In the Name of God Amen
I Richard Pyke of the Parish of Saint Andrew Holborn and 
Citizen and Glover of London being of sound and well
disposing Mind Memory and understanding (praised be God
therefore) do make this my last Will and Testament first
I Commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God and my
Body I Commit to the Earth to be decently interred according 
to the Discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named and as 
to my Worldly Goods Chattels and Estate as it hath pleased
God to bless me withall I give and dispose thereof as 
followeth first I Will and direct that all my just Debts shall
in the first place be fully paid and satisfied and after 
payment thereof I give devise and bequeath unto my
son John Pyke the Sum of three hundred pounds to be paid 
to him at his age of twenty and two years But and if my said 
son shall happen to die before he shall have attained his
said Age of twenty and two years unmarried and without
Issue of his Body lawfully begotten Then I give the said
Legacy of three hundred Pounds and all other Sum and
Sums of Money which I have hereby given unto him unto
my dear Wife Martha Pyke But and if my said Son shall
die before his said Age of twenty and two years and leave 
any lawful Issue of his Body Then my Will is that the 
said Legacy of three hundred Pounds and all other Sum
and Sums of Money which he may be intitled unto by virtue 


of this my Will shall go and be paid and I give the same unto
such his lawful Issue equally to e divided between them share
and share aliek if more than one and if but one then all to
that one Provided always and my Will is that if my Wife (my
Executrix) shall Intermarry with any other Man before my said
son shall attain his said Age of twenty and two years Then I 
give and bequeath unto him my said son the Sum of five
hundred pounds Instead of the said Legacy of three hundred
pounds to be paid to him at his said age of twenty and two
years
  But if my said Wife shall intermarry
  with any other Man after my said Son
  shall have attained his said age of twenty
  and two years
  then my said Wife (my Executrix) shall pay and I give
unto my said Son the further sum of two hundred pounds 
besides the said Legacy of three hundred pounds in order to
make up the said three hundred pounds full five hundred
pounds and my Will is that all Money Legacys which I have
by this my Will given unto my said son shall be placed out
at Interest on good securities either publick or private as soon 
as conveniently may be after my decease to be secured for him
until the same shall become payable according to this my
Will Also I give and bequeath unto my said son John Pyke
all my Wearing Apparel whatsoever and also my Silver
Watch and also all my Rings and all my Silver Buckles to
be delivered to him immediately after my decease and my
Will and Mind is and I order and direct that my said Wife 
shall and do out of what I shall have hereby given and
bequeathed unto her find provide for and deliver unto my said
son all necessary Cloathing and Apparel whatsoever fitting
and sufficient for his Wearing and use and also that she
shall from time to time find and provide for him my said
son all necessary Washing and also all mending and repairs 
of his Clotheing and apparel and also all proper Tools and
utensils of his Trade fitting and necessary for his Trade of a 
Coachmaker to which he is now apprentice for and during all
the remainder of his time of apprenticeship according to my
agreement and undertaking with his Master and as to all
the Rest Residue and Remainder of my ready Money and
Securitys for Money and Interest thereof Plate Household
Goods Linnen Stock and Goods in Trade Money due and
owing unto me and all other my Goods Chattels and Estate
both Real and Personal whatsoever and wheresoever
not hereinbefore given and bequeathed I give devise and
bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said
dear Wife Martha Pyke her Heirs Executors Admors and
assigns for ever and my Will is and I order and direct that
my said son shall at his attaining his said age of twenty
and two years and on due payment to him of the said 
Legacys as above mentioned make seal and deliver unto
my said Executrix hereinafter named a full and reasonable
Release and discharge for and against all other Claims and
Demands whatsoever which he shall set up have or make
to any other part of my Estate and Effects over and besides
the said Legacys hereby given unto him and on his refusal
to execute and deliver such said Release and discharge 


as aforesaid then I declare the said Legacy of three hundred
pounds to him bythis my Will given to be unttery void and
the same shall not be paid unto him as above mentioned
but shall go and be unto my said Wife To whom in that
Case I hereby give the same and I make Nominate
declare and appoint my said dear Wife Martha Pyke sole
Executrix of this my will In Witness whereof I have to this
my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this twenty
seventh day of October in the twenty second year of the Reign
of our Sovereign Lord George the second over Great Britain
of and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred
and forty eight Richd Pyke signed sealed published and 
declared by the said Richard Pyke the Testator as and to
be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who
subscribed our Names hereto in the presence of the said
Testator Jno Davis Wm Keene Geo Farrin

On the twenth ninth day of April in the year of our
Lord One thousand seven hundred and seventy four
administration with the Will annexed of all and singular the Goods Chattels
and Credits of Richard Pyke formerly of the Parish of 
Saint Andrew Holborn London but late of the City of 
Oxford deceased was granted to John Pyke the natural 
and lawful son of the said deceased having been first
sworn duly to administer Martha Pyke Widow the
Relict of the said deceased sole Executrix and Residuary 
Legatee named in the said Will dying in the life time of 
the Testator
