In the Name of God Amen
I Thomas Wadham of the Town and County of Poole Mariner
being weak of Body but of perfect sense memory and
understanding thanks be therefore rendred to Almighty God
considering the uncertainty of Time and the certainty of Mortality 
do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament (that is to 
say principally and first of all I recommend my Soul into the
Hands of God who gave it and my Body to the Dust resting 
in hopes of a joyfull Resurrection with the Just at the great 
Day of Judgment And as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith 
it hath pleased God to endow me (after my Debts and Funeral 
Expences are paid and dischared) I give Devise and dispose 
of the same in manner and form following (that is to say) First 
of all I give grant and devise unto my beloved Nephew Thomas
Wadham the son of my deceased Brother John Wadham and to 


the Legitimate Heirs of his Body begotten and to be begotten for
ever All that my Messuage Tenement or Dwelling House with
the Gardens OutHouses Hereditaments and Appurtencances 
thereunto belonging Scituate Lying and being in Fish Street 
in the said Tow and County of Poole now in my possession and
Occupation And for default of such Issue I give grant and 
devise the said Messuage Tenement or Dwelling House Gardens
OutHouses Hereditaments and Appurtenances unto my beloved 
Nephew John Wadham the Brother of the said Thomas Wadham 
and to the legitimate Heires of his Body begotten and to be 
begotten for ever And for default of such Issue to my beloved 
Nephew Thomas Spurrier (the Son of my Brother and Sister
Timothy Spurrier and Mary Spurrier) and to his Heirs and 
Assigns for ever I also further give grant and devise unto my
said Nephew John Wadham and to his Heirs and Assigns for 
ever All that my Fifty pounds Mortgage and all the Right Title
and Interest which I have unto that part of a Messuage or 
Tenement called the Blackrod (that is to say) from the Great 
Entry to the Gate with a Turffe House to it belonging the
Buttery under the great Stairs the Closet at the Stair Head the
Stone Buttery in the Backside and all other the privileges and 
Appurtenances to it belonging which premises are scituate 
lying and being in High Street in the Town and County aforesd
and are now in the several Tenures of John Green Samuel
Luggs and Mary Rowe I also further give grant and devise 
unto my said Nephew Thomas Spurrier and to his Heirs and 
Assigns for ever All that my Forty pounds Mortgage and all
the Right Title and Interest that I have to the Messuage or
Tenement wherein he now liveth and to the Skilling in the 
Backside and that part of the Turfe House which he now enjoyeth 
and all other the premisses and Appurtenances to the said 
Messuage belonging I also further give and bequeath to my
said Nephew Thomas Spurrier All the money that he owes me or
shall owe me for Rent (or upon any other Account) at the time of
my Decease Also I give unto my Cousin Wadham Spurrier his
Son One Guinea Also I further give and bequeath unto my said 
Nephew Thomas Wadham my Silver Tankard Also I further 
give and bequeath unto my said Nephew John Wadham all my
wearing apparel whatsoever and also all the Goods and Furniture 
of my Room below Stairs that I now Lodge in Also I give and 
Bequeath unto my Cousin Susannah Smith Daughter of my
Brother Timothy Spurrier and of my Sister Mary his said wife 
the Sum of five pounds Sterling And also I give grant and devise 
unto her All that my Messuage or Tenement wherein She now
Lives for and during the term of years yet to come and unexpired 
being the remainder of my Estate therein I also give and bequeath 
unto my Cousin Benjamin Smith the Husband of my said Cousin 
Susannah all the money that he now Oweth me or shall owe me 
for Rent (or upon any other Account) at the time of my decease 
Also I give unto my Cousin Alice Tucker Two Guineas I also give
unto my said Brother Timothy Spurrier one Broadpiece of Gold
I also give unto the Servant that shall live with me at the time of 


my Decease one Guinea All the rest and residue of my Goods
Chattels Credits and Personal Estate not hereinbefore given I
give and desire unto and equally to be divided between my said
Nephews namely Thomas Wadham and John Wadham whom I
do hereby make and ordain my joint Executors of this my last Will
and Testament And I do hereby also Elect desire and appoint 
my Brother Timothy Spurrier and my Cousin Benjamin Wadham
to be my Friends In Trust to see that this my Will is duly and 
truly performed and for their Care therein I give to each of them
ten shillings allowing them their reasonable Expences And I do 
hereby revoke all other Wills by me made and do confirm this to be 
my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto
set my Hand and Seal the twenty fifth Day of July in the year of 
our Lord One thousand seven hundred and thirty seven Thomas
Wadham  Signed Sealed published pronounced and declared 
by the within named Thomas Wadham in the presence of us
whose names are hereunder written who also Subscribed our 
Names as Witnesses hereunto in his presence and according to
his direction Jere Colborne Jane Colborne Jane Colborne Junr

This Will was proved at London on the twenty first 
Day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand seven
hundred and forty two before the Worshipfull William Strahan
Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipfull John
Bettesworth also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary
of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the 
Oath of Thomas Wadham the Nephew of the said deceased and 
one of the Executors named in the said Will To whom Admron 
was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits 
of the said deceased being first Sworn duly to Administer the same 
power reserved to make the like Grant to John Wadham the
Nephew also of the said deceased and other Executor named in the 
said Will when he shall apply for the same 

This Will was proved at London On the twenty third 
Day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand seven
hundred and forty two before the Worshipfull Robert Chapman
Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipfull John
Bettesworth also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary
of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the
Oath of John Wadham the Nephew of the said deceased and also
the other Executor named in the said Will To whom Administration
was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits 
of the said deceased being first Sworn duly to Administer the same
