In the Name of God Amen
I Sarah Varder of the Parish of Bedminster in the County of 
Somersett being in good health of body and of sound and perfect
mind and memory praise be therefore given to Almighty God
do make and Ordaine this my present Last Will and Testament in
manner and form following that is to say First and principally I
commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God hopeing through
the Meritts Death and passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have 
full and Free pardon and Forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit 
Everlasting Life, and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently 
buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named, and as 
touching the Disposition of all such temporal Estate as it hath
pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose 
thereof as followeth First I Will that my Debts and Funeral
Charges shall be paid and discharged Imprimis Item I give unto
Samuel Bishop Inn holder and John Dart Shop keeper both of the
abovesaid Parish of Bedminster and County abovesaid the summe


of Thirty three pounds six shillings of good and Lawfull money 
together with a Bed and Bolster a pair Blankets one sheet and 
two Bolster Cases for the use of such persons as shall be hereafter 
mentioned, to be disposed of together with the approbation of the 
Executors, according to the true intent and meaning hereof as 
Friends in Trust and no otherwise, and the said Samuel Bishop
and John Dart or either of them or their survivors shall give 
surrender up such moneys and Goods at the time and times 
appointed, to these persons as their names shall follow it being 
Legacies given, Item I give unto my Son in Law Anthony Varder 
one shilling. Item I give unto my Grandson Anthony Varder Three 
pounds, Item I give unto my Granddaughter Mary Varder one
shilling. Item I give unto my Daughter in Law Ann Butler one
shilling. Item I give unto her son Anthony Nick one shilling 
Item I give unto my Daughter in Law Elizabeth Brady one shilling
Item I give unto her son William Brady one shilling. Item I give
unto my Granddaughter Mary Roome Five pounds together with 
a Bed and Bolster a pair of Blankets one sheet two Bolster
cloaths to be paid her at the discretion of her parents and the 
Trustees here Item I give unto my Grandchildren Sarah Baker 
Edward Baker Joseph Baker Ann Baker and John Baker Sons
and Daughters of my Daughter Sarah Baker by her Husband
Edward Baker. To Each and every of them Five pounds of good
and Lawfull money to be paid to each and every of these 
Grandchildren  when they the said Sarah Baker, Edward Baker
Joseph Baker Ann Baker and John Baker or either of them
shall arive to the age of Twenty years, and if them or either of 
them shall not attaine to the age of Twenty years, then they or 
either his porcons or summe or summes of money shall return to the 
longest livers to be equally divided to each of them, father more if 
need shall require for any or either of these Grandchildren for their 
summes of of money to be layd out on either of them for the better 
preferment it shall or may be done by their Parents and Consent of 
the Trustees or either of them as occasion shall serve. all the rest and 
residue of my personal Estate Lands Moneys Goods and Chattells
whatsoever and wheresoever I do give and bequeath unto my
son in Law Edward Baker full and sole Executor of this my last 
Will and Testament (but as for all that Messuage and Tenement 
or dwelling house scituated standing and being on the Colledge 
Green in the Parish of St Augustant the Less in the City of Bristoll
with all and singular the Appurtenances thereunto belonging, now 
occupied by Mrs Anne Oldworth and Mrs Jane Oldworth or one of 
them tenant or Tenants, only this House and Messuage for their 
Lives, the said Edward Baker and Sarah Baker his Wife, and after 
the decease of the abovesaid Edward Baker, and Sarah Baker his
Wife the abovesaid House or Tenement Scituating on the Colledge 
Green shall return and be equally divided only the Rents without
any alienating the same as for sale or such like, but shall be for
their own proper use benefitt and behoofe of the abovesaid Sons
and Daughters of Edward Baker and Sarah his Wife to partake 
receive for themselves and no others for their own proper use and
uses dureing all the said term or terms of the abovesaid dwelling house


Provided they always they discharge all dues duties rates or rents
which shall become payable, and with all reparations, each and 
every one his particular part or parts shall pay or cause to be payd
by them or either of them, and if either of them should decease or leave 
this mortal Life before they shall arive to the Age of TWenty years or
dye without Issue, them or their particular portion, right or rights 
shall remain and return unto the longest Livers of the abovesaid sons
and daughters of the abovesaid Sarah Baker by Edward her now
present Husband, and I do hereby revoke disanull and make void
all former Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made In Witness
whereof I the said Sarah Varder to this my Last Will and Testamt 
containing two sheets of paper sett my hand and seal unto both
sheets hereof the First day of January 1717/18 in the Fourth year of 
the Reign of our Soveraign Lord George of Great Britain France
and Ireland King Defender of the Faith Anno Domini (The mark or
Sarah Varder) Signed Sealed and published and declared in the
presence of  John Nicholas Elizabeth Appleford William Humphys
