This is the last Will and
Testament of me David Pike of the Parish of Christ
Church in the County of Surry Shipwright made this sixth
Day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and sixty six in manner and Form following
(that is to say) First I Give and Devise unto my Neice
Mary Coy and to my Servant Mary Drummer the small
Dwelling House at the End of the Warehouse belonging
to me in the Parish of Christ Church aforesaid together
with the Free use of a passage from thence to the street
To Hold the same to them during their Joint lives and 
the life of the longer liver of them free and Clear from 
all repairs and Taxes either Parliamentary or Parochial
which I Direct shall be paid and Done by the person and 
persons who shall be Entitled from time to time to the
possession of my Estate there Provided they or the Survivor 
of them do Recide or live on the said Premisses also I Give
and Devise all other my Estate in the Parish of Christ
Church aforesaid held of the Mannor of Old Paris Garden
(together with above premisses after the Death of the Survivor

of them the said Mary Coy and Mary Drummer unto
David Pike of the Parish of Saint James Westminster
Taylor and to Samuel Pike of Hoxton Square Gentleman
To hold the same to them and to receive the Rents Issues
and profits thereof during the Term of their natural lives
to be equally divided between them Share and Share alike
and in Case of the Death of either of them Then I Give and
Devise the same unto the Survivor of them during the Term
of his Natural life and from and after the Decease of the
Survivor of them the said David Pike and Samuel Pike
Then I Give and Devise the same unto John Pike the Eldest
son of the said David Pike and to the heirs Male of his 
Body lawfully Issuing and in Default of such Male Issue
Then I Give and Devise the same unto John Pike the Elder
of Chilton in the County of        Miller and
to the heirs Male of his body lawfully Issuing and in default
of such Male Issue Then I give and devise the same unto
the said Samuel Pike and to the Heirs Male of his body
Lawfully Issuing and in Default of such Male Issue Then
I Give and Devise the same unto Thomas Pike living near
Newbury in Berkshire and to the heirs Male of his Body
Lawfully Issuing and in Default of all such Male Issue
Then I Give and Devise the same unto David Pike Watts
son of the late William Watts of Doregate Cooper and to
his heirs for ever also I Give and Devise All that my
Messuage or Tenement Wharfe and premisses with the 
appurtenances scituate at Dukeshore at Limehouse in the
County of Middlesex and Samuel Bird the Elder and
Eleanor his Wife during their Joint Lives and the Life 
of the longer liver of them and from and after the Decease of 
the Survivor of them Then I Give and devise the same unto
the First and other Sons of the said Samuel Bird by the
said Eleanor his Wife and to the Male Heirs of the Body
of such first and other sons lawfully Issuing in Tail Mail
Successively and in Default of such Male Issue then I Give
and Devise the samue unto
  their Daughter Eleanor and to
  the Heirs Male of her Body
  lawfully issuing and in default 
  of all such male Issue then I 
  give and devise the same unto
  their Daughter Ann and unto
  the Heirs Male of her Body
  lawfully issuing and in default 
  of all such Issue Male then I
  give and devise the same unto
the said David Pike Watts and
to his heirs for ever Also I Give and Bequeath unto Mrs
Mary Buckmaster the Elder          and to the said
David Pike of Saint James Westminster Samuel Bird the
Elder and Mr William Hill of Peckham my Executors 
hereinafter named the sum of one thousand pounds three
per Cent Bank Consolidated Annuities to be Transferred into
their Names within two Months next after my Decease 
and I Direct that the Interest thereof shall from time to time
be paid to and Received by the said Mary Buckmaster
the Elder for and during the Term of her natural life and
from and immediately after her decease Then I Direct the
said sum of one Thousand pounds Bank Annuitys shall
be paid to and divided amongst Mary Buckmaster the younger 
Ann Watts Mary Watts Jane Watts the younger David
Pike Watts John Watts Thomas Watts Eleanor Bird the
younger Ann Bird and Joseph Bird and the survivors and


Survivor of them Equally share and share alike Also I Give
and bequeath unto the said Mary Coy and to my said Executors 
the sum of six hundred pounds three per Cent East India
Annuitys to be Transferred into their Names within two
Months next after my Decease and I Direct that the Interest
thereof shall from time to time be paid to and received by
the said Mary Coy for and during the Term of her Natural 
life and from and Immediately after her Decease then I Direct
the said Sum of Six hundred Pounds East India Annuitys
shall be paid to and Divided amongst Samuel Bird the
younger the said David Pikes son John Pike the son of 
John Pike of Chilton the two Daughters of the said John
Pike Susannah Pike Maria Pike and Elizabeth Pike the 
three Daughters of the said Samuel Pike Mrs Ann Foster and
Adam Dennis and the Survivors and Survivor of them equally 
share and share alike Also I Give and bequeath unto the
said Mary Dummer and to my said Executors the sum of 
four hundred pounds three per Cent East India Annuitys to
be Transferred intot heir Names within two MOnths next
after my decease and I Direct that the Interest thereof shall
from time to time be paid to and received by the said 
Mary Dummer for and during the Term of her Natural
life and from and immediately after her decease then I
Direct the said sum of four hundred Pounds East India 
Annuitys shall be paid to and Divided amongst the said
Samuel Bird the younger the son of the said David 
Pike the son and two daughters of the said John Pike
the three Daughters of the said Samuel Pike the said Ann
Foster and the said Adam Dennis and the Survivors and
Survivor of them equally share and share alike all the
Rest Residue and Remainder of my Estate whatsoever
and wheresoever or of what Nature kind or Quality soever 
(from and after payment of all my Just Debts Legacies 
Funeral Expences and the Charges attending the Execution 
of this my Will) together with all and Singular my
Household Goods and other things Excepting only such part
thereof as I shall or may Specifically Given away and
Disposed of in a paper of Instructions left for my Executors 
Separate from this my Will) I order and Direct shall be 
Sold and Converted into Money with all Convenient Speed
after my decease and out of the Money arising by such Sale
I order and direct the following Legacies to be first paid 
and Discharged which I Give and bequeath to the several 
persons respectively (to wit) to Mr Edmund Smith To the said 
William Hill To Mrs Ann Marryat of Pekham Widow
To Mrs Mary Langridge of Epsom To the said David
Pike to his Brothers the said John Pike and Samuel Pike
and to Jane Watts the Elder the sum of Fifty pounds a peice
To Mrs Ann Dennis To Mrs Mary Buckmaster the Elder
To the said Samuel Bird the Elder or Eleanor his Wife
To Mr John Few the Elder or Ann his Wife the sum of 
one hundred pounds apeice To the said John Few or his
						  Wife


