I Margaret Monk of the Town & County of Poole Widow do hereby revoke all wills Codicils and other testamentary dispositions made by me at any time or times heretofore and do publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament I direct my debts funeral and testa mentary expences and Legacies to be paid out of my personal Estate and Effects and I hereby charge all my personal Estate of what nature or kind soever with the payment of all my debts funeral and testamentary expences legacies and annuities as well such as I shall hereby give as also such other Legacies and annuities as I may hereafter give by any Codicil or Codicils to this my will I give and bequ eath the following Sums to the persons hereinafter mentioned (that is to say) to my Sister Sarah Page of Gosport in the County of Southampton widow the Sum of two hundred pounds to and for her own use and benefit to be paid her within two calendar months next after my decease to my Nephews Richard Humph rey William Page and William Humfrey the Sum of one hundred pounds each for his own respective use and benefit to be paid within three Calendar Months next after my decease to my Nieces Martha Willis and Susannah Ledgard the Wife of George Welch Ledgard of Poole aforesaid Esquire the Sum of two hundred pounds each to and for their and each of their separate use and benefit to be paid them within three Calendar months next after my decease to my Nieces Ann Humfrey Elizabeth West Hannah Lys the wife of Lys of Wingfield in the County of Southampton yeoman Mary Priestly the wife of Preistly a Major in the York Militia Martha Revons Eliza Stroud Susanna Snook Daurs of Niece Martha Willis and Eliza Revens the daughter of the said Martha Revens the sum of one hundred pounds each for their and each of their own sole and separate use and benefit and to be paid them and each of them within three Calendar months next after my decease to my Nephew Thomas Green and my nieces Maria Skifner Susanna Pead Ann Brickwood Harriet Margaret Curtis Eliza Johnson and Sarah Cook Daughters of my Brother John and Young Green the Sum of twenty pounds each for their and each of their own use and benefit to be paid within three Calendar months next after my decease to my Cousin Margaret Pitt the sum of twenty pounds to and for her own separate use and benefit to Mary Gleed of Poole aforesaid widow the Sum of ten pounds for her separate use and benefit to my former Servant Betty Poole the Sum of ten pounds for her separate use and benefit to Ann Tuck formerly a Servant to Frances Ashburner of Poole aforesaid widow the sum of ten pounds for her sepa rate use and benefit the four last mentioned legacies to be paid within two Calendar months next after my decease to George Kemp of Poole aforesaid Esquire the Sum of twenty pounds as a remuneration for his trouble in receiving part of my Interest monies to my Nephews and Nieces John West Young West Susannah West Eliezer West and Sarah West the Sum of twenty pounds each for his and her separate use and benefit to Lock Phippard of Poole aforesaid Blockmaker the Sum of ten pounds for his use and benefit to George Ledgard and Richard Ledgard the sons of the said George Welch Ledgard the Sum of fifty pounds each to my Nephew Henry Monk Lake of Taunton in the County of Somerset the Sum of fifty pounds to Martin Kemp Welsh the elder of Poole aforesaid Banker the Sum of two hundred pounds for his own use and benefit and I hereby direct that all the said several legacies hereinbefore given and for the payment of which no particular period is fixed shall be paid within six Calendar months after my decease Also I give and bequeath to the Reverend Thomas Durant Pastor of a Church or Soci ety of Protestant Dissenters called Independants assembling in or near a street called Skinner Street in Poole aforesaid or other the Pastor of the said Church or Society at the time of my decease the Sum of twenty pounds for their use and benefit also I give and bequeath the Sum of fifty pounds to be raised and paid out of my personal Estate tot he Deacons for the time being of the aforesaid Church or Society of Protestant dissentors meeting in Pool aforesaid and the receipt of the said deacons shall be a sufficient discharge to y Executors for the same the said Sum to be by the said Deacons laid out and distributed amongst the poor of the congregation at their discretion Also I give and bequeath to the Treasurer for the time being of the said meeting the Sum of Fifty pounds to be appointed for and towards the expences attending the repairs thereof and the receipt of such Treasurer shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors