In the Name of God Amen
		     The


The eight and Twentieth day of January in the Two and Twentieth
yeare of the raigne of our soveraigne Lord King Charles the second of 
England &c Annoq Domini 1670 I Thomas Cornell of the Towne &
County of Poole merchant being sicke and weake but of a sound &
perfect remembrance Thanks be to Almighty God Knowing the un-
certainty of this life and being desirous to settle things in order that 
my wife and children may the better live in love and peace one wth
another after my decease Doe make this my last will and Testement 
in manner and forme following (That is to say) First and principally I
committ my soule to Almighty God my creator assuredly beleeving That I
shall receave full pardon and free remission of my sinnes and be saved 
by the precious death and merritts of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer 
Christ Jesus and be made pertaker of eternall Blisse And as for my 
worldly estate which the Lord in mercy hath lent me my will is that 
the same may bee disposed of as hereafter in these presents is expressed 
Item I give unto William Cornell my sonne all that my new built house 
in west street in Poole aforesaid and the ground thereunto belonging that 
I purchased of Robert Cleeves To hold and enioy the same to him and
his heires and assignes forever presently after my decease Item I give
my said sonne William Cornell and his heires and assignes all my land 
att Wareham That I purchased of John Gerrad And the remaynder of the
Lease of the house I live in And my right and terme in my Leasehold
Tenement lying nere the pound in Poole aforesaid To hold to him 
his heires executors and assignes forever Provided Mary my wife shall
receave and enioy the Rents issues and proffitts of the said three last bequeathed
Tenements during her life tyme Item I give to John Grist my sonne in 
law one sixteenth part of all that  good ship or vessell called the Thomas &
Richard of Poole where Thomas Hide is master To bee enioyed by him
as his    propper goods presently after my decease Item I give un-
to my sonne in law Thomas Hide one sixteenth part more of the said 
ship or vessell called the Thomas and Richard To be enioyed by him 
the said Thomas Hide as his owne propper goods presently after my de-
cease Item I give unto my daughter Mary Grist my silver Bowle to be 
delivered her at the death of Mary my wife Item I give unto my daugh-
ter Mary Webber of London Twenty pounds sterling to be paid her within
Three monethes next after my decease And my will is that if my daugh-
ter Webber survive or outlive Abraham Webber her husband That
Then I doe also acquitt and forgive her all such debts bills bonds or
moneyes whatsoever which either shee or her said husband doe owe
mee But if shee happen to dye before him Then my will is that he
shall have only the Twenty pounds aforesaid to himselfe And shalbe
lyable and compellable at her decease to pay my  executor all such
other principall sommes of moneyes as either hee or shee doe owe mee by
Bill bond or otherwise howsoever Item I give unto Mary my wife the 
other one eighth part of the said Ship Thomas and Richard dureing 
her life tyme ??? she remayne soe long And at her decease I give the same 
unto my Grandchild Anne Hide forever Item for the forty pounds 
That my sonne Thomas Hide doe owe me upon bond I give as follow-
eth First I give Tenne pounds thereof to Thomas Cornell sonne of 
William Cornell Tenne pounds thereof To William Cornell sonne of 
William Cornell Tenne pounds thereof To Mary Cornell the daughter of William 
Cornell And the other Tenne pounds to my grandchild Anne Hyde the
							  daughter


Daughter of the said Thomas Hide to be respectively paid them with-
in a yeare next after my decease without interest Provided if the sd
Thoams Hide should be lost in the present voyage hees now upon (wch
God forbid and should never returne home to Poole Then I doe wholly
forgive his wife the said debt Item my will is That Mary my wife
shall have the free and ordinary use of all my houshold goods dure-
ing her life tyme and att her decease my will is that the same may
be ijustly and equally divided betwixt my three children (vizt) William Cornell
Mary Grist and Elizabeth Hide (excepting my wareing apparrell) which
I give unto William sonne at my decease Item my will ???
that all the rest of my estate and debts abroad that can be recovered 
shalbe kept in an equall stocke betwixt Mary my wife and William
Cornell my sonne to drive the Clay trade together during the wid-
dowhood of Mary my wife And either at her marriage or death then
the same Stocke alsoe to be presently and equally devided betwixt my
said Three children William Cornell Mary Grist and Elizabeth Hide
Item I make Thomas Cornell my grandchild sole executor of this my last 
will and Testament And I appoint Mary my wife and William
Cornell my sonne to be Guardians and overseers in trust to see all my
iust debts satisfied and paid and this my will truly performed according to
my honest true intent and meaning In witnes whereof I sett my
hand and seale the day and yeare first above written Thomas Cornell
Signed Sealed and declared to be the last will and Testament of the said 
Thomas Cornell in presence of Peter Sealy his marke James Standard