Wife for their three youngest Daughters or otherwise as
they shall please the sum of seventy five pounds To the
son of David Pike to the Son of John Pike and to the two
Daughters of the said John Pike and to the three Daughters 
of the said Samuel Pike the Sum of twenty pounds a peice 
To the said Jane Watts the Elder or to her Eldest son
William Watts the sum of one hundred and twenty pounds
to be Equally Divided between the six Youngest Children 
of William Watts the Elder deceased To the said William
Watts the Younger to Mary Buckmaster the younger to the
said Mary Coy and to her Cousin Henry Coy the Sum of 
twenty five pounds a peice To the said Ann Foster and Adam
Dennis the sum of twenty pounds a peice To the said Samuel
Bird the Elder or his Wife Eleanor the sum of Eighty pounds
for their two Sons Samuel and Joseph and their two Daughters 
Eleanor and Ann to be equally Divided between them To the
Reverend Mr James Watson the Sum of twenty pounds
To the Poor of the Church under the Pastoral Care of the
said James Watson in Deadmans Place the Sum of twenty
pounds To the Treasurer of the Charity School in Gravel
Lane Southwarke the sum of ten pounds for the use of
the said School To the said Mary Dummer the Sum of twelve 
pounds to Thomas Pike near Newbury and to his two Sons
and to Meridith Bishop Shipwright the sum of ten
pounds apeice To the said Merideth Bishop for his Son
Merideth the Sum of ten pounds To Richard Haines the 
Elder To John Owen To Thomas Gurney the Elder and to Mr
              Walter of the Bank the Sum of ten
pounds To the Widow of Mr Job and to her Nurse the Sum
of five pounds to be Equally Divided between them To Mrs
Jane Beazeey To her Son George to her Maiden Daughter 
To her Grand Daughter Mary Cowriden To her Sister Frances
          To her Sister Elizabeth To William 
Parsons Shipwright to John Kingston to John Slaughter to
Thomas Sawyer and to Richard Archer the sum of five
pounds apeice and all and singular the rest and residue of the
Money that shall remain in the hands of my Executors after 
paying the above Legacies I order and direct shall be divided 
into seven equal Parts or Shares which I Give and dispose
of as follows (to wit) I Give and bequeath one seventh part
or share thereof unto the said David Pike one other seventh
part or share thereof unto the said John Pike the Elder of
Chilton one other seventh part or share thereof unto the said
Ann Dennis and to the said Jane Watts the Elder to be
equally Divided between them one other seventh part or
Share thereof to the Son of the said John Pike and to the
Son of the said David Pike to be equally Divided between
them one other Seventh Part or Share thereof unto the said
Samuel Bird the Elder or Eleanor his Wife one other Seventh
Part or Share thereof and also one half of the Remaining
Seventh part or Share unto the said Mary Buckmaster the
Elder and the other half part of the Remaining seventh


part or Share thereof unto the said David Pike Watts
when he shall attain his age twenty one years and in Case
any or either of the several persons hereinbefore mentioned
who shall be Entitled to the said Shares respectively shall
happen to Dye before their parts or shares shall become 
payable Then I Direct the part and share of him her
or them so Dying shall go to and be paid to the Survivors
and Survivor of them respectively equally share and share 
alike and Lastly I do hereby make ordain Nominate
Constitute and appoint the said David Pike the said Samuel
Bird the Elder and the said William Hill Joint Executors 
of this my Will and hereby revoking and making Void all
former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore 
made I Declare this only to be my last Will and 
Testament In Witness whereof I the said David Pike have to
this my Will Contained in two sheets of paper to the first
sheet set my hand and to this last my hand and seal the 
Day and year within written David Pike Signed Sealed
published and declared by the said Testator David Pike as and
for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who
in his presence and in the presence of each other have 
Subscribed our Names as Witnesses thereunto Josh Marryat

This Will was proved at London the twelfth day
of May in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred
and sixty six before the Worshipful William Burrell
Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right Worshipfull
George Hay Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary
of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully Constituted
by the Oaths of David Pike Samuel Bird the Elder and
William Hill the Executors named in the said Will to whom
Administration was granted of all and Singular the Goods 
Chattels and Credits of the deceased they having been first 
sworn duly to administer
