By this my last Will and Testament 
made this fifth day of June in the Year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and eighty I Elizabeth Pyke of Trowbridge
in the County of Wilts Widow being of sound and disposing 
??? memory and understanding and considering the
uncertainties of this transitory life as well as for setling my
worldly concerns I do therefore make publish and declare
this to be my Will and do hereby give and dispose of all and
singular my Goods Chattels and Effects in manner hereinafter 
mentioned expressed and declared of and concerning the same
that is to say Whereas I am possessed of or intitled unto the
sum of three hundred pounds in the four per Cent Consolidated
Bank Annuities of the year 1762 and which is now standing 
in my name in the Books of the Company of the said Bank
which said sum I do by this my Will give and bequeath 
unto William Waldron and Isaac Greene both of
Trowbridge aforesaid Gentlemen In Trust and to and for
the intents and purposes hereinafter mentioned that is to sya
That they the said William Waldron and Isaac Green
or the Survivor or Survivor or Survivors of them or the
Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall
continue two hundred Pounds Part of the said Sum of three
hundred Pounds in the same Fund and from time to time
receive the Interest or Dividends arising therefrom and
pay the same unto my son in Law Henry Box of Froome
???wood in the County of Somerset Innholder for and
towards the support and Maintenance of Thomas James
and William his Children by my late Daughter Elizabeth
his late Wife until the Youngest of them which shall live
to attain the Age of twenty one Years And upon his


attaining such Age that they the said William Waldron
and Isaac Green or the Survivor or Survivors of them or the
Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall sell out
the said two hundred pounds and pay all such Money as shall
arise by and from the Sale thereof together with the Interest 
or Dividends then due and remaining unapplied (if any) equally
between them my said Grandsons Thomas James and William
Box which shall be then living share and share alike but if
any or either of them shall happen to die without Issue
before his or their share or shares shall become due or payable
Then I direct that my said Trustees or the Survivor of them
or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall
pay over the share or shares of him or them so dying unto the
Survivor or Survivors of them But in case any or either of
them my said Grandsons shall happen to die before his or
their attaining the age of twenty one years leaving one or
more Child or Children lawfully begotten then I direct that the
share of him so dying shall be paid unto his Child or Children
share and share alike upon his and their attaining the Age
of twenty one Years And if but one such Child then to such
only Child But in case my said three Grandsons shall happen
to die under their respective Ages of twenty one years without
Issue lawfully begotten Then I direct that they the said
William Waldron and Isaac Green or the Survivor of them
or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and
shall continue the said Sum of two hundred pounds in the said
Fund until the Youngest of my Grand Children Elizabeth Mary
and Ann Box Daughters of my said Daughter Elizabeth
which shall live to attain the Age of twenty one years shall
have attained such Age And the Interest or Dividends arising
therefrom in the mean time that they pay the same towards
the Maintenance and Education of them the said Elizabeth
Mary and Ann or such of them as shall be then living and
from and after the youngest of them my said Grand Daughters 
shall have attained the Age of twenty one years that they
the said William Waldron and Isaac Green or the Survivor 
of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor
do and shall as soon as conveniently may be after sell out
the said two hundred pounds Bank Annuities and pay all
such Monies as shall arise by Sale thereof unto such of
my said Grand Daughters as shall be then living share and
share alike but in case all my said Grand Children before 
mentioned shall happen to die before their arrival to the
Age of twenty one Years Then I direct that they the said
William Waldron and Isaac Green or the Survivor of them
or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do sell
out the aforesaid Sum of two hundred pounds and the Money
arising by Sale thereof that they pay one Moiety thereof
as well as of the Interest or Dividends which shall be then
due unto and equally amongst all and every the Child and
Children of my late Son James Taunton deceased which
shall be then living And the other Moiety thereof and also

