15 February 1698 Will of George Guy of London, merchant (proved 29 November 1700)

In the name of God Amen
I George Guy of London Merchant at present bound on a Voyage to 
Bengall in the East Indies being in perfect health and sound of memory
doe by these presents constitute this my last Will and Testament in manner
and forme following (that is to say) Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my
loveing Cousins Thomas Pitt of Little Lincolns Inne Feilds Esqr one of the 
Masters in Chancery and unto Margaret his wife to Robert his eldest sonn
and Thomas his youngest sonn and to Mrs Priscilla Dennett his sister that
is to say unto each and every of them the sume of tenn pounds sterling for
a peice of Plate or mourning Item I give and bequeath to my honoured mother
Mabell Guy of Wimborne in the County of Dorset one eighth part of my whole
Estate Item I give and bequeath unto my loveing brothers John and Edmund
Guy and to their Heires And unto my loveing sisters Temperance and Phebe
Guy to each and every of them one sixth part of my whole Estate or four
sixths to be equally divided among them four aforesaid Item I give unto
my loveing Cousin Katherine daughter of the abovenamed Thomas and
Margaret Pitt one twelfth part or share of my Estate as aforesaid And 
in case of her death unto my loveing kinsman Thomas Pitt her younger
brother Item I give unto my loveing Nephew and Neeces the Children of my
loveing brother John Guy (that is to say) to John his sonn To Elizabeth
Temporance and Thomazin his daughters and unto his youngest Child
that was liveing in June Anno 1698 that is to say unto my aforesaid
brothers five Children one eighth part of my Estate to be divided 
among  them in equall proportions and shares Item it is my intention
and will that what part soever of my Estate shall be found in England
on the Confirmation of my death by Letters from India or elsewhere
unto the English Company trading to the East Indies that the same
be immediately divided in equall proportons among my mother Mabell
my brothers John and Edmund my sisters Temporance and Phebe
aforenamed which notwithstanding if my whole Estate appeares to be
one thousand pounds and upwards shall be reckoned and accounted 
part of the Estate devised as above is provided But if by losse or any
other accident the totall of my Estate does not exceed the thousand
pounds sterling aforesaid than noe one already menconed shall be 
interessed in my Will but my mother Mabell and brothers John and
Edmund and Sisters Temporance and Phebe Guy And whereas I have 
elsewhere impowered the aforesaid Thomas Pitt to advance a marriage 
Portion for either or both of my sisters Temperance and Phebe Guy
it is my will and intention that the sume or sumes soe advanced shall
be accounted some part of the parte  or share already bequeathed them
in any  the cases above Moreover it is my desire and request unto
the aforesaid Thomas Pitt and John Guy that they be Executors of this 
my Will and that they act herein as shall be most correspondent with 
my intentions in the Words above Dated in Plymouth the 15th of
February 1698/9  George Guy  Signed and sealed in the presence of
