This is the last Will and 
Testament of me George Gigger of Wareham in the County
of Dorset Grocer made and Published the Twentieth day of 
May in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred
and Thirteen as followeth Imprimis I do first of all hereby
revoke annull and make void all Wills by me at any time or
times heretofore made and do declare this to be my Last
Will and Testament Item I give and devise all that my
Messuage or FarmHouse outHouses Lands Tenements 
and Hereditaments whatsoever with their and every of 
their appurtenances called by the name of lower Bestall
Scituate lying and being within the parish of East Scoake in
the said County of Dorsett now in my possession unto my two
Nephews Joseph Gigger and John Gigger for and during 
the Term of their natural Lives joyntly and equally between
them and after the deaths of them or either of them Then I 
give and devise the same Lands and Hereditaments with
their appurtenances to the Heirs Males of the Bodies of them
the said Joseph Gigger and John Gigger lawfully begotten
and to be begotten and for want of such Issue Males of them
the said Joseph Gigger and John Gigger as aforesaid Then
to the Heirs Female of them the said Joseph Gigger and 
John Gigger lawfully begotten and to be begotten and for
want of such Issue Female in them the said Joseph Gigger 
and John Gigger Then I give and devise the before
mentioned Lands Tenements and Hereditaments with their
appurtenances unto John Chapman the eldest son of my
Kinsman Mr Walter Chapman and to his heirs for ever
Item I give to the said Mr Walter Chapman my Garden 
in Mill Lane in Wareham aforesaid containing about
half an acre for and during the Term of his natural Life
and after his Decease to his son John Chapman during his
natural Life and after the death of the said John Chapman
to Walter Chapman second son of the said Mr Walter 
Chapman and his Heirs for ever Item I give my now dwelling 
House wherein I live with its appurtenances unto my now
lowing Wife Margaret Gigger during the Term of her 
natural Life and after her Decease I give and devise the same
to my two Kinsmen Joseph Gigger and John Gigger and


the Heirs of their Bodies lawfully begotten and to be begotten and for want
of such Issue to their right Heirs for ever Item all the rest and 
residue of my Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditamts
whatsoever with their and every of their appurtenances scituate
lying and being in Wareham and Stoborrow or in the parishes
of Wareham aforesaid I give unto my aforesaid two Kinsmen
Joseph Gigger and John Gigger equally between them during
their natural lives and after their deaths Then I give the said
last mentioned Lands Tenements and Hereditaments to the
Heirs Males of the Bodies of them the said Joseph Gigger and
John Gigger lawfully begotten and to be begotten and for
want of such Issue males as aforesaid then to the Heirs Female
of the Bodies of them the said Joseph Gigger and John Gigger
lawfully begotten and to be begotten and for want of such Issue
Females of them the said Joseph Gigger and John Gigger as
aforesaid then I give and devise the said last mentioned Lands
Tenements and Hereditaments to my Kinsman George
Chaldecoff Tanner and his Heirs for ever Item I give unto my
Kinsman George Gigger the eldest brother of them the 
said Joseph Gigger and John Gigger my antient Lands 
which descended to me from my Mother called by the name
of Grange lying in the parish of Wimborne Minster in the said 
County of dorsett for during the Term of his natural Life and
my Lands at Poole likewise with the yearly Rents and Profits 
thereof and after his decease then I give the said Lands at Grange
and Poole aforesaid to my aforesaid Two Kinsmen Joseph and
John Gigger and their Heirs for ever Item I further give 
and grant to my said Kinsman George Gigger an Annuity or 
Rent charge of Thirteen Pounds yearly during the Term of 
his natural Life to be paid weekly and every Week to him out
of all my Lands Tenements and Hereditaments at Bestall and
Wareham aforesaid and I hereby charge all my said Lands 
Tenements and Hereditaments at bestall and Wareham
aforesaid with the true payment thereof Item I give unto
my Kinsman Mr Walter Chapman as a token of my
Kindness to him Twenty Pounds and to my Neice his Wife 
Margaret Chapman Twenty Pounds more to be paid them
within a year after my Death and I further give to their 
Children John Walter Thomas and Mary Chapman Twenty
Pounds a peice to be paid them severally at their ages of one
and Twenty years and in the mean time it is my Will and 
meaning and I do hereby direct that my Executors herein after 
named shall yearly after my Decease pay them Interest for
their respective sum and sums of money herein before 
mentioned till they respectively attain their ages of one and 
Twenty years Item I further give unto my said Kinsman
Walter Chapman and Margarett his Wife to and for the 
use and benefitt of their Children Two Hundred Pounds 
due to me from and lent by me some time since to Mary Pittman Widdow
and her son Joseph Pittman on a Mortgage of their Lands 
att Chaldon in the said County of Dorsett and the
growing Interest thereof from my Death and I do


