This is the last Will
and Testament of me Spence Young of the Town and 
County of Poole Merchant who being under an Indisposition
of Body but of Sound Mind and Memory do make and 
Declare the same in manner following that is to say First 
I will that all my Just Debts and Funeral Expences be
paid and discharged Also I Give unto my loving wife 
Susanna Young all my Lands Tenements Goods Chattels
and Personal Estate of what kind soever and wheresoever 
To hold and Enjoy the same for and during the Term of 
her Natural life and from and Immediately after her 
Decease I Give and Devise my Estate at Woolston in the
Isle of Purbeck with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging 
unto my Son William Young his Heirs and Assigns for
ever he paying thereout unto my daughter Anne Young the sum
of One hundred pounds within One year after he shall
be in Possession thereof and Interest for the said One
hundred pounds after the Rate of Four Pounds P Cent P
Annum from the time of my said wifes Death until the
said Legacy is paid And I hereby charge my said Estate


with the payment thereof Also I Give and Devise unto
my son Samuel Young All that my Messuage or Tenement 
with the Store Houses Cellars and Appurtenances situate
in the Town and County of Poole To have and to Hold the
same unto my said son Samuel his Heirs and Assigns for
ever He Paying thereout unto my daughter Sherring 
Young the sum of Fifty pounds within one year after he
shall be in possession thereof and Interest for the said 
Fifty pounds after the Rate of Four pounds P Centum P Ann
from the time of my said wifes Death until the said Legacy 
is paid And I hereby charge the said Messuage or Tenement 
and Premisses with the payment thereof and if either of 
y said Sons Shall happen to dye before he Shall attain
the Age of One and Twenty years and shall leave no issue 
of his Body lawfully to be begotten then I Give and Devise 
his Estate so Dying unto his Surviving Brother and his
Heirs and Assigns for ever and if both my said Sons shall
happen to Dye before they attain their said Ages of One
and Twenty years and leave no Issue of his or their bodys
lawfully begotten then I Give and Devise my said Estates 
unto and amongst all my Daughters and their Heirs and
Assigns To hold and Enjoy the same as Tenants in Comon
and not as Joint Tenants Also I Give and bequeath all
my plate that I Shall dye Possessed of unto my said Two
Sons William and Samuel to be Equally Divided between
them share and share alike and if either of them Dye 
before he Shall attain the Age of One and Twenty years his 
part Shall go to the Survivor Also I Give unto my said
Daughter Sherring the Further Sum of Fifty pounds All the
rest and residue of my said Personal Estate that shall
remain after my said Wifes Death I Give and bequeath 
unto my said Sons William and Samuel and my Daughters
Frances Susanna Mary Anne Sherring and their respective 
Heirs to be Equally divided between them Share and Share
alike to be paid them at their Attaining their Several and
respective Ages of One and Twenty years and if any or
either of them Dye before attaining the said Age of One
and Twenty years and leave no Issue of his or her Body 
lawfully to be begotten then I Give his or her part of my
said Personal Estate unto and amongst my Surviving 
Children Equally to be Divided between them part and Share
alike And I do desire my Dear and Good Brother Mr Samuel
Clark to be Overseer of this my Will and to be Aiding and 
Assisting unto my Wife and in Case of her Death I make
him Guardian of my Children Also I Give unto the said 
Samuel Clark my Brother Robert Young my Brother in Law
Thomas Bird and my Son in Law Benjamin Thompson each
One Gold Ring of a Guinea Value And I do make my said
Wife Susanna Young Sole Executrix of this my Will hereby 
revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made 
Declaring this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Twenty third 


Day of February In the Thirdy third year of King George the
Seconds Reign over Great Britain and so forth And in the
year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty 
Spence Young Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the
said Testator Spence Young as and for his last Will and 
Testament in the Presence of us who Signed our names in his
Presence and at his request and in the presence of each other 
the words after and Assigns first Interlined ?? Hodden

This Will was Proved at London the Eighth
Day of May In the year of our Lord One thousand Seven
hundred and Sixty before the Right Worshipfull Edward
Simpson Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary
of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted 
by the Oath of Susanna Young Widow the Relict of the 
Deceased and Sole Executrix named in the said Will to whom
administration was Granted of all and Singular the Goods 
Chattels and Credits of the said deceased having been first 
Sworn by Commission duly to Administer