of the Interest or Dividends then also due to my Grand
Children Elizabeth now the Wife of William Vine Ann
John Mary and James Taunton Sons and Daughters of my
late Son John Taunton as shall be then living in equal
shares and proportions Also I give and bequeath unto the
said William Waldron and Isaac Green or the Survivor of
them and the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor the
remaining sum of one hundred pounds part of the said Sum
of three hundred pounds In Trust and for the intent and
purposes following that is to say that they or the Survivor
of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do
and shall continue the same in the same Fund and from time
to time receive the Interest or Dividends that shall become
due or arise therefrom and pay the same into the Hands of 
Elizabeth Taunton Widow of my said late Son John Taunton
for and towards the support and Maintenance of her said
Children Mary Ann John and James Taunton until the
youngest of them shall live to attain the Age of twenty
one years And from and after his her or their attaining such
Age that they the said William Waldron and Isaac Green
or the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of 
such Survivor do and shall sell out and dispose of the said 
sum of one hundred pounds and pay all such Monies as 
shall arise by and from the Sale thereof together with all
Interest or Dividends then due for the same and then
remaining unapplied (if any) equally between them my said
Grand Children Elizabeth Vine Ann John Mary and James
Taunton But in case any or either of them my said Grand
Children Ann John Mary and James shall happen to die before 
their arrival to the Age of twenty one years then that the 
share or shares of him her or them so dying shall go and be
paid unto the Survivor and Survivors of them and also to the
said Elizabeth Vine in equal shares and proportions And whereas
I am now possessed of or intitled to the sum of two hundred
and thirty pounds now being in the Bath and Somersetshire 
Bank belonging to Isaac Webb Horlock Esquire and Co for
which Sum I have their Bank Bill payable to me or order
with Interest after the rate of three per Cent per Annum for
each 100L I do therefore hereby give and bequeath the same
unto them the said William Waldron and Isaac Green and
to the Survivor of them and the Executors and Administrators 
of such Survivor In Trust and to and for the intent and
purposes hereinafter mentioned that is to say that they or
the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such
Survivor do and shall continue such said Sum of two hundred
and thirty pounds in the same Fund and from time to time 
receive the Interest arising therefrom and pay the Interest
of one hundred pounds part thereof unto my said three
Grand Daughters Elizabeth Mary and Ann Box Daughters 
of my said late Daughter Elizabeth towards their support
and Maintenance until their arrival to the Age of twenty
one years and from and after her and their attaining that


Age that they the said William Waldron and Isaac Green or
the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such
such Survivor do and shall pay the sum of ninety pounds part
of the aforesaid sum of two hundred and thirty pounds unto
and equally between them as they shall respectively attain
the Age of twenty one years But if any or either of them shall
happen to die before her or their attaining the Age of twenty
one years leaving no Issue then I give the share or shares
of her or them so dying unto the Survivors or Survivor of
them in equal shares and proportions But in case any or
either of them shall happen to Marry and die before her
or their attaining the Age of twenty one years leaving 
Issue one or more Child or Children lawfully begotten then
I give the share of her so dying amongst such Child or Children
in equal shares and proportions as they shall respectively 
attain their Ages of twenty one years And I do direct that
the same be put out at Interest in the mean time on proper
security and the Interest or produce thereof be applied 
towards the support and Maintenance of them And if but
one Child then to such only Child provided nevertheless and
it is my will that if all my said three Grand Daughters
Elizabeth mary and Ann Box shall happen to die before
their attaining the Age of twenty one years leaving no
Issue lawfully begotten at the time of their respective deceases 
Then I direct that they my said Trustees or the Survivor of 
them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do
and shall continue the said sum of ninety pounds in the said
Bank to and for the use of my said three Grandsons Thomas
james and William Box and I direct that the same be
paid them in equal proportions as they shall respectively 
attain their Ages of twenty one years but if any or either of 
them shall happen to die leaving no Issue and under the
Age of twenty one years Then I give the share of him or
them so dying unto the Survivor or Survivors of them But
in case any or either of them shall happen to die leaving 
issue one or more Child or Children then I direct that the
share of him or them so dying shall go and be paid unto and
equally amongst his Children if more than one And if but
one then to such only Child But in case all my said Grand
Children before mentioned by my said late Daughter Elizabeth
shall happen to die before their arrival to the Age of twenty
one years then I direct and it is my Will that they the said
William Waldron and Isaac Green or the Surivvor of them or
the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do take the
said sum of ninety pounds out of the said Bank and pay one
Moiety thereof as well as the Interest as shall be then due unto
and equally amongst all and every the Child and Chidlren of
my said late Son James Taunton as shall be then living and
the other Moiety thereof and also of the Interest or Dividends
then also due to my Grand Children the said Elizabeth Vine Ann
John Mary and James Taunton Sons and Daughters of my
said late Son John Taunton as shall be then living in equal


