In the Name of God Amen
I Christopher Spencer of Arundell in the County of Sussex
Basket Maker being Infirm in Body but of perfect sound



Mind and Memory (Thanks be to God) Do Make And Ordain
this to be my Last Will and Testament (Revoking and making
Null and Void all former and other Will or Wills by Me at any
time or time heretofore Made in manner and form following
(That is to day) First I commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty
God and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently Buried at the
Discretion of my Executor hereinafter named And as touching the
Disposition of all such Temporal Estate wherein it hath pleased God
to Bestow upon Me I give and dispose thereof as followeth First 
I Will that my Debts and Funeral Expences be paid and discharged
in the first place Also I give devise and bequeath unto my
Daughter Sarah Spencer and her Heirs for ever All that my
Messuage or Tenement Backside and Garden with the
Appurtenances thereunto belonging Situate lying and being in
Arundell aforesaid and now in the Occupation of Thomas Pennyrudd
or his Assigns and also all that my Freehold Land Situate Lying
and being under Offham Hill in the parish of Southstoke in the said
County of Sussex Also I give and bequeath unto my said Daughter
Sarah Spencer the Sum of One Hundred Pounds of lawful Money of
Great Britain to be paid unto Her by my Executor hereinafter named
Also I give and Bequeath unto my said Daughter Sarah Spencer
my Bed and furniture in my Great Chamber and my black great
arm'd Chair and six other black Chairs One square Table with a
Drawer One Looking Glass with a Frame a Fire pan and Tongs with
brass Knobs a pair of brass Candlesticks One pair of Gridirons a pair
of Iron Tongs a pair of Potthangers a pair of Andirons with racks to
them One Oval Table Two Brass Skillets Six Pewter Dishes (marked
S.S.) Twelve Sycamore Plates my Best Boxiron with the Heaters
Six Knives six Forks my two Best Joint Stools One Wheel Spit One
Chest with Drawers together with all the Linen therein in the Great
Chamber One Brass Pestle and Morter One Porridge Pot with
Hooks One Close Stool Four white Ashen Chairs in the Parlour
One Trunk One Chest One Brass Flower Box One Cheese Plate
One Iron Fender and one warming Pan all which Goods are
within and about my Dwelling House in Arundell aforesaid Also I
give and bequeath unto my Daughter Tryphena Jones Widow
All and every such Sum and Sums of Money which shall at the 
time of my Decease be Owing and unpaid by William Legg for
Arrears of Rent for the Copyhold Estate unto which She is
Admitted Tenant within the Mannor of Byworth and
Warningcamp within the said County of Sussex Also One
New pair of Sheets and One Pair of Pillow Coats unmade
Also I give devise and Bequeath unto my Son Charles Spencer
and his Heirs for ever All those my Messuages or Tenements
Backsides Gardens and Premises with the Appurtenances
thereunto belonging Situate Lying and Being in Arundell
aforesaid and now in the Occupation of Thomas Parlett
William Blackman and my Self And also my Barn Orchard
and Land in the Mill Lane in Arundell aforesaid Chargeable
nevertheless and I do hereby Charge all the aforesaid Premises
herein by Me given and Devised unto my said Son Charles
Spencer with the payment of all and singular my Debts Legacies



and Funeral Expences And my Further Will is And I do hereby
require that my said Son Charles Spencer shall without any Fee
or reward whatsoever permit and suffer the several Goods herein
before bequeathed unto my aforesaid Daughter Sarah Spencer
by Me to remain Continue and Be in my Dwelling House in
Arundell aforesaid until She my said Daughter shall meet with
a proper Opportunity to remove the Same Also all the rest
residue and Remainder of my Goods Chattels rights Credits
real and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (except
herein before by Me Devised and Bequeathed) I give devise and
Bequeath unto my said Son Charles Spencer and his Heirs for
ever Whom I make constitute and Appoint full and sole Executor
of this my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof unto
this my Last Will and Testament I have hereunto set my Hand
and Seal this first Day of October in the Year of our Lord One
Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty and four  Christopher Spencer
his Mark Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the Testator
to be his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us whose
Hands and Names are hereunto Subscribed  Thomas Parlett
Sarah Botold  Dan Sefton

This Will was proved at London on the Eighteenth
Day of August In the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven
Hundred and Thirty five Before the Worshipful John Andrew
Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the right Worshipful John Bettesworth also
Doctor of Laws Master Keeper of Commissary of the Prerogative
Court of Canterbury lawfully Constituted By Charles Spencer the
Son and Sole Executor named in the said Will To Whom
administration was granted of all and Singular the Goods
Chattells and Credits of the Deceased He haveing first made
a solemn and sincere Declaration or affirmation well and
truely to administer the Same
