in our project, and so we now have evidence of at least 16 different
Pike families. The latest collection of test results also bring
the tally of Pike families that have lived in Massachusetts up to
at least 7. The tally for Iowa has now also increased to at least 4
Pike families.
Among the new results that fits into "Group 1" are those for James (62921).
His 25-marker results show that he is related to John Pike who settled
in Massachusetts in 1635. However, like several others who do not have a
documented connection to John, James has a value of 24 for his DYS-390 marker.
Also of interest is that James' results differ by only 1 marker from those of
Peggy's brother John (24697), and that both James and Peggy trace their Pike
ancestry back to North Carolina.
On a logistical note, over the next several weeks I may not be able to
respond to email very effeciently. In a few days I will be departing
to attend the Pike families reunion at the base of Pikes Peak, after
which I will spend a few weeks hiking, sightseeing, and being a tourist
in and around Colorado.
- David.
