In the Name of God Amen
I James Quinton of the Parish of
Ringwood in the County of Southampton
Newfoundland Planter being very weak in
Body but of sound Mind and Memory Do make
and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament
touching the disposal of all my worldly Estate
and Effects in manner and form following  that
is to say  Imprimus I give devise and bequeath
unto my Brother Henry Quinton my Brother 
in Law James Tuff and Mr Thomas Wait of
Ringwood in the County of Southampton
aforesaid Tallow Chandler all those my four
Boats Rooms situate and being at Bonavista
Harbour in Newfoundland in America with all
Flakes Wharfs Stages Cordage Goods and Effects
whatsoever to the said Rooms and every of
them belonging with their and every of their
appurtenances also my Schooner called the 
William and Betsey now lying in Pool
Harbour with all her Tackle and Appurtenances
and also all my Household and other Goods Chattels
and Effects in Ringwood aforesaid together
with all other my Estate and Effects both Real
and Personal wheresoever they be and of
whatsoever nature or kind To hold unto them
the said Henry Quinton James Tuff and
Thomas Wait and the survivors of them and
the Heirs Executors and administrators of such
Survivor In Trust for my dear Wife Elizabeth
Quinton and my three Children namely
Elizabeth William and James in equal Shares
and Proportions and I make them my said
Trustees Guardians for my said Children
during their minority and in case of the
death of my said Wife or either of my said
Children the part or share or parts or shares
of them or any or either of them so dying



shall go to the survivors of them in equal shares
and proportions and I make nominate constitute and
appoint them the said Henry Quinton James Tuff
and Thomas Wait joint Executors of this my last
Will and Testament In Trust for the purposes
aforesaid hereby impowering them to reimburse
themselves respectively out of my said Effects all
such reasonable Costs and Charges as they shall
severally sustain or be put unto in the Execution
of this my Will and the Trust hereby reposed in
them Lastly I hereby revoke and make void all
former and other Wills by me heretofore made
and publish and declare this to be my last Will
and Testament In Testimony whereof I have
hereunto set my Hand and Seal this tenth day of
March in the year of our Lord on thousand seven
hundred and eighty  James Quinton  Signed
sealed published and declared by the said Testator
as and for his last Will and Testament in the
presence of us  The mark of x Ann Green widow
The mark of x John Rabbits  Pete Slann

NB It is the Testators Desire that his
Rooms at Newfoundland is never to be Sold but
to be Let for the most Rent that can be gotten for
the same  This Memorandum is added immediately
after the Execution of this Will by the desire of the
Testator in the presence of Ann Green and John
Rabbits two of the subscribing Witnesses and also
in my presence As Witness my Hand this 10th day of
March 1780  Peter Slann the other subscribing Witness
to the said Will

This Will was proved at London the twenty sixth
day of October in the year of Our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and eighty before the Right Worshipful
Peter Calvert Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or
Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
lawfully constituted by the Oath of Henry Quinton
one of the Executors named in the said Will to whom
Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels
and Credits of the deceased was granted he having
been first sworn by Commission duly to administer
Power reserved of making the like Grant to James
Tuff and Thomas Wait the other Executors named in
the said Will when they or either of them shall
apply for the same
