In the Name of God Amen
the Two and twentieth day of October Anno Dni one thousand Six hundred
Seaventy and Seaven in the nyne and twentieth yeare of the reigne of our Sovreigne
Lord King Charles the second over England &c I James Trew thelder of the 
towne and county of poole Merchant being in perfect health of body and of sound 
and perfect memory (thankes bee given to God for the same) being desirous to settle 
things in order knowing the encertenietie of this life on earth Doe make this 
my last will and testament in writing in manner and forme following (that is to say) First 
and principally I committ my Soule into the hands of Almighty God my Creator and
heavenly father assuredly trusting and beleeveing that I shall receive full pardon
and free remission of all my sinns and bee saved by the precious death and meritts of 
my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Christ Jesus and my body to the earth from 
whence it was taken to bee buried in such decent and christian manner as to my 
Executrix hereafter named shall bee thought meete and convenient And as 
touching such worldly estate as the Lord in mercy hath lent mee and bestowed 
upon mee my will and meaning is the same shall bee imployed and bestowed as
hereafter in and by this my will is expressed and declared And first I doe revoke 
and make void All wills by mee formerly made either by word or writing and 
doe appoint and declare this only to bee my last will and testament Item I 
give and devise unto my loveing wife Anna my dwelling house in the towne and
county of Poole aforesaid withall the roomes backsides priviledges and apPURtennces
to the same belonging and now in my possession which I lately bought and 
purchased of Mr Bramble To hold the same unto her my said wife and her assignes 
for and dureing the whole tyme and terme of her naturall life and my will is 
and I doe hereby declare the same to bee that in case shee my said wife shall bee 
minded to sell the same dwelling house to any person or persons whatsoever I doe 
hereby give unto her my said wife full power and authority soe to doe and the 
monyes by Sale thereof to bee by her soe made and raised to give and dispose the
same to and amongst my Children (vizt) James Trew Anna Willie and Mary
Trew or to any or either of them as shee my said wife shall thinke fitt to doe in
and by her last will and testament in writing or otherwise howsoever And in case 
that shee my said wife shall not sell the said dwelling house Then my will is and I
doe hereby give unto her my said wife full power and authority to give dispose and 
devise the same house to all any or either of my said Children in and by her last 
will and testament or otherwise according to her owne will and good likeing for such
time and in such manner and upon such Conditions and provisoes as shee my
said wife shall thinke fitt to lymitt and appoint Item I give unto my said sonne
James Trew his heires and assignes forever (after the decease of my said wife) my
Halfe Tythes at Westport neere ??arham Item I give unto my said daughter Mary
Trew the summe of One hundred pounds to bee paid unto her within one yeare next


after my decease by my Executrix hereafter named Item I give unto my said sonne 
James Trew tenn shilings and to my sonne in law John Willie and unto my said 
daughter Anna his wife I give tenn shillings a peece to bee paid within three 
monethes next after my decease All the rest of my goods and chattells whatsoever 
and wheresoever they bee And all my money plate jewells rings of gold and 
implements of household not before by mee given and bequeathed in and by this my
said will after my debts (if any bee) my said legacies and funerall expences are
satisfied and paid) I give the same unto her the said Anna my said loveing wife 
whom I make ordeyne and appoint to bee the sole Exrix of this my last will and 
testament And I doe appoint and desire my loveing kinsmen Mr Edward Vye
of Arne and Mr Henry Jubber of Poole aforesaid to bee Overseeres of this my said 
will and testament and to bee aideing and assisting to my Executrix in the due 
execucon and performance thereof unto whom I give tenne shillings a peece as a 
token of my love In witnesse whereof I the said James Trew the elder have 
hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare above written James Trew
Subscribed Sealed published and declared by him the said James Trew thelder
to bee his last will and testament in the presence of Miles Bownes 
William Phillips Mary King Elizabeth Webster
