Be it knowne to all cristen people that I Robert Thorne of Bristowe
marchannt wryte this wt my hand my will and my testament In the yere of our
lord m v c xvii the xx day of Januar in good mynde and in goode helthe of body
thankes be god Amen In the name of god and one blessed Lady and all the holy
company of hevyn to pray for me that I maye so doo at this tyme for to come to 


the blessed company of hevyn And that I bequeth my soule to allmyghty god and to oure
blessed Lady and my body to the holy Church grave in the Crowde of Saint Nichas 
Church And also I bequethe to the moder Church of Worcestur v d And I bequeth to the
Church of Sain Nichas as for RePARacons xxvi s viii d And I bequethe to the vycar of sent
Nichas Church for forgoten tythyngs xx s Also I will have a goode prest to praye for
my soule in saint Nichas Churche vi yeres and he to have vi l evry yere Also I will have 
viii poore men that shall bere ?iii torches and they shall have evry man a gowne and for
beryng of the torches viii d a man And also I will have at my burying to be gyven to 
poore men and wymen iiii l in bred and evry man and woman i d in money And at my
monethes mynde also mothe And at my xii monethes mynde at mothe as is before wryten Also
that I bequethe to the foure Ordres of Freris to evry place xx s to pray for my sould Also I 
bequeth to the iiii Almes houses to every place iiii s and to newgate to the prisoners iiii s
Also I bequeth to Dame Elyn Thorn my Daughter vi l xiii s iiii d in Redy money And A
standing Cuppe wt a cover weying xx ouncs A Salte with A cover that weyeth xx ouncs
to pray for my soule Also I bequethe to every Nonne in the place to pray for my soule xii d
Also I bequethe to Margery my Sister of Saint Albones vii l xii s iiii d and a furred Gowne in
grayne Also I bequeth to hir husband A minster De Veles gowne furre wt fox Also I bequeth
to my brother Will Thorn ?? ii Daughters that be Faderles that oon is called Phelipp and the other
Rose ii l to evry of them And that my Syster Margery to have the Guyding of the money tyll
they be Abill to be maried Itm I bequethe to Willm Wossley my best Scarlett gowne and
my Scarlett Cloke and to his wif my Cremesyn gowne and vi l xiii s iiii d in Redy money to 
pray for my soule Also I bequeth to Willm Wossleys vii children lxx ouncs of plate and xiiii l
in Redy money And Rose his Daughter xxx ouncs plate and xv l in Redy money And to be 
Delyvered to all them when they be able to be maried And also and any of thise doo
departe to god then I will that this good be departed from oon to an other that Longer
lyveth Also I bequeth to Robert Thorne my Sonne lx l in Redy money and lx ouncs in
plate Also I bequeth to Nichas Thorn my sonne lx l in Redy money and lx ouncs in plate 
Also I bequethe to Alice thorn my daughter lx l in Redy money and lx ouncs of plate and the
thryd parte of all my houshold and she be able to be maried by the use of her frends and of 
myn Executor Also if there be any of thise iii PERsones departe to god that then they that lyveth
longer that it goo from oon to an other And so be that that they departe to god all as god
forbede That then I wold the oon half go to the Charterhousse of Wyttam and the other 
half to the hye wayes aboute Bristowe Also I bequeth to Johan Thorne my wif ii c l in 
Redy money and ii c ouncs of plate and xx c weight of v?chell and ii parts of all my houshold
stuff and no more And also I bequethe to saint Augustines Churche to the buyldyng of 
the new church A pype of Iron and xl s in redy money to praye for my Soule And I beqthe
to oure lady chapell upon the bryge of Brystowe xxvi s viii d Also I bequethe to the 
hye ways aboute Bristowe x l where ther is most nede Also I bequethe to saint
Nichas Crowde where my body shalbe buried a housse that I bought late of 
John Colasse that lyethe in saint Nichas Strete And I wold that the proctures of the 
crowde shall fynde for my soule a terment evry yere to the value of v s by yere and to
be prayed fore in the pulpytt evry Sunday Also I have A seller full of Salte wherein is
lxxxxiiii tonne of salt and this I gyve to the almes housse of the iii kyngs of Colen evry 
yere viii s to pay quaterly ii s And to the Almes housse at the graye Frerrs vii s paid 
evry yere quarterly ii s and to the almes housse in the Long Rowe evry yere viii s to be pd 
quarter ii s And newgate viii s yerely to be paid quarterly ii s as long as money of this
Salte will last to pray for my soule Also I gyve to the Almes housse where there be at 
laffords yate to the rePARacon of the bedds where the poore men lye in xxvi s vii d Also I 
bequethe and gyve to the tremte at lafford yate to the RePARacon of the land liii s iii d
Also I make myne Executors Sir John Godryge PARson of Cristchurch and Willm Wossley
and John Wyat myne executors and to evry of them I gyve x l in Redy money and
evry of them a blacke gowne And to se my will and my debts paid and my will
fulfilled And the rest of all my goodes to be sold and doon for my soule where
that ye fynde most nede ? I require as ye will annswer to for god that this be doo as
god knoweth my mynde ? I put my full trust in you for & god send me space & grace I wold 
doo it my self
