This is the last Will and Testament of me James Reeks of the Common in the Island of Portsea of Portsmouth in the County of Southampton Shipwright First and principally I commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God hoping through the Merits of my Saviour Jesus Christ to obtain Free pardon and Remission of all my Sins and inherit Everlasting Life and my Body I commit to the Ground to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named and as touching the disposition of all such temporal Estate as it hath pleased almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as follows Imprimis I will that my debts and Funeral Charges be paid and discharged Item In Case my Goods and Chattels are sufficient for the payment of my Debts I give and bequeath my Freehold Estate lying and being situate in the West Borough of Wimbourn Minster unto my loving Wife Elizabeth Reeks during her natural Life and after her decease I give and bequeath and devise the forementioned Freehold Freehold Estate unto my Child or Children that shall happen to be then alive to be divided between them at the Discretion of my Wife Elizabeth Reeks Item I give and bequeath one Messuage or Tenement situate in the Town and County of Pool in the High Street now in the possession of Elizabeth Brickle joining to the Mansion House now in the possession of Sarah Bird I give devise and bequeath the Messuage or Tenement unto my loving wife Elizabeth Reeks for and during so many years of the said Term as shall run out and expire in her Life time and from and after her decease I give devise and bequeath the said Messuage or Tenement unto my Child or Children that shall happen to be then alive to be divided between them at the discretion of my loving wife Elizabeth Reeks or my Executors in Trust hereafter named to be their and their Heirs for ever Item all the Rest and Residue of my Goods and Chattels I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Elizabeth Reeks during her natural Life and after her decease I give and bequeath the said Goods and Chattels unto my Child or Children that shall happen to be then alive to be divided between them at the discretion of my wife Elizabeth Reeks or my Executors In Trust hereafter named to be their and their Heirs for ever Item I do ordain and appoint my loving wife Elizabeth Reeks to be Executrix of this my last Will and Testament Lastly I nominate and apoint my Brother John Reeks and Thomas Bird of Pool my Wifes Brother to be my Executors in Trust of this my last Will and Testament and in Case my Goods and Chattels should not be sufficient for the payment of my Debts they shall have power to sell any part of my Lands for the payment thereof In Witness whereof I the said James Reeks to this my last Will and TEstament have set my Hand and Seal this twelfth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty two and in the twenty first year of the Reign of King George the second James Reeks LS Signed Sealed published and declared to be my last Will and Testament in the presence of James Collins James Reeks Mary Jerrett Timothy Bird This Will was proved at London on the twenty sixth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty three before the Worshipful Sir Edward Simpson Right Knight Doctor of Law Master Keeper or Commisary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Elizabeth Reeks Widow the Relict of the said deceased and one of the Executors named in the said Will to whom administration of the Good Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased was granted she having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer power reserved of making the like Grant to John Reeks the Brother of the said Deceased and Thomas Bird the other Executors when they or either of them shall apply for the same
