In the Name of God Amen
I Anthony Varder of Bedminster in the County of 
Somersett Mariner being sick and weake in Body but of sound
perfect and disposing mind and memory Thankes be to God for
the same and considering and being well assured of the certainty


of Death and the uncertainty of the time thereof Doe hereby
make this my last Will and Testament in writing and in
manner and form following First and principally I comend 
my soul to Almighty God hoping thro the merits Death
Passion and intercession of Jesus Christ my Saviour and 
Redeemer after this painful life ended to inherit everlasting 
Life And my Body I comitt to the Earth to be interr'd at the 
discretion of my Executor hereinafter named And as touching 
my worldly goods and Estate which God hath bestowed on
me I give devise and bequeath thereof as followeth Impris I
give devise and bequeath unto my son Anthony Varder All that 
Messuage or Tenement with all and singular the appurtenances thereto
belonging scituate in the Colledge Greene in the City of Bristol and
wherein James Taylor Clarke doth now inhabit and dwell To hold 
unto him the said Anthony Varder his Executors Administrators 
and Assignes for and during all my Term and Interest therein
Item I give devise and bequeath unto my said son Anthony Varder 
All that my Plantacon in Portagrave in Conception Bay in 
Newfoundland To hold unto him the said Anthony Varder his 
heires and Assignes for ever Item I give devise and bequeath 
unto my said son Anthony Varder All those four Messuages or 
Tenements with the Gardens Outhouses Courts pavements and
all and singular their and every of their rights members and
appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining 
scituate standing and being in the East Street of Bedminster and 
which are now in the severall Tenures or occupacons of William
Smith Joseph Giles Anthony Varder and John Clarke To hold 
unto him the said Anthony Varder his heires and Assignes for 
ever But it is my Will and I do hereby declare it so to be That 
my Wife Sarah Varder shall enjoy and possess for and during 
the Term of her life All the Tenement wherein John Clarke doth
dwell and also the little Garden Plott within the Garden Door Item
I give devise and bequeath unto my loving Wife Sarah Varder 
All my Estate Term and interest of in and to all that Messuage 
or Tenement with the appurtenances thereto belonging scituate 
standing and being in the Colledge Greene in the Citty of Bristol
and which is now in the Tenure or occupacon of Mrs Jane and
Mrs Anne Aldworth or one of them Item I give and bequeath 
unto my Daughter Ann Neck All that my Plantacon in Bay
Roberts in the Bay of Conception in Newfoundland To hold for the 
Term of her life and from and after her Decease I give evise and
bequeath the said Plantacon unto my grandson John Varder 
To hold to him the said John Varder his heires and Assignes
for ever But I charge the said Plantacon with an Annuity or 
yearly payment of six pounds per Annm unto Elizabeth Brady
my daughter and Wife of Jacob Brady of the Citty of Bristol
Cooper Item Whereas I have in this my last Will and Testament 
given devised and bequeathed unto my son Anthony Varder All
that my Plantacon in Portagrave in the Bay of Conception 
in Newfoundland To hold to him his heires and Assignes for
ever I do hereby charge the said Plantacon with the Annuity 
and yearly payment of Four pounds currant money of Great 


Britain unto Mary Baker Daughter of my Son in Law Edward
Baker for and during the term of her life Item I give unto my
Grandchildren William Davis Anthony Varder Anthony Neck
John Varder William Brady Mary Jone Anne Jones to each
and every of them Five shillings apiece to be paid by my 
Executor in three Moneths after my decease Item I give unto
Alexander Varder son of my said son Anthony Varder the like
sume of Five shillings to be paid as aforesaid Item I give
and bequeath unto my loving Wife Sarah Varder the use of 
all my housholdstuff houshold goods and implements of 
housholdstuff Linnen and woollen Beds and Bedding and Plate 
and every thing of Inndoor and Outdoor Goods during the 
Term of her life and after her decease I give and bequath 
unto my said son Anthony Varder every part and parcell
thereof to his own sole use And lastly all the rest of my Goods
and chattles rights and credits moneys securities for moneys 
real and personal estate whatsoever not herein before by me 
given and bequeathed after my debts legacies and funeral
expences be paid and discharged I do hereby give devise and 
bequeath unto my said son Anthony Varder Whom I make and 
hereby ordain and constitute whole and sole Executor of this
my last Will and Testament And doe revoake all former Wills
by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I have 
to this my last Will and Testament conteyning two sheets of 
Paper to the first sheet shett my hand and to the last sheet sett
my hand and seal this Fourth day of April in the Twelfth
year of the Reign of our Soveraign Lady Anne by the grace 
of God of Great Britain France and Ireland Queen Defender 
of the Faith &c Annoq Dni 1713  Anthony Varder to be 
his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who subscribed
our names hereto as Witnesses in the Testator's presence  William
Humphys Samuell Bishop Tho Woodward
