In the name of God Amen
I Robert Culliford of Encombe in the County of Dorsett
Esqr being aged but of perfect health and sound memory 
praised be God therefore revokeing and by these presents makeing
void and null all former Wills whatsoever by me made doe ordaine 
make constitute and appoint this to be my last Will and 
Testament writen in my presence by my perticuler order this
ninetheenth day of August one thousand six hundred ninety and 
seaven Imprimis I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of 
God that gave it trusting through the sufferings of Jesus Christ 
the Saviour of the World to attaine everlasting salvation and 
inherite the kingdome of heaven and everlasting life And my body 
to be decently buryed in the Parish Church of Corfe Castle next to my
Wife without any pomp or ceremony or vaine expences Item I 
give to the poor of the parish of Corfe Castle the sume of forty shillings to be 
distributed at my funerall Item my will is and I doe hereby charge 
my Farme of Encombe with the sume of Two Thousand pounds 
to be paid as followeth that is to say one thousand pounds of the said two
thousand pounds to be paid to my son William Culliford who has 
a mortgage upon the said Farme of one thousand pounds and Five 
hundred pounds secured by a late Deed of Settlement by me made 
unto my son in law Nathaniel Naper Clerke in liew of a marryage 
porcon with my Daughter Grace And the other Five Hundred 
pounds to my Daughter Mary for her porcon Alsoe my will is that 
my Daughter Mary shall have an allowance of Five and twenty
pounds a yeare for her maintenance till the said sume of Five

hundred pounds for her porcon shall be raised and paid her accordingly
Item my will is and I doe hereby give to my Daughter Elizabeth Culliford 
the sume of one thousand pounds for her porcon includeing fifty pounds 
given her by her Grandmother Dame Grace Lawrence and five pounds
given her by Dr Richard Hyde to be raised and paid out of the Farmes of 
Knaveswell and Fox ground and the Stock upon the Farme of Encomb
within the space of one yeare after my decease with interest of Five per 
Cent Item I give and bequeath to my son William Culliford the sume 
of Ten pounds as a legacie to be paid by my Executor within six moneths 
after my decease Item I give and bequeath to my son Nicholas Culliford 
the sume of Ten pounds as a legacie to be paid within six moneths 
after my decease And alsoe I give my son Nicholas my Tenement
at Chilcomb near Winchester which I purchased of the Deane and 
Chapter of Winton Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter 
Margarett Scardevill the sume of Ten pounds as a legacie to be paid 
in six moneths after my decease she having had her porcon already
Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Hobbs the sume of Ten
pounds as a legacie to be paid in six moneths after my decease she 
haveing had her porcon already Item I give to my Daughter Grace 
Naper the sume of Fifty pounds which is in full of a legacie left her 
by her Grandmother Dame Grace Lawrence And also I give her 
Ten pounds as a legacie all which to be paid her within six moneths 
after my decease she haveing her porcon secured upon the Farme of 
Encomb by Deed Item I give and bequeath unto my son Robert 
Culliford the sume of Fifty pounds as a rent charge yearly and every 
yeare to be paid him quarterly out of the Farme of Encombe (with 
power to distraine within twenty dayes after quarter day for non-
payment) for the space of ten yeares And after the expiracon of the 
said ten years in case my son Lawrence shall happen soe long to live 
Then the said Lawrence Culliford is hereby required to pay or secure 
unto his said brother Robert Culliford the sume of one thousand 
pounds And in case my eldest son Lawrence Culliford happen to dye 
without Heires Male of his body begotten or to be begotten and the
estate descend to the said Robert Culliford according as it shall be 
setled by me by Will or Deed Then it is my will and true meaning 
That the said Robert Culliford have not nor shall not have any
power or authority by and deed or settlement to make or settle a joynture 
on Margarett his now wife or that she shall have any power to demand 
or claime by and title whatsoever any joynture or thirds out of the said 
estate after his decease in case she survive or outlive him she having 
behaved herselfe during her aboad with him soe perverse unnaturall
disobedient and implacable a wife to the disgrace not only of him her
said Husband but as far as her lyes to the infamy and discreditt 
of me and my whole family and all that beareth the name of Culliford 
therefore it is my further will and intent that after the decease of 
the said Robert Culliford That my estate and Mannor of Encombe 
descend to my third son William Culliford as I shall settle it by Deed 
or Will unless the said Robert Culliford happen to have some other 
lawfull issue by some other wife after the decease of the said Margaret
Item I give to my son Lawrence Culliford my Farmes of Knaveswell
and Fox ground with the stock thereon And alsoe all the stock of Cattle
of what nature or kind soever upon the Farme of Encomb I also 


farther give him all the furniture and bedding tables cupboard chests and 
all the lynnen with all other the lumber in the said House of Encombe
except my Plate) to be inventaryed and appraised after my decease 
he only to make use of it during his life and att  his decease to remaine 
and abide in the said House and for the use of my next Heire and soe
successively one after the other as they shall come to enjoy the estate
My further will and pleasure is and I doe hereby contitute and appoint
my son Lawrence Culliford to be my whole and sole Executor to this 
my last Will and Testament injoyning and requiring him to pay all
debts legacies mortgages bills bonds and all other obligacons whatsoever 
that either are or shall be oweing by me to any person whatsoever at
the time of my decease Lastly I doe make it my earnest request and
desire That my neare Kinsman Anthony Floyer Esqr Roger
Mompesson Esqr John Pike of Dunshay gentleman and John Collier 
of Quorr gentleman would see this my last Will and Settlement of my
Estate to be truely and justly performed To whom I give and 
bequeath to each and every of them the sume of Five pounds And doe
nominate them and noe others to be wholly and solely and my only
Trustees in this my last Will and Testament  Robert Culliford 
This is the last Will and Testament of Robert Culliford Esqr 
published and declared by him in the presence of William Casnes
