Minutes of the Annual Vestry Meeting of the Congregation of St Silas Church Eng Harbor held in the School Room on Thursday Janry 17th 1895 1 The Chairman opened the Meeting with Prayer 2 The Minutes of the last Meeting was read & confirmed 3 The Chairman read the Act of Synod relating to Church Wardens & Vestries. 4 The Churchwardens presented their Accounts shewing receipts $65.77 Payments $51.35 Balance in Hand 14.42 The Sum of $2.00 however was due to the Sexton & $14.98 to the Reader 5 The Sexton gave up the $2.00 due to him and the Reader accepted the Sum of $10.42 in Satisfaction of the Amount due to him. 6 The Sum of $4.00 was handed to the Chairman to be added to the Sume of $20 already in the Savings Bank toward a new Church 7 The Chairman proposed and Mr Peter Penny seconded that a vote of thanks be given to the church Wardens for Service during the past year carried 8 The Chairman nominated Mr Isaac Penny as his warden. 9 Mr Alex Peny (Jos) proposed and Mr Wm Batson (Mark) seconded that Mr Charles Penny be reelected People's Warden carried 10 Mr Joseph Penny Sr moved & Mr Reuben Penny seconded that Mr Jacob Penny & Mr Peter Penny be reelected Sidesmen. carried 11 Mr Peter Penny moved & Mr John Penny seconded that Mr Joseph Penny be elected Sexton carried 12 The Meeting decided to run its own risks with regard to the Insurance of the Church 13 The Chairman read list of all contributions by Quarterly Envelopes and also read list of those contributing to the General Church Fund. The latter amounted to only $30.20 and a considerable portion of this was in notes and greatly depreciated in value 14 Mr Henry Geo Batson proposed and Mr Joseph Penny seconded that the Reader be paid at the rate of $24 per annum and the Sexton at the rate of $12 per annum carried 15 The Reader & Sexton accepted the above amounts 16 Mr Charles Penny proposed & Mr Alex Penny seconded that the List of Contibutions to Church Expenses & General Church Fund be read in Church carried 17 The Chairman promised to comply with Minute 16 if sanctioned by the Bishop 18 The Meeting then closed with Prayer G H Field (Chairman)
