In the Name of God Amen
I Frederick Pike of the City Road in the parish of
Saint Luke in the County of Middlesex Rope Maker
Hemp and Flax Dealer being in good health and of
Sound Mind Memory and understanding praised be
Almighty God for the Same but knowing the
Uncertainty of this Mortal life Do make this my
last will and Testament as follows First I commend
my Soul into the hands of Almighty God in hopes
of a Joyful Resurrection through the Merits of his
only beloved Son Jesus Christ and request that I
may be decently interred by my Executors hereinafter
named in the Parish Church yard of Saint Luke
aforesaid as near my Children as have been buried
there as may be And as for my Worldly Estate where
with it hath pleased God to bless me I dispose 
thereof in manner following (that is to say) I direct
that my Just Debts Funeral Expences may be paid
by my Executors as soon as conveniently may be
after my decease out of my Personal Estate and
after payment thereof I give devise and bequeath
unto my father in Law James Elisha of the City
Road aforesaid and my dear Wife Mary Pike
my Executors after named all my Real and 
Personal Estate of what nature or kind soever that
I may be possessed of interested in or entitled to
upon the Trusts and to and for the intents and
purposes hereinafter mentioned (that is to say) First
that my said Trustees and the Survivor of them
and the Executors and Administrators of such
Survivor shall as soon as conveniently may be
after my decease sell assign convey or otherwise 
dispose of such of my Property as may be saleable
in Case it shall be demed adviseable for them so
to do but not otherwise and out of the Money
arising therefrom to place the same out in the
purchase of Stock in the Publick Funds of the
Bank of England or other Permanent Security upon
the Trusts following (that is to say) Upon Trust that
my said dear Wife Mary Pike shall receive the
Dividends and Interest or annual produce thereof
for the Maintenance of herself and my Five Children
    hereinafter named and of such other
Child or Children as my said dear Wife may be
ensient with at the time of my decease until the



time that their respective portions or Sums of Money herein
after give and bequeathed to them shall be paid (that is 
to say) I give and bequeath to my said five Children
Mary Pike John Frederick Pike Sarah Charlotte Pike
Louisa Pike and Sophia Pike and such other Child or
Children as my Wife may have in my life time or born
in due time after my decease the Sum of one thousand
pounds each of lawful Money of the United Kingdom
of Great Britain and Ireland to be paid in manner
following (that is to say) the Sum of Five hundred pounds
each of like lawful Money to them respectively on their
attaining unto the State of Matrimony according to the
rites and Ceremonies of the Church of England and
the further Sum of Five hundred pounds of like lawful
Money at such time afterwards as my said Trustees or
the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators
of Such Survivor may think it right and proper for them
to receive the same but not otherwise the Increase
whereof in the mean time          after such
payment to be entirely at the discretion of my Said
Trustees to be paid or not as they may think proper
And my Will is and I direct that in Case any or either
of my said Child or Children shall not happen to 
marry and shall live to attain their age or respective
age of thirty five years then that my said Trustees and
the Survivor of them and the Executors and Admors of
such Survivor shall on their attaining that age
whether married or Single pay the whole of their
respective Legacies or Sums of One thousand pounds
each on their attaining such age or ages respectively
and my Will further is that in Case any of my said
Children shall happen to depart this life before
Marriage as aforesaid or before they shall attain
the said age of thirty five years as before mentioned
then and in such Case that the share or Legacy of
the Child or Children so dying shall go to the
Survivor of Such Child or Children in equal shares
and proportions payable in manner before mentioned
but in Case any of my said Children shall happen to
depart this life leaving lawful Issue before they shall
have received the whole of their said respective Legacies
then that the Money so remaining due and unpaid to
such Child or Children shall from thenceforth be laid
out and invested for and towards the Maintenance
of such Child or Children of the Parent or Parents
so dying until they attain their age or respective ages
of twenty one years and when they attain that age
then to pay the same to them respectively and if but
one then to that one but in Case such Child or 
Children shall not leave any Issue lawfully begotten
then I direct that the same shall be paid to my



