In the Name of God Amen
I Luke Spicer of the Parish of Kingstone in the Island of Portsea and in the
County of Hampshire Esqr Do make and ordaine this my last Will and
Testament in writing as followeth Imprimis I give and bequeath
my Soul to Almighty God that Gave it and my Body to the Earth
to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter
named Item my Will and Mind is that all my Just Debts be first paid
and Satisfied Item as to the Worldly Estate That it hath pleased
the Almighty to bestow upon me I give devise and bequeath as
followeth Whereas I am intituled and Interested in and unto the
Revertion Remainder and Equity of Redemption of Certaine
houses Lands Tenements or hereditaments in Crutchet Fryers in the
City of London as heir at Law to my late Father John Spicer Deceased
and by purchase I have and do hold certaine Lands Tenements and
hereditaments Scituate lying and being near the Town of Portsmouth
in the Said County of Hampshire and haveing already made good
provision for my Eldest Son Ralph Spicer and Settled on him besides the
Sume of twelve hundred pounds and he being otherwise intituled to
my Estate in the County of Essex late the Estate of my Said late
Father by means of all which provisions I became less able to
provide for my Younger Children and being So bound up I have
notwithstanding at my own Charge and Expence maintained
and Educated my Said Son and am thereby intituled to payment from
him for Such his maintenance and Education to the time of my death
at the rate of 20 PER Anno all which said Estates in Crutchett Fryars
and in the County of Hampshire ^ I give devise and bequeath                     ^ and the said Twenty Pounds per
together with all my Linnen wearing apparrell Household Goods                     Annum for my said Son's
Plate utensells and Furniture of house whatsoever and all other                   Maintenance and Education as
the rest and residue of my Real and personall Estate whatsoevever                 before set forth
to my daughter Susanna Spicer and to her heirs for ever in and under
the special trust and confidence that she shall and will thereout
maintaine and Educate my three youngest children who are all
together unprovided for Vizt Richard Spicer Abigall Spicer and
Philip Spicer and therewith to bring them up to such business and
Employ as they shall be found capable off and in case my said



Daughter Susanna Shall happen to dye unmarryed and without Issue
of her body then my Will and mind is that all my Said real and personall
Estate So devised to her as aforesaid or so much thereof as shall not be by
her Expended and laid out on the maintenance and Education of my said
three Children or for her won use Shall go remaine and be to my said three
Children Richard Abigall and Phillip equally divided amongst them Share
and Share alike and my further Will Mind and desire is That my Said Son
Ralph Do pay to my said Daughter Susanna the Sume of twenty pounds
PER Annum to the time of my death for such his Maintenance and Education
and in case my said Daughter Susanna dye as aforesaid then the same
to be paid to the use of my said Three Children   without any Sint
Molestation or Trouble  Item I do hereby ordaine and appoint my
said daughter Susanna Spicer my Sole Executrix of this my last Will &
Testament and do revoke disanull and make Void all former and other
Wills and Testaments whatsoever In Witness whereof I have
hereunto Set my hand and Seal this twenty fifth day of July in the
Seventh Year of the Reigne of our Soveraigne Lord King George
and in the Year of our Lord 1721  L Spicer  Signed Sealed published &
declared by the Said Luke Spicer to be his last Will and Testament In
the presence of us who in his presence have subscribed our names
as Witnesses thereto  Tho Bawtree  Will Wall  Robt Silburn

Probatum fuit [this paragraph continues in Latin to grant probate at London 29 October 1721]
