In the Name of God Amen


The Seaventh day of October in the second year of the reigne 
of our Sovereign Lady Anne by the grace of God of England 
Scotland France and Ireland Queen Defender of the faith &c
Annoq Dni one thousand seaven hundred and three I James Lock
the elder of Landford in the County of Wiltes yeoman, being not in
perfect health but of perfect and sound memory (blessed by God) But
not knowing how soon it may please God to take me out of this 
mortall life Doe make acknowledge and declare this my last Will
and Testament in manner and forme following (that is to say)
Impr I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my maker 
and to Jesus Christ my most Blessed Saviour and Redeemer 
Trusting through his merrits and satisfaccon to partake of a 
Blessed Resurreccon and my body to be decently buryed in the 
Church yard of Landford aforesaid and my Will is that my
Executrix hereinafter named doe cause a Tombe Stone to be laid 
upon my grave and as for that worldy estate which it hath pleased 
God of his infinite goodness and mercy to bestow upon me I doe dispose 
of as followeth and first I give to the poor of Landford aforesaid Twenty 
shillings lawfull money of England to be paid unto them by my Execu-
-trix hereinafter named and the Minister of the said parish for the time
being to such poor persons as they shall think fitt within three months 
after my decease alsoe I give to my son James Lock that my Farme 
called by the name of Chappell Farme in the parish of West Knoyle 
in the said County of Wiltes To hold to him and his heires during 
the terme and estate heretofore granted to me of the premisses Alsoe
I give to my Executrix herein after named my Farme and Lease
hold estate called and known by the name of Comb Rarme in the said 
County of Wiltes To hold to my said Executrix during her naturall 
life she paying to my son James Lock Tenn pounds by the year out of the 
said farme to be and remain to my said son James Lock To hold to him
and his heirs during the remainder of the terme and estate heretofore 
granted to mee of the premisses alsoe I give to my son James Lock one
Feather bedd Bedsteed and all Bedding and other furniture which
Bedd and Bedsteed and all other furniture are now standing and 
being in my hither Chamber to be delivered to him by my said 
Executrix presently after my deceased and my Will further is that 
when my said Exeutrix when she is possesst of my said farme at Comb
shall not at any time during her naturall life sell alien or sett over 
the said Farme or any part or parcell thereof to any person or persons 
whatsoever without the good Will Lycence and consent of my said
son James Lock first had and obeined, alsoe I give to my Brother 
John Lock Fifty shillings by the yeare dureing his naturall life to
be paid to him quarterly by my Executrix hereinafter named if she
and the lives menconed in my two Chattle Leases in Landford shall
soe long live and noe longer and after his decease to my Kinsman
Mathew Lock the said sume and in manner as aforesaid alsoe I 
give to my said Brother John Lock my wearing apparrell of all sorts 
to be delivered to him by my Executrix and friends in Trust herein
after named presently after my decease Alsoe I give to my Kinsman
Richard Coward of Westbourne in the County of Somersett Five 
pounds, To my Brother Thomas Lock Twenty shillings To my


Sister Artillis wife of Abraham White of Marten Twenty shillings To
my Kinsman Robert Lock son of my Brother John Lock five pounds and
to his son John Lock of Poole Twenty shillings And to his two daughters 
TWenty shillings apeice the said legacies to be paid unto them by my said
Executrix within six months after my decease and as for all the rest residue 
and remainder of all my goods chattells debts Bonds & after my debts 
and legacies paid and funerall expences discharged I give and bequeath 
unto my dear and loving wife Elinor Lock whom I doe make my full whole
and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and Lastly I doe 
nominate and appoint my Brothers in Law John Light and William
Fisher both of Hamptworth and my loving friend Robert Rice the 
elder of the same my overseers and friends in Trust desireing them to 
be aiding and assisting to my said Executrix in the performance of 
this my Will and for their care and pains therein I give unto each of 
them Twenty shillings a peece and I utterly revoke and adnull all
and every other & former Will and Wills Testaments Legacies bequests 
Executors and overseers by me in any wise and manner before this time 
made Willed and bequeathed willing this to be my last Will and 
Testament In witness whereof I the said James Lock have hereunto
sett my hand and seale the day and year first above written Signed James
