In the name of the Father and
and of the sonne and of the holy Ghost Amen knowing my selfe to bee
mortall and subiect to death the tyme whereof dayly experieine teacheth mee
to be uncertayne and reserved to gods secrett knowledge onely Having
								therefore


Thereford a care and desire in tyme to avoyd and prevent contention and 
variance which commonly I see doe ensue after the death of such as dye in-
testate about the Trash and beggerly Pelph of this most wicked world I 
Mary Roberts of Holebrooke in the County of Sommersett Spinster being 
sicke of body but of perfect mynd and memory blessed be god therefore And 
thinkeing it my duty not to deferre from day to day but to prepare my selfe in 
a readinesse against the tyme that it shall please the Lord my god to call me to
him selfe doe this nyneth day of May in the yeare of our Lord god one Thousand 
six hundred fiftie and nyne according to the Computacon of the Church of England 
ordayne and make this my last will and Testament in manner and forme here-
after ensueing First I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of my most 
gracious and mercifull Lord god the Father the sonne and the holy Ghost 
being most certainly perswaded That my sinnes which are most heavy & greivous
are forgiven And my election sealed up in the only blood and merritts of my Lord
Saviour Jesus Christ by whome only and by noe other meanes I faithfully hope
and beleeve my redemption is made sure and certaine according  to the unspeake-
able love of god twoards mankind Secondly This Tabernacle of my earthly body
wherein it hath pleased god I should walke here upon the earth created for his 
honer but misused by me to his great dishonor I doe committ unto the earth from
whence it came The same to be buried and layd up in such place as it shall
????? good to my executor There to remayne untill the day of resurrection
of all ????? when my soule and body shall I trust and doubt not be ????ed toge-
ther in everlasting Joye Now touching such my worldly substance and that
poore estate which it hath pleased Almighty god of his great goodnes and 
mercy to bestowe upon mee most unworthy and wretched sinner I give settle 
and bequeath in manner and forme following That is to say Imprimis I
give and bequeath    unto my Cousin Thomas Roberts of Wester-
ly in the County of Gloucester esquire the somme of one hundred pounds
The same to be paid unto him the said Thomas Roberts his assignee or as-
signes within Two yeares next after the decease of my sister Elizabeth
Farewell Item I give to my said Cousin Thomas Roberts all that my
house or Tenement with the appurtenances thereunto belonging lying 
in Marsh streete in the Citty of Bristoll now in the possession of the 
widow Waterman her assignee or assignes And whereof the said 
widow Waterman hath a Lease for certaine yeares yet to come at a yeare-
ly rent thereon reserved To have and to hold the said Tenement with the ap-
purtenances unto my said Cousin Thomas Roberts and his heires forever 
from and ymmediatly after the death of my said sister Elizabeth Farwell
and not before My will being That my said sister Farwell and her assignes
shall from tyme to tyme take and receave to her owne use the whole PROfitts
and benefitt thereof dureing her life Item I give and bequeath unto my
said Cousin Thomas Roberts my guilt Bason and Ewer my silver Chafeing
dish one downe bed now in the possession of one Michaell Deyos of the said
Citty of Bristoll merchant And my best white Rugge All which last
menconed premisses my will is shalbe delivered unto my said Cousin
Thomas Roberts or his assignes if hee bee then living within one quarter 
of a yere after the decease of my said sister Elizabeth Farwell whome 
my will is alsoe shall have the free use thereof dureing her naturall life
Item I give unto my said Cousin Thomas Roberts and his wife for
mourning scarfes and gloves five pounds Item I give and bequeath unto
my Cousin Nicholas Roberts of Westerly aforesaid gentleman the somme 
of one hundred pounds the same to be paid unto him the said Nicholas 
Roberts his assigne or assignes within two yeares next after the decease 
of my said sister Elizabeth Farwell Item I give unto my said