for the same I give and bequeath unto the Treasurer for the time being of a certain Volun -tary Society called Highbury College (late Hoxton Academy) for educating young men for the work of the Ministry the Sum of Fifty pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland to be paid free of legacy dutys within six Calendar months next after my decease out of such part only of my personal Estate as shall not consist of Chattels real Upon Trust to be applied towards carrying on the purposes of the said Institution and I do hereby direct & declare that the receipt of the Treasurer for the time being of the said Society for the said legacy shall be a sufficient discharge to my said Executors for the same Also I do hereby give and bequeath unto the Treasurer for the time being of a certain other voluntary Society formed in London in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety five entitled "the Missionary Society" usuallyed called "the London Missionary Society" the Sum of Fifty pounds of like lawful money aforesaid to be paid free of legacy duty within six Calendar months after my decease out of such part only of my personal Estate as shall not consist of Chattels Real Upon Trust to be applied towards the carrying on the purposes of the said Society and I do hereby direct and declare that the receipt of the treasurer for the time being of the said last mentioned Society shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors for the same and I do hereby give and bequeath unto the Secretary or Treasurer for the time being of a certain other Voluntary Society entitled "the British and Foreign Bible Society" the sum of Fifty pounds of like lawful money aforesaid aforesaid to be paid free of Legacy Duty within six Calendar months after my decease out of such part only of my personal Estate as shall not consist of Chattels real Upon trust to be applied towards the carrying on the purposes of the said last mentioned Society and I do hereby direct and declare that the receipts of the secretary or Treasurer for the time being of the said Society shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors for the same Also I give devise and bequeath unto my Niece Ann Humfrey the daughter of my Sister Ann Humfrey All that Messuage Tenement or dwelling house Garden Hereditaments and Premises in which I now reside situate in Hill Street in Poole aforesaid and which I now hold for a long term of years absolute together with all and every the Appurtenances thereto belonging To hold the same and every part thereof with their Appurtenances unto my said Niece the said Ann Humfrey her executors Administrators and Assigns to and for her and their own absolute use and benefit for all such term Estate and Interest as I have therein Also I give and bequeath unto my said Niece Ann Humfrey her Executors Administrators and Assigns all and every the Cupboards Shelves Bells Stoves Grates Jack and other fixtures in and about the said last mentioned dwelling house and Premises so given to her as aforesaid and also all such my house hold goods and Furniture as are not hereinafter specifically bequeathed I give and bequeath unto my Servant Mary Ann Baker if she shall be living with me at the time of my decease the Sum of two hundred pounds to and for her own use and benefit but in case she shall have previously left my Service and ceased to be paid my Servant then instead of the legacy or Sum of two hundred pounds I give and bequeath to her the Sum of ten pounds only and I hereby direct the same to be paid within three Calendar months after my decease Also I give and bequeath unto the said Mary Ann Baker the low drawers in the front Chamber of the house in which I now reside also my Kitchen Clock Also my mock Sarcenot Gown Mock Sa???t Pelisso my ???lin Gown with a Green leaf also my Cloth Cloaks Also all my Cotton Gownsthree dainty petticoats all my flannel Petticoats my black silk ?????? also my dark Silk Gown shaded purple and black my Crimson and black Shawl half a dozen new Cotton Stockings and half a dozen pcket handkerchiefs to and for her own use and benefit I give and bequeath unto my Nephew Young Green West of Poole aforesaid Surgeon my Book case in the Front Chamber of the house in which I now reside Also my Books Prints and Pictures except such Pictures as formerly belonged to my Sister the said Sarah Page I give and bequeath such pictures as formerly belonged to the said Sarah Page unto my Niece the said Hannah Lys I give and bequeath unto my Servants Sarah Sturmey and Mary Ann Baker all my Kitchin Furniture Plates dishes pots Saucepans Tea Kettles Tables Chairs drinking Cups