hereby direct that my Executors hereinafter named do
Transfer the said Mortgage to the said Walter Chapman
by Deed in three Months time after my Death to the use
abovementioned Item whereas I did some years since lend unto
my brother Mr John Gigger of the town and County of Poole
(who is since dead) One Hundred Pounds on a Mortgage of
his House he lived in in Poole aforesaid I do hereby give the
said Hundred Pounds so lent as aforesaid and what Interest
shall happen to be for the same at my death to my said to
Kinsmen Joseph and John Gigger equally betwixt them
Item I give to my said Two Kinsmen Joseph and John Gigger 
my Leasehold Estate called Haymoore in the parish of
Corsfe Castle in the said County during the remainder of 
the Term of years therein to come at the time of my death
equally between them Item I give to my two Kinsmen
George Chaldecott and Joseph Chaldecott Forty Pounds
apeice to be paid them within a year after my Decease Item
I give unto my dear and loving Wife Mrs Margaret Gigger 
one Hundred Pounds to be paid her within  Twelve months
time after my Decease by my Executors herein after named
out of my personal Estate And I give her likewise all the
Silver Plate that was her own before I married her and to
dispose of as she pleases and I likewise give her the use of 
all my Household goods which I shall leave behind me at 
my Death in the House I now live in (except what was my
Fathers goods) and after her Decease all the said Household 
Goods to be equally divided amongst my Executors herein
after named Item I give to each of my late Sister Alfords
Daughters Five Pounds apeice as a token of my Kindness to
them that they may remember me to be paid them in a Twelve
month after my Decease likewise Item I give to my Kinswoman
Ann Rogers the Wife of John Rogers of Poole Five Pounds to be 
paid her in a year after my Death Item I give towards the
repairing of the Chancell of the Lady Church in Wareham
aforesaid Five Pounds and I charge my Executors herein after 
named to see the same well done in Six months time after my
Death Item I give to the poor of the Town of Wareham
aforesaid Five Pounds to be distributed amongst the most
necessitous of them within a month after my Decease Item
I give all my God Children Twenty Shillings apeice to buy
them Rings to wear in remembrance of me Item I give unto my
Kinsman Mr William Cock and his Wife each of them a Ring 
of Twenty Shillings value and to my Brother in Law Mr
Robert Coombes a Ring of Twenty Shillings value and to 
Mr Richard Kaines a Ring of Twenty shillings value and two
Guineas for his pains for making my Will and to Mr Pullen
a Ring of Twenty Shillings value and a broad peice of Gold 
called a Jacobus to preach a Funerall Sermon for me and I
give to my two Brother in Lawes Mr John Jones and Thomas
Chaldecott a Ring each of Twenty Shillings value Item I give
a Cloth Coat that is to say a great coat next to my new
Cloth great Coat to old Robt Delacourt to wear to keep


him warm Item I charge all my Lands Tenements and Here-
ditament and all my Estate both real and personal with the
true payment of all the Legacies herein before given And 
Lastly all the rest residue and remainder of all my Goods 
Chattles Mortgages Bonds Debts ready monies Stock on my
Estate and all my personal Estate whatsoever wheresoever
or of what nature or kind soever and not herein before
disposed of I hereby give and bequeath unto my said two
Kinsmen Joseph Gigger and John Gigger whom I make
joynt Executors of this my Last Will and Testament In Witness
whereof I the said George Gigger to this my last will and
Testament contained in two Sheets of Paper have sett my hand
and seal the Twentieth day of May Anno Domini 1713 First
above written  Geo Gigger  Signed sealed Published and 
Declared to be the last Will and Testament of me the said
George Gigger  I signing the same with my own Hand in the
