In the Name of God Amen
I Richard Lee of the Parish of Portsea in the County of Southampton
Gentleman being of sound mind memory and understanding thanks to
Almighty God for the same do make publish and declare this to be
my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to
say First I give and devise unto my Sister Susanna Grist all that
my Messuage Tenement or Dwelling House with the Appurtenances
situate in Camden Alley on Portsmouth Common in the said Parish of
Portsea To hold the same unto my said Sister Susanna her Heirs and
Assigns for ever Also I give and devise unto my Niece Elizabeth Grist
all that Messuage Tenement or Dwelling House with the Appurts
being the Northmost of four Tenements situate at Mile End in the
Parish of Portsea To hold the same unto my said Niece Elizabeth
Grist her Heirs and Assigns for ever She paying forty Shillings per
Annum to Elizabeth Lee the Widow of my late Brother Joseph Lee
for and during the term of her life She being Tenant for life in the
same Premises Also I give and devise unto my Nephew Joseph
Bowyer all those four Messuages or Tenements with the Appurtenances
situate in Brunswick Row in the said Parish of Portsea To hold the
same unto my said Nephew Joseph Bowyer his Heirs and Assigns
for ever But I do hereby nevertheless charge and make chargeable
and subject the said four Messuages or Tenements with the payment
of the sum of fifty pounds within one Month next after my decease
  to my Executors hereinafter named which said Sum of fifty pounds
I hereby direct to be paid and laid out by my Executors for and
towards the support Maintenance and Education of John Bowyer
Son of my Nephew John Bowyer at their discretion Also I give
and devise unto my Nephew James Grist all those three Southmost
Messuages or Tenements with the Appurtenances situate at Mile
End aforesaid To hold the same unto my said Nephew James Grist
his Heirs and Assigns for ever Subject to the Estate for life of the
said Susanna Lee therein he paying to the said Susanna Lee
the sum of nine Guineas per Annum during the term of her life the
same being the Interest of the Money for which the Messuage or
Tenement adjoining to the last mentioned Messuages and late in
the possession of Mr Blanchard was lately sold for in which the said
Susanna Lee was also Tenant for life She having consented to
and joined with me in the sale thereof And I do hereby charge
and make chargeable and subject the said three Messuages or
Tenements to and with the payment of the sum of sixty pounds
to my Nephew Joseph Bowyer at the decease of the said Susanna
Lee the same being one third part of the purchase Money for the
Sale of the said Messuage or Tenement Also I give and bequeath 
unto my Sister Ann Collins the sum of three hundred and fifty
pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my Nephew Amos Bowyer
the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds which said Legacies I
hereby direct shall be paid to the respective legatees within six
Months next after my decease Also I give and bequeath unto
my Executors hereinafter named the sum of one hundred pounds
upon Trust to lay the same out at their discretion for and
towards the support Maintenance and Education of Elizabeth



Bowyer Daughter of my said Nephew John Bowyer Also I give and
bequeath unto my Executors hereinafter named the sum of fifty
pounds Upon Trust to lay the same out at their discretion for and
towards the support Maintenance and Education of the said John
Bowyer Son of my said Nephew John Bowyer Also I give and 
bequeath unto my late Apprentice Robert Weston the sum of five
Guineas to be paid him immediately after my decease Also I give
and bequeath my Seat in St Georges Chapel unto my late Servant
Maid Susanna Gifford for ever Also I give and bequeath unto the
Reverend Mr Tuppen and Deacons of the Meeting in Orange Street
on Portsmouth Common the sum of twelve pounds to be by them laid
out in the purchase of such Religious Books as shall be by them
thought proper for instructing youth in the ways of God or part
thereof for the use and benefit of the Congregation to be deposited
in the vestry belonging to the said Meeting Also I give and bequeath
unto Richard Bowyer Son of my said Nephew Joseph Bowyer
thirty pounds to be paid him within three Months next after my
decease Also I give and devise unto my Nephew James Grist all
my Presses Letters Cases with all other Implements and things
relating to the Printing Business Household Goods Plate Linen
and China and all Securities for Money and all the rest residue
and remainder of my real and personal Estate of what kind
nature or sort soever the same shall or may consist at the time
of my decease and not before particularly mentioned To hold
the same unto my said Nephew James Grist his Heirs Executors
Administrators and Assigns for ever But my will is and I do
hereby charge and make chargeable all the rest and residue of my
real and personal Estate with the payment of my just Debts and
Funeral Expences And Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and
appoint my said Sisters Susanna Grist and Ann Collins and my
said Nephew James Grist joint Executrixes and Executor of this my
last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all
former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made In
Testimony whereof I the said Richard Lee the Testator have to
this my last Will and Testament contained in two Sheets of paper
set my Hand to the bottom of the Sheet hereunto annexed and
my Hand and Seal to this Sheet the thirteenth day of March in
the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty
two Richd Lee  LS  Signed Sealed published and declared by
the said Richard Lee the Testator as and for his last Will and
Testament the day of the date in the presence of us Chas Seers
Richd Martin  Saml Darley

This Will was proved at London the second day of
October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and
eighty two before the Right Worshipful Peter Calvert Doctor of Laws
Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of 
Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of James Grist the
Nephew of the deceased and one of the Executors named in the
said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular 
the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased he having been



first sworn by Commission duly to Administer power reserved of
making the like grant to Susanna Grist and Ann Collins Widows
the Sisters of the said deceased and the other Executors named in the
said Will when they or either of them shall apply for the same
