["1914" appears atop the page but I believe this meeting took place in 1915] Minutes of Annual Vestry meeting of all Saints Church English Harbour held in the schoolroom January 25th @ 7.30 1 The Rev J J White was present and acted as Chairman of the meeting with a very good number of members present 2 The meeting was opened with Prayer 3 Minutes of last meeting read and accepted 4 The Churchwardens accounts for year was then read and accepted showing Receipts $39.58 Expenses 30.98 $ 8.60 5 The amount of Sexton dues was then read by Secretary amounting to $14.00 6 The Readers list was than read by Secretary amounting to $25.10 7 The contributions towards the assestment were read by Mr H G Batson (member of Finance Committee) showing the amt for year $88.50 8 Chairman than read rules relating to Church Wardens & Vestries 9 The election of Churchwardens was than proceeded with 10 Mr Benjamin Penny volunteered to act as Ministers Warden for coming year 11 Proposed by Mr H G Batson sec by Mr Alexander Penney of John that Mr Francis Penney (James) be re-elected peoples warden carried 12 Proposed by Mr H G Batson and sec by Mr Alexander Penney of (Jos) that a vote of thanks be awarded the Church Wardens for their services during the past year carried 13 After some discussion about a sexton it was proposed by Mr Alexander Penney (Jos) seconded by Mr Albert Penney that Mr James Batson of Geo be re-elected sexton for coming year carried 14 Proposed by Mr William Jas Penney seconded by Mr Ernest Penney that Wm Geo Penney be elected sidesman carried 15 Proposed by Ernest Penney seconded by Mr Benjamin Penney that Mr Henry Robert Wells be elected as sidesman carried 16 Proposed by Mr Herbert Barnes seconded by Mr James Batson that Mr Wm Edward Penney be elected sidesman carried 17 Proposed by Wm Batson Wm sec by Mr John Francis Penney that Stephen Penney be elected sidesman carried 18 Proposed by Mr Wm Batson Wm seconded by Mr Henry R Wells that the Cemetery Committee be relected carried 19 The Chairman spoke at considerable length about the erection of a new school, suggesting that a Committee of the Congregation be formed to consider the possibility of erecting one 20 After some discussion about the election of a Finance Committee It was proposed by Mr Benjamen Penney seconded by Mr Ernest Penney that Mr Wm Jas Penney be elected as member of Finance Committee carried 21 Mr John Francis Penney volunteered to be a member of finance committee 22 Proposed by Mr Alexander Penney of John seconded by Mr Alexander [no surname is stated] of Jos that Miss S [an initial appears here, possibly a "G" or "Q"] Batson be paid the sum of $5.00 as a recognition for her services as Organist in the Church carried 23 Proposed by Mr Alexander Penney of John seconded by Mr Alexander Penney Jos that the sum of 85 cents be given to the reader to make up for what he did not get last year Lost. 24 Proposed by Mr Herbert Barnes sec by Mr Francis Penney (Jas) that the balance of $1.10 collected for readers fee be handed over to the Church Expenses carried 25 No further business being brought forward the meeting adjourned by singing of the Doxology and the Benediction Arthur Pittman Chairman