shares and Proportions Also I give and bequeath unto them the
said William Waldron and Isaac Green and the Survivor of them
and the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor the sum of
one hundred and forty pounds remaining sum of the said two
hundred and thirty pounds in the Bath Bank aforesaid in manner
and for the purpose following that is to say that they do as soon
as conveniently may be after my decease take the sum of twenty
pounds part of the said sum of two hundred and thirty pounds
and pay the same into the Hands of my Grand Daughter Elizabeth
Vine or to the said William Vine her Husband to and for her
and their own use And the remaining sum of one hundred and 
twenty pounds that they continue the same at Interest and pay
the Interest arising thereout unto my Daughter in Law Elizabeth
Taunton towards towards the support of my said Grand Children Ann John
Mary and James Taunton until her her or their attaining the
Age of twenty one years and upon his her and their attaining 
such Age I direct that they the said William Waldron and Isaac
Green or the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators
of such Survivor do take out from the said Bank the sum of thirty
pounds upon each of them the said Ann John Mary and James
attaining their respective Ages of twenty one years And also to
pay the same unto him or her on his or her attaining such
Age but in case any or either of them shall happen to die before
his her or their arrival to the Age of twenty one years leaving
no Issue Then I give the share or shares of him her or them so
dying unto the Survivor or Survivors of them but in case either 
of them shall happen to die leaving Issue one or more Child or
Children lawfully begotten Then I give the sahre of him or her so
dying amongst such Child and Children in equal proportions as 
they shall respectively attain their Ages of twenty one years And
I direct that the same be put at Interest on proper Security and
the Interest thereof be applied in the mean time towards the
support and Maintenance of them if more than one but if one only
then for such only Child Provided nevertheless and it is my will that
if all my said Grand Children by my said late Son John Taunton
Ann John Mary and James shall happen to die befor  their
attaining their Ages of twenty one years leaving no Issue at the
time of their respective deceases Then I direct that they they
said William Waldron and Isaac Green or the Survivor of
them or hte Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do
and shall continue the said Sum of one hundred and twenty
pounds in the Bath Bank as aforesaid to and for and the
use of all and every my said Grand Children by my said late Son
James Taunton and my said late Daughter Elizabeth Box 
as shall be then living in equal shares and proportions and
to take the share or shares of him or them out of the said Bank
and to pay them the same upon his her and their attaining
the Age of twenty one years And if any or all of them which
shall be then living shall have attained their respective Ages
of twenty one years I then direct that the same be paid them
immediately after such the deceases of them my said Grand
Children Ann John Mary and James and leaving no Issue


as aforesaid in equal shares and proportions And whereas I have
now by me the sum of one hundred pounds which I propose to
put into the Bath Bank aforesaid and to take their Bank
Bill for the same payable to me with Interest which said sum I
propose putting in for the use of my Grand Daughters Joanna
and Elizabeth Daughters of my said late Son James Taunton
therefore I direct that my said Trustees William Waldron and
Isaac Green in case I shall happen to die without putting in
the same that they then put it in for me as I shall have the
same by me for that purpose therefore I bequeath the same unto
the said William Waldron and Isaac Green and the Survivor of
them and the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor upon
Trust and for the intent following that is to say that they
continue the same in the said Bank from and after the same
shall be so put therein and the Interest arising thereby that
they pay the same twoards the Maintenance and support of
them my said Grand Daughters Joanna and Elizabeth until
their arrival to the Age of twenty one years And from and 
after their attaining such Age I direct that they the said
William Waldron and Isaac Green or the Survivor of them or
the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do pay over such
said sum of one hundred pounds unto them my said Grand
Daughters Joanna and Elizabeth to and for their own use in
Equal shares and proportions But in case either of them shall
happen to die before her arrival tot he Age of twenty one
years leaving no Issue lawfully begotten Then I give the share
or her so dying unto the survivor of them But in case either
of them shall happen to die leaving Issue one or more Child
or Children lawfully begotten Then I give the share of her
dying amongst such Child or Children in equal shares and
proportions as they shall respectively attain their Ages of
twenty one years And I direct that the same be put at
Interest on proper security or continued in the same Fund and
the Interest arising thereupon be applied in teh mean time
towards the support and Maintenance of them if more than
one but if one only then for such only Child Provided nevertheless
and it is my Will that if my said Grand Children Joanna
and Elizabeth shall happen to die before their attaining the
Age of twenty one years leaving no Issue at the time of their
respective deceases Then I direct that they the said william
Waldron and Isaac Green or the Survivor of them or the
Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall
continue the said Sum of one hundred pounds in the Bath
Bank aforesaid to and for the use of all and every the said
Grand Children by my said late Son John Taunton and my
said late Daughter Elizabeth Box as shall be then living in
equal shares and proportions and to take the share or shares
of thim her or them out of the said Bank and to pay them
the same upon his her and their attaining their respective
Ages of twenty one years And if any or all of them which
shall be then living shall have attained their respective Ages 
of twenty one years I then direct that the same be paid them