Candlesticks Barrels the whole of my towels and table Cloths three pair of good Sheets three pair of Pillow Cases half a dozen Wine Glasses four Tumblers Bath Stove fire Pan Poker and tongs fender and dressing glass Also all my blue and White tea Cups and Saucers Slop Basins Sugar Basins Cream Jugs (other than Plate) & tea pots equally to be divided between and amongst them share & share alike Provided always that in case of the death of either of them the said Sarah Sturmey and Mary Ann Baker in my life time Then I do hereby direct that the Survivor of them shall be entitled to the share or shares of the other of them so dying I give and bequeath unto the said Sarah Sturmey the use of the Bed Bedstead and Bed Clothes now used by the said Sarah Sturmey and all other the Furniture of the Garret lately occupied by her for her natural life and in case the said Mary Ann Baker shall happen to survive the said Sarah Sturmey then I give the same Articles to the said Mary Ann Baker to and for her own use and benefit I give and bequeath unto Edward Ashburne Kemp Welch the Clock and case bequeathed to me by the said Francis Ashburne I give and bequeath unto my Niece Elizabeth West my Dove Colour satin Gown and Gold Watche for her own use I give and bequeath unto my Nieces the said Susannah Ledgard and Elizabeth West all my rings and lace to be equally divi ded amongst them share and share alike I give and bequeath unto my Nephew the said Young Green West my best set of Table China and two large China Bowls together with the Jars and Beakers in the best Parlour to and for his own use & benefit I give and bequeath unto my Niece the said Martha Willis all the rem ainder of my Clothes not hereinbefore specifically bequeathed and also the remain der of my China and Glass Decanters Wine Glasses Rummers and Tumblers to and for her own use and benefit I give and bequeath unto my Niece Ann Humfrey the remainder of my Table and bed Linen not hereinbefore specifically bequeathed to and for her own use and benefit I give and bequeath unto my Sister Sarah Page my Nephew Young Green West and my Nieces Martha Willis Ann Humfrey and Susannah Ledgard all my Silver Plate equally to be divided between them share and share alike And I do hereby declare my Will to be that my Executors hereinaf ter named and the Survivor of them and the Executors Admors and Assigns of such survivor do and shall as soon as conveniently may be after my decease out of my personal Estate and Effects place or cause to be placed in the Public Stocks or funds a sufficient Sum to bring in or produce a clear yearly Sum or income of twenty pounds without any deduction or abatement whatsoever and do and shall pay the said Sum of twenty pounds to the said Sarah Sturmey and her assigns or otherwise permit her or them to receive the same for and during the term of her natural life the said Annuity or Sum of twenty pounds to be paid and payable to the said Sarah Sturmey quarterly (that is to say) on the twenty fifth day of March the twenty fourth day of June the twenty ninth day of September and the twenty first day of December the first of which payments to be made on such of those days as shall happen next after my decease And I further will order and direct that on the death of the said Sarah Sturmey my Executors hereinafter named do and shall pay the said principal sum so to be invested for securing the said Annuity of twenty pounds to the said Sarah Sturmey as aforesaid together with any arrears of Interest or dividend that may be due at the time of her death unto my niece Elizabeth West to and for her own sole and separate use and benefit I also give and bequeath unto each of them the said Sarah Sturmey and Mary Ann Baker the Sum of ten pounds to be paid within three months after my decease and I direct my Executors here inafter named out of my residuary personal Estate to provide for each of them two suits of mourning I also give and bequeath unto my Servant Grace Maria Baker or any other Servant who shall be living with me at the time of my decease the sum of five pounds and I direct my Executors hereinafter named out of my residu ary personal Estate to provide for the said Grace Maria Baker or such other servant two Suits of mourning And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and whether real or personal or of what other nature or kind soever which I shall die seized possessed of interested in or entitled unto I give devise and bequeath the same unto my Nephew the said Young Green West his heirs executors administrators and assigns absolutely and for ever or according to the nature and quality of the Estates and property respectively