Know all men by these presents That I William
Grist of Ratcliffe in the County of Middlx Marriner Have and by these presents doe
make ordaine and constitute my honoured Mother Amphillies Grist of the same
Widow my trewe and lawfull Attorney irrevocable for me and in my name and
for my use to aske demand and receive of and from the right honorable the Trear
or Paymaster of his Maties Navy and Commissionr for prize money and whom
else it may concerne As well all such wages and pay bounty money prize money
and all other sume and sumes of money whatsoever as now is and which hereafter
shall or may be due or payable unto me And also all such pencons sallaries surant
money and all other moneys and things whatsoever which now and at any time 
hereafter is and shall be due to me for my wages or service or otherwise in any of 
his Maties shpps Friggotts or Vessells or any Merchant shipp or shipps As alsoe to
demand recover and receive of all other person and persons whatsoever whom it
doth or my concerne all and singular such other sume and sumes of money goods
wares effects wages debts dues claimes and demands whatsoever which now and 
hereafter is or shall be due and payable unto me either by Bond Bill Booke accompt 
or otherwise howsoever And moreover in my name and for my proper use to
demise and let my Lease in writeing or otherwise all or any of my Messuages
Lands or Tenements to such person or persons and for such terme yeares condicons
and reservacons as my said Attorney or her Councell shall think fitt and convenient
Giveing and hereby granting unto my said Attornty my full and whole power



in the premisses and to recover and receive all and singular the sume and sumes
of money matters and things aforesaid and upon non payment thereof or any part 
thereof all such person and persons whom it may concerne and where need shall
require their Executors Administrators and goods to sue arrest attach seize Imprison
prosecute and condemne and to compound and agree and out of prison to release 
and discharge And upon receipt of the said premisses or any part thereof acquittances
released or any other discharges for me and in my name to make seale and deliver
and one Attorney or more to substitute and at pleasure to revoke And generally
to act and doe all other acts matters and things whatsoever needfull and necessary
to be done in and touching the premisses as fully   and effectually as I might
or could doe if I were personally present Ratifieing and allowing for firm valid and
irrevocable all and whatsoever my said Attornty shall lawfully doe or cause to be
done in and touching the premisses by virtue of these presents And I the said William
Grist considering the incertainty of this transitory life doe make and Declare these
presents to containe my last Will and Testament that is to say I give devise and 
bequeath unto my honoured Mother Amphillis Grist Widow for and dureing the terme
of her naturall life and after her decease to my loveing Nephew and Neece Elias
Grist and Katherine Grist their Heires and Assignes for ever all such wages sume
and sumes of money Lands Tenements goods chattells and Reall Estate whatsoever wherewith
at the time of my decease I shall be possessed or Invested or which shall then belong or
of right appertaine unto me I doe give devise and bequeath unto my Brother
Richard Carter and his Wife twenty shillings apeice to buy them Rings And doe
hereby nominate and appoint my said honoured Mother Amphillis Grist sole
Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and doe revoke all former Wills and
deeds of guift by me at any time herebefore made and doe ordaine these presents 
to stand and be for and as my only last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seale the seventh day of Aprill Anno Domini one
thousand six hundred Ninety seven And in the Ninth year of the raigne of our
Soveraigne Lord William the third by the grace of God King of England
Scotland France and Ireland Defender of the Faither &c William Grist signed sealed
published and declared in the presence of us the stamp being first affixed and
published and declared by the said William Grist to be his last Will and Testament
and Witnessed in his presence by us Rice Corke Elizabeth Griffin her marke
Tho Sclater