immediately after such the deceases of them my said Grand
Children Joanna and Elizabeth (and leaving no Issue as
aforesaid) in equal shares and proportions Also I give and
bequeath all and singular my Household Goods and Furniture
Plate Linen and China except a Silver two handle Cup or Bowl
which I give to my Grand Daughter Joanna whereof I shall
die seized or possessed And also my Moiety of the Stock of 
Liquors and Brewing Utensils which shall be in the Dwelling
House Outhouses and Premises wherein I now reside and inhabit
at the time of my decease I give and bequeath unto them the
said William Waldron and Isaac Greene and the Survivor 
of them and the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor
In Trust and to and for the intents and purposes following
that is to say that they take or cause to be taken an
Inventory thereof immediately after my decease and get
the same appraised and valued and from and after such Inventory
taken and valuation made thereof I direct that they make
my Daughter in Law Elizabeth Taunton Widow of my Late
Son James Taunton an offer thereof and if the same shall
amount to the sum of two hundred pounds and more upon
such valuation made and she shall be willing to take to the
same at the sum of two hundred pounds I then direct that 
they let her have such Goods Stuck and Brewing Utensils
at that sum but if the same do not amount to the sum of two
hundred pounds upon such valuation being made thereof then
that She shall be at liberty to take the same at such
valuation And I direct that they give her the space of two
years for paying for the same without paying any Interest
in case She my said Daughter in Law shall think proper
of taking to the same in manner aforesaid and also upon
her finding proper security to the satisfaction of my Trustees
the said William Waldron and Isaac Green And from and
immediately after the expiration of the said two years I do
hereby order and direct that they the said William Waldron
and Isaac Green or the Survivor of them or the Executors or
Administrators of such Survivor do call in such Money as 
shall be so made of the said Goods and Stock and Brewing 
Utensils not exceeding the said sum of two hundred pounds
as aforesaid And from and immediately after the same
shall be so paid in that they do and shall as soon as
conveniently may be put the same out at Interest in
the Bath and Somersetshire Bank as aforesaid to and for
the use of my Grand Daughters Joanna and Elizabeth
Daughters of my said late Son James Taunton until they
shall attain the Age of twenty one years And from and
after their attaining such Age I direct that they take out
such Money from the said Bank and pay the same unto
them my said Grand Daughters Joanna and Elizabeth to
and for their own use in equal shares and proportions

mean time towards their joint support and Maintenance
But in case either of them shall happen to die before their


arrival to the Age of twenty one years leaving no Issue
lawfully begotten Then I give the share of her so dying unto the
Survivor of them upon her attaining the Age of twenty one years
But in case either of them shall happen to die leaving Issue one
or more Child or Children lawfully begotten Then I give the share
of her so dying amongst such Child and Children in equal shares
and proportions as they shall respectively attain their Ages of 
twenty one years And I direct that the same be continued in the
said Bank and the Interest arising therefrom be applied in the mean
time towards the support and Maintenance of them if more than
one but in one only then for such only Child Provided nevertheless
and it is my Will that if my said Grand Children Joanna and
Elizabeth shall happen to die before their attaining the Age of 
twenty one years leaving no Issue at the time of their
respective deceases Then I direct that they the said William
Waldron and Isaac Green or the Survivor of them or the
Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall continue
the said Sum of two hundred pounds in the Bath Bank aforesaid
to and for the use of all and every my said Grand Children by
my said late Son John Taunton and my said late Daughter
Elizabeth Box as shall be then living in equal shares and
proportions and to take the share or shares of him her or them
out of the said Bank and to pay them the same upon his her
and their attaining their respective Ages of twenty one years
And if any or all of them which shall be then living shall have
attained their respective Ages of twenty one years I then direct
that the same be paid them immediately after such the deceases 
of them my said Grand Children Joanna and Elizabeth and
leaving no Issue as aforesaid in equal shares and proportions 
And in case my said Daughter in Law Elizabeth Taunton Widow
of my said late Son James Taunton shall refuse to accept
of the proposal I have directed to be made by my said Trustees
respecting my said Goods Stock and Brewing Utensils in manner
aforesaid I then direct that they the said William Waldron
and Isaac Green do upon such refusal proceed as soon as
conveniently may be after to sell and dispose of my said Goods
and also of my Moiety of the Stock of Liquors Casks and 
Brewing Utensils and the Money arising by such Sale I direct
that they put the same into the Bath and Somersetshire
Bank aforesaid and to be applied and disposed of to and for
the use of my said Grand Children Joanna and Elizabeth in the
same manner and upon the same Trusts as I have settled the
same in case my said Daughter in Law had taken to the aforesaid
Goods Cask Stock of Liquors and Brewing Utensils And also in
the same manner and upon the same Trusts in case they the said
Joanna and Elizabeth shall happen to die before attaining 
their respective Ages of twenty one years with and without Issue
and to be equally disposed of amongst all and every my said
Grand Children as shall live to attain the Age of twenty one
years or that shall have attained such Age in manner aforesaid
Also I give unto my Son in Law Henry Box to my Daughter 
in Law Elizabeth Taunton Widow of my said late Son John