Cousin Nicholas Roberts my parcell guilt Flaggon and my guilt salt head
and Cover All which last menconed premisses my will is shalbe delivered to
my said Cousin Nicholas Roberts or his assignes if he bee then living wth
in one quarter of a yeare after the decease of my said sister Elizabeth Far-
well whome my will alsoe is shall have the free use thereof dureing her naturall
life Item I give unto my said Cousin Nicholas Roberts for a mourning scarfe 
and gloves five pounds Item I give and bequeath unto my Cousin Susanna
Brice eldest daughter of my brother Thomas Roberts late of Westerly aforesaid 
esquire deceased The somme of one hundred pounds The same to be paid unto
her the said Susanna Brice her assignee or assignes within two yeares next
after the decease of my said sister Elizabeth Farwell Item I give unto my
said Cousin Susanna Brice for a mourning scarfe and gloves five pounds 
Item I give and bequeath unto my Cousin Mary Jones her sister the some 
of one hundred pounds The same to be paid unto her the said Mary Jones 
her assignee and assignes within Two yeares next after the decease of my
said sister Elizabeth Farwell which said last menconed hundred pounds 
my will is that the same shalbe freely disposed of by my said Cousin Mary
as shee shall appoint if shee be then living Item I give unto my said 
Cousin Mary Jones for mourning scarfes and gloves for her husband
five pounds Item I give and bequeath unto my Cousin Thomas Farwell
of Horsington in the County of Sommersett gentleman the somme of one
hundred pounds The same to bee paid unto him the said Thomas Farwell
his assignee or assignes within two yeares next after the decease of my said 
sister Elizabeth Farwell Item I give unto my said Cousin Thomas Farwell
and his wife for mourning scarfes and gloves five pounds Item I give unto
Judith Farwell the now wife of my said Cousin Thomas Farwell my best
gold Braceletts To be delivered to my said Cousin Judith Farwell if shee
be then living within one quarter of a yeare after the decease of my said 
sister Elizabeth Farwell whome my will is alsoe shall have the free use thereof dureing 
her naturall life Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas Roberts the sonne of 
my Cousin John Roberts of Bristoll gent the somme of fifty pounds the same
to be paid within two yeares next after my decease for the use benefit and behoofe
of the said Thomas Roberts if he be then living Item I give and bequeath unto Mary
Deyes my god-daughter eldest daughter of the said Michaell Deyas of the Citty
of Bristoll merchant fifty pounds the same to bee paid within two yeares
next after my decease And to her alsoe I give for a mourning scarfe & gloves 
Twenty shillings Item I give unto her said father Michaell Deyas for a 
mourning scarfe and gloves Twenty shillings Item I give & bequeath 
unto Giles Earle of the said Citty of Bristoll gent for a mourning scarfe 
and gloves Twenty shillings Item I give and bequeath unto Mathew Wolfe
of the said Citty of Bristoll gent for a mourning scarfe and gloves Twenty
shillings Item I give and bequeath unto the mayd Frances That my said
brother Thomas Roberts placed with William Gaynes and his wife as an
apprentice the somme of Tenne pounds The same to be paid unto her the
said Frances if shee be then living within one quarter of a yeare next after 
the decease of my said sister Elizabeth Farwell Item I give unto the minister
of Charleton Musgrove whome I desire to preach my funerall sermon 
Twenty shillings Item I give unto Mr Bulgin the minister of Shepton Mon-
tague Twenty shillings Item I give unto Walter Card Sarah Arnold 
Thomas Wilton and Robert Dane now servants to my brother in law Tho-
mas Farwell of Holebrooke in the County of Sommersett Esquire the 
somme of five pounds a peece The same to be paid within Two yeares next
after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto Nicholas Pike and to Bridgett
Style two other of my said brother in law his servants forty shillings a peece

The same to be paid within two yeares next after my decease And to David Mathewes
his boy Twenty shillings The same likewise to be paid within two yeares after
my decease as alsoe unto Mary Wilkins one other of his servants Twenty shil-
lings the same likewise to be paid within two yeares next after my decease Item I 
give unto the poore of Charleton Musgrove aforesaid the somme of forty shillings 
Item I give and bequeath unto David Williams of Horsington aforsaid in the said 
County of Sommersett Clerke and George Hearty of Suddon in the said County gent 
whome I desire and appoint to be the overseers of this my last will and Testament the
somme of Twenty shillings a peece All the rest and remainder of my goods money
plate and Chattells whatsoever not already hereby given and disposed of I give 
and bequeath unto my said brother in lawe Thomas Farwell ??? Elizabeth
his wife my said sister whome I appoint instiatute and make my executors 
of this my last will and Testament willing  and chargeing them in any
wise to avoyd all vayne and superfluous expences about my funerall And 
as farre forth as in them or eyther of them lyeth That they and eyther of 
them see this my last will and Testament Truely and faithfully in all
poynts fulfilled and performed wherein I salsoe desire my said overseers
to bee aydeing and assisting from tyme to tyme as occasion shall require In
witnes whereof I have hereunto put my hand The day and yeare first 
within menconed being the Nyneth day of May in the yeare of our Lord god