And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my Nephews George Welch Ledgard and Young Green West joint Executors of this my will And I do hereby give and bequeath unto the said George Welch Ledgard the Sum of one hundred pounds for the trouble he may have in the execution thereof I do particu larly desire that I may not be interred in less than one week after my decease and that I may be buried in the same Grave or Tomb with my late husband & son And I further request and desire that on the opening of such Grave or Tomb my Executors will be careful to have the bones of my late husband and dear little boy carefully collected and placed together in a new Coffin to be provided by my Executors for that purpose and redeposited in the same Grave or Vault with my remains Provided always and I hereby declare that the said George Welch Ledgard and Young Green West their executors and Admors shall be charged and chargeable with such Sums only as they shall respectively actually receive by virtue of this trusts hereby reposed in them notwithstanding his or their joining in or signing any receipt or receipts or doing any other Act for the sake of conformity and that they or either of them shall not be answerable or accountable for any misfortune loss or damage which may happen in the execution of the aforesaid Trusts except the same shall happen by or through his or their own acts neglects or defaults respectively and in that case each person alone shall be answerable for any loss or damage which shall arise from his own act neglect or default Provided also that it shall and may be lawful for the said George Welch Ledgard and Young Green West and their respective Executors and Administrators from time to time by and out of my Estate and Effects to retain to and reimburse themselves respectively and also to pay and allow to each other all such costs charges and expences as they or either of them shall pay lay out and expend or be put unto in or about the execution of this my will or the trusts hereincontained In Witness whereof I the said Margaret Monk the Testatrix have to this my last will and Testament contained in this and the six preceding sheets of paper set my hand & Seal (to wit) my hand to and at the bottom of each of the said six sheets and my hand and Seal to this last sheet and my seal at the top of the said sheets where all the said Sheets are fixed together this twenty ninth day of August in the year of our writing bearing date on or about the twenty ninth day of August one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven Now I do hereby declare this present writing to be a Codicil to my said Will and I direct the same to be annexed thereto and taken as part thereof And whereas I have by my said Will described my Nephew Young West of Poole aforesaid Surgeon as "Young Green West" Now I do hereby declare that the said Young West was described in my said will as "Young Green West" entirely by mistake and that the person intended by that description was and is my Nephew the said Young West And I do hereby give and bequeath unto my Servant Mary Ann Blake if she shall be living with me at the time of my decease the Sum of fifty pounds to and for her own use and benefit over and above the Sums of two hun dred pounds and ten pounds given to the said Mary Ann Baker in and by my said will Also I hereby give and bequeath unto my Servant Grace Maria Baker if she shall be living with me at the time of my decease the Sum of fifty pounds over and above the Sum of five pounds given to the said Grace Maria Baker in and by my said Will And I direct that the two several legacies of fifty pounds each shall be paid the said Mary Ann Baker and Grace Maria Baker free of legacy duty And I do hereby ratify and confirm my said Will in every respect except as the same may be in any wise altered by this Codicil "Elizabeth West" And Louisa West as "Eliezer West" and "Sarah Ann West" as Sarah West only Now I do hereby declare that the said John Wickens West was described as John West only the said Elizabeth Gaden West as Elizabeth West the said Louisa West as Eliezer West and the said Sarah Ann West as Sarah West entirely by mistake and that the several persons intended by the descriptions of John West Elizabeth West Eliezer West and Sarah Ann West the Son and daughters of my Nephew Young West of Poole aforesaid Surgeon and I do hereby ratify my said Will and the first Codicil bearing date on or about the ninth day of August one thousand eight hundred and thirty two in every respect except as the same or either of them may be in any wise altered by this Codicil In Witness whereof I the said