Taunton and to my Daughter in Law Elizabeth Taunton Widow
of my said late Son James Taunton and to her son John
Taunton the sum of one Guinea each to be paid them by my
Executors hereinafter named within twelve Months next after
my decease Also I give unto my Grand Daughter Elizabeth Box
all my wearing Apparel of every kind and quality soever that I
shall leave at the time of my decease Also all the rest residue 
and remainder of my Estate and Effects whereof I shall die possessed
of and not herein disposed of after paying my just Debts Legacies
and Funeral Expences I give and bequeath the same unto them
the said William Waldron and Isaac Green and the survivor of
them and the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor 
to and for the use of and towards the support and 
Maintenance of her my said Grand Daughter Elizabeth Box
but in case She should happen to die before the whole thereof
shall be applied I then direct that they my said Trustees do
apply the same towards the support and Maintenance of such
of my said Grand Children as shall be then living jointly And
Lastly to the intent that they the said William Waldron 
and Isaac Green or either of them their or either of their
Executors or Administrators may or might have no objection
in acting under the aforesaid Trust I do hereby declare it
to be my Will that they the said William Waldron and
Isaac Green or either of them or the Heirs Executors or
Administrators of them or either of them shall not be
chargeable or accountable for any more or other sum or sums
of Money than what they or either of them shall actually
receive or come to their Hands or possession by virtue of and
under this my Will and that one of them shall not be
answerable or chargeable for or with the Act Receipt or
Default of the other of them but each of them for himself
and his own Act Receipt or Default only And also that
in case any loss or losses shall or may happen by reason or
on account of any bad security or securities they the said
William Waldron and Isaac Green or either of them their
or either of their Executors or Administrators shall place
out at Interst any Sum or Sums of Money that they or
either of them their or either of their Executors or Admors
shall not be charged or chargeable with such Loss or Losses
or be liable to make good the same or any part thereof
And I do hereby also empower and authorize them to deduct
and detain unto themselves out of my said Effects all such
reasonable Costs Charges and Expences that they shall
respectively bear be at sustain or be put unto in and
about or any ways relating to the Trusts hereby in them
reposed And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint
them the said William Waldron and Isaac Green joint
Executors of this my last Will and Testament but In Trust
nevertheless and for the purposes aforesaid and for the
trouble they may have in executing the Trusts of this my
Will hereby in them reposed I give them one Guinea each
to buy them a Mourning Ring And I do hereby revoke


all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made In Witness
whereof I the said Elizabeth Pyke have to the first nine Sheets
hereof containing then Sheets of Paper set my Hand and to the last
Sheet hereof set my Hand and Seal the day and year in the first
Sheet hereof mentioned and expressed The mark of  Elizabeth 
Pyke LS Signed sealed published and declared by the said
Testatrix Elizabeth Pyke as and for her last Will and Testament
in the presence of us Jno Witcomb Tho Tuner S Way

On the eleventh day of October in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and eighty two Administration with
the Will annexed of all and singular the Goods Chattels and
Credits of Elizabeth Pyke late of Trowbridge in the County of Wilts
Widow deceased was granted to Elizabeth Taunton Widow and Elizabeth
Taunton Widow the Curatrixes or Guardians lawfully assigned to
Elizabeth Box Spinster a Minor the Grand Daughter of the said 
deceased and Residuary Legatee for the life named in the said Will
for the use and benefit of the said Minor and until she shall
attain the Age of twenty one years they having been first
sworn by Commission duly to Administer William Waldron and
Isaac Green the Executors and Residuary Legatees In Trust named
in the said Will having first renounced as well the execution 
thereof as Letters of Administration with the said Will annexed of
the Goods of the said deceased
