In the name of God Amen The
seaventh daie of August Anno Domini One Thowsand six hundred thirtye and
eight And in the Fowerteenth yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles 
by the grace of God King of England Scotland France and Ireland Defender of 
the Faith &c I Jane Pyke the wife of Edmund Pyke of Wapping in the Countie of
Middlesex Gentleman being sick in bodie but in good and perfect minde and memorie
praised be God for the same Doe with the Consent and approbation of my said ??s???
make and ordaine theise presents to be and containe my last Will and Testament in 
manner and forme following That is to saie First and Principallie I Commend my
soule in to the handes of Allmightye God my Creator beleeveing the Free pardon and
remission of all my Sinns throughe the Death and passion of Jesus Christ my onelye
Saviour and Redeemer And my bodie I Commend to the earthe whence it was taken beleive-
-ing and hopeing of a ioyfull resurrection of the same And as Concerneing my worldlye 
estate and meanes that it hath pleased God to make me a Steward of in this present 
worlde I give and bequeathe the same as followeth Imprimis whereas I before my marriage 
with my now husband Edmund Pyke and with his Consent did reserve certaine howses and
Tenements scituate at the Ducking Pond in Wappin aforesaid to be at my owne disposeing
Now I give and bequeath the same as followeth First I give and bequeathe unto my loveing
husband Edmond Pyke All that Mesuage or Tenement knowne by the signe of the S???e
and all those three new howses right over against the said tenement in an Alley called
S??? Alley one of them being next the streete and the other backwardes behinde that 
Dureing all such time as I have to come in them and everie of them Togeather withall
such arrearages of rents as are Due and oweing to mee for all my said Tenements att 
Ducking Pond aforesaid which are hereafter mentioned from any person whatsoever
towardes the payment of the legacies hereafter named Item I give and bequeath to my
Cowzen Jane Diggs the Daughter of John Diggs of wapping aofresaid marriner those
twoe Tenements in the occupation of Thomas Roffe and one     Brasier being
next the streete And those other twoe Tenements adioyneing to them backwardes 
Dureing all such time as I have to come in the same And if the said Jane Dye then my Will
is that my said husband shall enioy twoe of the said Tenements and the other twoe to bee
equallie devided betweene my Couzen Margarett Leech and her Children hereafter named 
and the survivors of them Item I give to my Godchilde John Leech sonn of John
Leech of Wapping aforesaid marriner Those twoe other Tenements in which Goodman
Hawkins and Good Julian now dwelleth dureing all such time as I have to come in them
Item I give and bequeathe to my Couzen Thomas Leech one other of the sonns of the said 
John Leeche those twoe Tenements next adioyneing behinde the twoe last mentioned
Tenements being in the occupation of one William Lilly and one Goodman Tompson
Dureing all such time I have to come in them Item I give and bequeath to my
Couzen Margaret Leech wife of the said John Leech and mother of the said John and Thomas 
his Children all the rest of my Tenements being not before disposed of (That is to say)
The Tenements in the occupation of one widdow West and the roomes over it and the
Tenement in the occupation of Goodman Champion and the roomes over it and the
Tenement in the occupation of Goodman Stevens and the roomes over it And the
Tenement in the occupation of Goodman Robinson and the roomes over it And the
Tenement in the occupation of Goodman Griffing and the roomes over it And the
Tenement in the occupation of Goodman Ellis and the roomes over it and the Tenement 
in the occupation of Goodman Jewell and the Roomes over it and the Tenement in the
occupation of Goodman Vaughan and the roomes over it Dureing all the time that I have 
to come in them and everie of them And I doe name them Goodman before in theise 
presents because I cannot call to minde their Christen names And my will is that if
the said Margarett or her twoe Children aforementioned shall happen to dye that then
									     these legacies


these legacies afore given to them shall goe and remaine to the survivor or survivors of
them equallye Item I give and bequeath unto my Couzen George Bassett of Southwarke
victualler Five poundes And also to Nicholas Bassett and Barnard Bassett his sonnes
Five poundes a peece to each of them Item I give and bequeath to my Cozen Faith Wildman
of Windever in the Countie of Buckingham Five poundes which I owe her and Five
poundes more which I give unto her Item I give and bequeath unto my Couzen Edward
Hooker of Billingsgate London Stiller Fortie shillings to buy him and his wife a Ring Item
I give and bequeathe to my Couzen John Woods fortie shillings Item I give to my Couzen 
Boyce Fortie shillings Item I give and bequeathe to my loveing Freind Richard Cooper
of East Smithfeild Shoemaker Five poundes Item I give and bequeathe unto Master
Sedgwick Minister att Wapping Tree poundes Item I give and bequeath unto master
Randall Schoolmaster att Ratcliffe Fortie shillings Item I give and bequeath unto master 
Ungle Fortie shillings Item I give and bequeath to master Pearson Fortie shillings Item
I give and bequeath unto mistris Vaughan thirteene shillings Item I give and bequeath
to Joane Pearson Fortie shillings Item I give unto the sonne of Thomas Langley that is
now apprentice to a Pinmaker in Southwarke Fortie shillings when he shall come out of his
apprenticeshipp Item I give to my poore tennants what my Executor and overseers shall
thinke fitt Item I give and bequeathe unto Francis Calley of Lymehouse Scrivener 
Fower poundes Item I give and bequeath to the poore of the Piche in Yorksheire (where
my former husband gave a legacie) Three poundes And I hereby make and ordaine my
said husband Edmund Pyke sole executor of this my Will But if my said husband Edmund
Pyke shall happen to dye before this my Will be proved or if he shall denye or refuse to 
performe this my Will in every thing as is before exprest Then I Doe make my said Cozen
Edward Hooker sole executor and doe give him the legacies I have given to my said
husband to performe this my Will And I doe make and ordaine my loveing freinds Richard
Cooper and Francis Calley aforenamed (and my said Cozen Edward Hooker alsoe if my husband
doe performe this my will) to be my Overseers intreateing them to be aydeing and assistinge
to theire to see this my Will executed and performed In Witnes whereof I have hereunto
sett my hand and seale the Daie and yeare above written Jane Pyke Item I give to my
Godsonn John Lillam Twentie shillings Sealed and Delivered published and declared by the
said Testatrix for her last Will and Testament being contained in three sheets of Paper
in the presence of Elizabeth Smith Thomas Raffe I acknowledge and Connsent to this
