In the Name of God Amen
I Robert Mudge late belonging to his Majesties Ship Barfleur and now
belonging to his Majesties Ship Severn Captaine Stepney Comander &
now bound to Sea being well in body and of sound and perfect mind and
memory praise therefore be given to Almighty God Doe make Ordaine
this my present last will and testament in manner and forme following
that is to say First and principally I commend my Soule into the hands of
Almighty God hopeing through the meritts death and passion of my
Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free & pardon & forgivenesse of
all my sinns and to inherit evrlasting life & my body I committ to the
earth to be decently buried at discretion of my Executor Richard Blackford
of New Crosse in Deptford Surry Victualer also hereafter named And
as touching the disposition of all such temporall estate as it hath pleased
Almighty God to bestow upon mee I give devise and dispose thereof as followeth
First I will that my Debts and funerall expences shall be first paid and
discharged Item I give devise and bequeath unto my loving freind Whitlock
Deane of the Inner Temple London Esqr now living by the Hermitage
staired in the parish of St Dunstant Stepney als Stebonheath in
the County of Middlesex the summe of Tenn shillings to buy him a
ring to be paid by my Executor within a month after my decease All
the rest and residue of my reall or personall estate goods wages effects
debts, bonds, bills, householdstuffe, plate, rings, jewells summe and summes
of money Chattells whatsoever not by me hereby devised I doe give and
bequeath unto my loveing freind Richard Blackford Senior of New
Crosse in the parish of Deptford in the County of Surrey Victualer
Which Richard Blackford I doe make and appoint full and sole Executor
of this my last Will and Testament And doe hereby revoke disannull and
make void All former Wills and Testaments by mee heretofore made In
witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale to this my last will
and Testament being contained One sheet of paper this eighteenth day of October
Anno Dni 1701 And in the thirteenth yeare of the reigne of our Sovreigne Lord William the third King of
England Scotland France & Ireland  Defender of the faith &c  Robert Mudge  Signed
sealed published and delivered in the presence of Laurence Goldsborough Mealman at the
Hermitage by the Tower Middx Pett Gorden living at the New castle and Ostrich by ye Hermitage
ingh St Katerines Victualer Charles Crowther a Glazier at the Hermitage
