The conference will be taking place at the former St Martin's College in Ambleside (now part of the University of Cumbria), in the Lake District of England. For a detailed map, click here (PDF file), while for a map of the local area, click here.

Arriving by train: the nearest railway station is Windermere, approximately 5 miles away. Trains operate to Windermere from Oxenholme–Lake District, which has direct trains to/from London Euston, Birmingham New Street, Manchester Piccadilly and Glasgow Central and many other UK railway stations. Typical journey times:

  • London Euston: 3 hours 30 minutes
  • Birmingham New Street: 3 hours 20 minutes
  • Manchester Piccadilly: 2 hours
  • Glasgow Central: 2 hours 45 minutes
From Windermere station, Stagecoach bus services 555 and 599 operate from outside the station to Ambleside. See www.nationalrail.co.uk for further information about train services.

Arriving by coach: National Express operate coach services to Ambleside, from a variety of UK locations, including London and Birmingham.

Arriving by air: the nearest airport is Manchester Airport, from where there are direct trains to Windermere.

Arriving by car: Ambleside is easily reached from the M6 Motorway, via the A590 and A591 from junction 36. Parking is available on the St Martin's campus, and is free for those attending the conference.