Surviving child or Children that may be then living in
equal proportions and my Will is and I direct that my
said Trustees and the Survivor of them and the Exors
and Administrators of such Survivor shall in Case my
said Wife shall Continue in Trade as a Ropemaker Employ
my Sisters Husband Christian Wentzell in that Trade
at the presente wages or to get him Employment
elsewhere so as to enable him to Earn the same Salary
or wages during the term of his natural life but in Case
the said Christian Wentzell shall from age or other
Infirmities be uncapable of working or it shall not be
convenient for my said wife to Employ him then and
in that Case I direct that my said Trustees and the
Survivor of them and the Executors and Administrators
of such Survivor shall pay to him the said Christian
Wentzell for and during the term of the naturall life
of his said wife my said Sister the annual Sum of
thirty pounds by Quarterly or Monthly payments as
they may think proper and in Case the said Christian
Wentzell shall happen to Survive his present wife
Then I direct that from and after her decease he
shall be paid the annual Sum of twenty pounds
for and during the term of his natural life but not
more I also give and bequeath to my Brother Godfrey
Pike the annual Sum of thirty pounds for and during
the term of his natural life payable Quarterly or
Monthly as my said Trustees shall see fit and for
and after his decease in Case his present Wife shall
be then living then I give and bequeath to her the
annual Sum of ten pounds to be paid to her
Quarterly or Monthly as my said Trustees shall think
fit for and during the term of her natural life And
I do Charge and make liable all my Personal Estate
with the payment of the said Legacies and annual
Sums of Money as before mentioned I give and bequeath
to Charles Harman one of the Clerks of the Bank of
England Gentleman Fifty pounds and Mourning And
all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Estate and
Effects of what nature or kind soever I give devise and
bequeath the same and every part thereof after 
payment of my Just Debts Funeral Expences Legacies
and annuities before mentioned unto my said dear
wife Mary Pike her Heirs Executors ADministrators
and Assigns to and for her and their own use and
benefit And it is my will and meaning that my
said Trustees shall not be liable to answer or make
good any loss or losses that shall or may happen
placing out my Monies according to the Directions of
this my will or in transacting any Money Affairs or
otherwise relating to or concerning the Execution of the
Trusts mentioned in this my will unless the same
shall appear to happen by or through their or either of
their wilful Defaults nor shall either of them be



answerable or accountable for the Acts Deeds Receipts or
Disbursements of the other of them And I do direct that
my said Trustees shall and do pay and reimburse
themselves out of the Residue of my Estate and Effects All
reasonable Costs Charges and Expences that they or either
of them shall bear pay or be put unto in the Execution
of the Trusts hereby in them reposed And Lastly I do
hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Trustees
the said James Elisha and my said dear Wife mary
Pike Executor and Executrix of this my last Will and
Testament ^ In Witness whereof I the said Frederick   		 ^ and Guardians of my
Pike have to this my last Will and Testament contained		   Children and do
in three sheets of paper set my hand and Seal (that is		   hereby revoke all
to say) my hand to the first two sheets and my hand		   former Wills by me
and Seal to this third and last Sheet this twentieth day	   made and do declare
of May in the year of our Lord on thousand eight		   this to be may last
hundred and two  Fredk Pike LS  Signed Sealed Published		   Will and Testament
and Declared by the said Testator as and for his last
Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his
presence at his request and in the presence of each other
have subscribed our names as Witnesses The words one
of the Clerks of the Bank of England on the fourteenth
line in the first sheet being first struck out and the
words "Frederick Charlotte" in the same sheet being first
interlined and the words "I give and bequeath to
Charles Harman one of the Clerks of the Bank of
England Gentleman Fifty pounds and Mourning" being
first interlined over the last line but two on the second
page or Sheet and the words "and the said" in the
third sheet being first sruck out in the presence of us

This Will was proved at London the 
thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and Four before the Worshipful
George Ogilvie Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right
Honorable Sir William Wynne Knight also Doctor of
Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative
Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths
of James Elisha and Mary Pike Widow the Relict
of the deceased and the Executors named in the said
Will to Whom Administration of all and singular
the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased was
granted having been first sworn duly to Administer
