In the name of God Amen I Israell Gleson of Brislington als Bussleton in the County of Somersett Gent being sick in Body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thankes and praise be given to Almighty God for the same Knowing the certainety of Death and the uncertainety of time thereof doe make and Ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following Imprimis I recomend my Soule into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I comitt to the Earth to be buried in Christian Buriall and as to my Estate both reall and personall I give and Devise the same and dispose thereof in manner and forme following (that is to say) Item I give and Devise unto my Brother John Gleson of Brislington als Bussleton afore- said in the County aforesaid gent and to the heires of his Body lawfully begotten and to be begotten (after the decease of Magdalen my wife) All that my Messuage or Tenement with all the Lands meadowes pastures and appurtenances thereunto belonging now in my owne possession and in the possession of my under Tennants scituate lyeing and being in Brislington als Bussleton aforesaid and all my Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments there and within the said parish of Brislington als Bussleton aforesaid And alsoe all those my Messuages and Tenements within the Citty of Bristoll in the Tenure or Possession of Giles Merick Merchant his under Tennants or Assignes Item I give and Devise unto my Sister Mary Hall now wife of John Hall of Brislington als Bussleton aforesaid in the the said County of Somerset yeoman the sume of One Hundred pounds good money to be paid by the said John Gleson my Brother or his heires Executors &c within halfe a yeare after the decease of my said wife Item I give and Devise unto my Brother Thomas Gleson an annuity or rent charge of Ten pounds pounds a yeare to be paid dureing his life (after my wife deceased) out of my Messuage Lands and Tenements in Brislington als Bussleton aforesaid by the owners and proprietors thereof Whereas there is resting and remaining in the hands of Thomas Day of the said Citty of Bristoll sopemaker and Nathaniell Friend or one of them belonging to me in right of my wife being part of her Portion or Legacie devised to her) amongst others in and by the last Will and Testament of Benjamin Tibbott gent her late Father deceased to whom the said Thomas Day and Nathaniell Friend were Executors in Trust) a very considerable summ of money which the said Thomas Day and Nathaniell Friend doe refuse to pay me or to account with me for and therefore I have comenced a suite in Chancery against them for recovery thereof which I am willing shall be prosecuted with effect till the money soe due be receaved if it may be and to that end and purpose I doe give and Devise unto my Brother John Gleson as also to my Brother in Law John Hall afore named and to my Kinsman Francis Hart of Felton als Whitchurch in the said County of Somersett Gent all such monies as are soe resting and remaining in the Hands and Custody of the said Thomas Day and Nathaniell Freind or either of them and all that and whatsoever is owing due belonging or appertayning to me or to me in right of my wife from the said Thomas Day and Nathaniell Freind or either of them They the said John Gleson John Hall and Francis Hart paying to my said Wife Nineteene parts in Twenty parts of all and whatsoever shall be recovered of the said Thomas Day and Nathaniell Freind as aforesaid and for the carrying on and prosecution of a suite or suites for the Recovery of all such monies matters or things as are due oweing belonging or apperteining to me from the said Thomas Day and Nathaniell Freind either of them as aforesaid I do give and bequeath unto the said John Gleson John Hall and Francis Hart the sum of One Hundred and Fifty pounds to be by them layd out and Disbursed for that use and purpose (if a lesser sum will not doe the same Item I give and bequeat unto my Two Brothers John Gleson and Thomas Gleson and to my sister Mary Hall One shilling a peece Item I give to the Poore of the Parish Beslington als Bussleton aforesaid Twenty shillings a yeare for Five yeares next after my decease to be distributed eery St Thomas Day yearely by my Executrix herein after named at her discretion to such Poore people as receive noe almes of the said parish Item all the rest of my Goods Chattells and personall Estate (Except Two Chests one Presse and a Table board and Three Pictures in the Hall Chamber which was my Grandfathers which my Will is shall remaine to the owners of my dwelling house to whom I have given and devised the same after my wifes decease) I give and Bequeath to Magdaline my Wife whom I make sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and I doe nominate and appoynt the said John Gleson my Brother and the said John Hall and Francis Hart to be my Trustees and Overseers of this my last Will and Testament to see the same duly performed and for their care and paines therein I give to them Five pounds a peece and doe hereby revoke and make voyd all former Wills by me at any time made and doe declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witnesse whereof I the said Israell Gleson have to this my last Will written in sheets to each each of them putt my hand and Sealte this Eleaventh day of June in the First yeare of the Raigne of
