4 October 1716 Will of Richard Fowler of St Margarets Westminster (proved 13 August 1717)

I Richard Fowler do make
this my last Will and Testament as followeth Imprimis I give and
bequeath to my brother Edward Fowler the sum of one Thousand
pounds and what horses I shall be possessed of at the time of my
decease and as he will have my Moiety of Newport and Bettus
Tythes at my Death so I give him my Tythes of Hinton Item I 
give to my Sister Mary Fowler Wife of my said Brother the sum
of Two hundred pounds Item I give to my said Brother Edward
Fowler in Trust only for the use of my Sister Mary Fowler of Hampsted
my Class Orders amounting to the yearly value of Fifty two
pounds for shillings as also my Five hundred pounds Stock or 
Interest in the East India Company The whole Interest of both
which I give and bequeath to my said Sister Mary Fowler of
Hampsted to be paid to her as it becomes due during her life together


with all the interest that shall be due thereon at the time of my
decease And if my said Sister Mary Fowler marrys with the 
good likeing and consent of my Mother and my Sister Susanna
Fowler or the Survivor of them then my Intention is that the 
said Classes and India Stock should be transferr'd to her for her
sole use and benefit at the time of her marriage Otherwise
that the Interest thereof only should be paid to her during her 
life and that the said Classes and India Stocks shou'd after her
decease be given to my brother Edward Fowler Item I give to
my Mother Elizabeth Fowler the sum of Twenty pounds per Annm
during her life or Widowhood Item I give to my Nurse Elizabeth
Peacock the sum of Twelve pounds per Annm during her life
Item I give to my Cozn John Worthington the sum of Twenty 
pounds and to my Coz Ann Whichcoke the sum of Tenn
pounds and to my Coz Mary Jefferies the sum of Five pounds 
and to my Mother my Sister Perkins my Sisters Elizabeth and
Ann Burton and my Niece Elizabeth Perkins the sum of Ten
pounds each for Mourning Item to my Nephew Christopher
Gosse ten pounds to my Niece Selenah Gosse ten pounds to my
Bror John Rawlinson ten pounds Item to Mr Eliezer Lockton
Twenty pounds and to Mr Thomas White Twenty pounds To
Joan Baker in the Isle of Purbeck if living Five pounds To Mr
George Wakeman Ten pounds To Mr Robert Dod Five pounds
to Mr Samuel Ring Five pounds Item I bequeath one hundred 
and twenty pounds for the Apprenticeing of six poor Children
which I desire may be all put out in two years at farthest
after my death Item I give one hundred pounds for the 
Cloathing of teh said poor Children to whom I desire my
Executor and Executrix to give Twenty pounds apiece at the
expiration of their Apprenticeships to set them up with 
Provided their or any of their Behaviour has been such as 
my Executors thinks deserving and not else Lastly I give all
the rest and residue to my Sister Susanna Fowler whether it
be real or personal Estate hereby declaring my Will and 
Intention is that Two Thousand pounds of what I have now
bequeathed her should at the decease of my said Sister
Susanna Fowler be given to my Nieces Ana Maria Fowler and
Elizabeth Fowler daughters of my Bror Edward Fowler to be
equally divided between them and I desire to be buried with
my Wife and Child in Hendon Church where I desire a 
Monument may be erected to the Memory of my Father 
and Mother of the value of One hundred and Fifty pounds
within twelve Months after my decease And I do appoint my
Bror Edward Fowler and my Sister Susanna Fowler Executor 
and Executrix of this my last Will and Testament Witness my
hand and seal this 4 of October Ano Dni 1716  Rd Fowler

		13 Augt 1717
Which Day appeared personally John Marsh
of Haberdashers Hall in the Parish of St Mary Staineing 
London Gent and Benjamin Cater of the Parish of Alhallows on


the Wall London Merchant who being severally sworn upon the
Holy Evangelists to depose the truth did severally depose as followeth
that they these deponents were severally acquainted with Richard
Fowler late of the Parish of St Margarets Westminster in the
County of Middx but dying at Chelsea in the same County Esquire
deceased for ten years before and to the time of his death which
happened in or about the month of November last past and 
that they these deponents have often times seen him write and 
subscribe his name and also received Letters from him by which
they became well acquainted with his manner and character of 
handwriting and they having now severally seen and perused 
the Will of the said deceased dated the 4th of October 1716 doe
verily believe the same to be totally wrote and subscribed by and
with the proper handwriting of the said Richard Fowler deceased
