In the Name of God Amen
I James Collins of Bonavista being in good Health of Body and
of a sound and perfect Understanding mind and memory praised be to
the Almighty God therefore do make and ordain this my present last
Will and Testament in form and manner following (that is to say)
first of all and principally I commend my Soul into the Hands
of Almighty God who gave it and my Body I commit to
the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Friends
or Executor and as touching all such temporal Estate as it hath
pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof
as followeth First I will that my Debts and Funeral Charges shall
be paid Item I give unto my Brother Edward Collins of Bonavista
the sum of twenty pound likewise I give unto my Sister Catreine
Hayward five and twenty pound likewise I give to my Sister Mary
Stuckels twenty pounds likewise I give to my God Son John Sims
junior Son of John Sims (or or now) belonging to Christ Church
Twenty pound likewise I give to my Sister Rose Tizard twenty pound
likewise I give to my Sister Tabitha Ames ten pound likewise I
give to my Kinswoman Elizabeth Sims Wife of the above named
John Sims of Christ Church one shilling And I give to my Cousin
Katherine Balsum Wife of John Balsum Cooper one shilling all the
above Legacys are to be paid by my Executor Item I give and
demise to my Brother John Gooby of Christ Church whom I make
my whole and sole Executor twenty pounds and for what ever
may be found more belonging to me afterwards to be parted between my
Brothers and Sisters except my Apparel Cloathing or such like to be
parted only between my Brother Edward Collins above said John Gooby above
said my sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament in
Witness whereof I the said James Collins has hereunto set my Hand



and Seal this seventh Day of February in the Year of our
Lord God one Thousand seven Hundred and forty nine the Mark of
James Collins Witness John Ames the Mark of James Kitch  dated in
Bonavista in the Year one Thousand seven Hundred and forty nine

This Will was proved at London before the Right
Worshipful John Bettesworth Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or
Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully
constituted on the thirteenth Day of December in the Year of
our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and fifty by the Oath
of John Gooby the sole Executor named in the said Will to
whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods
Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased being first sworn by
Commission duly to administer
