This is the last Will and 
Testament of me Mary Cockram of Whitecliffe in the parish of 
Sandwich in the Isle of Purbeck and County of Dorset Widow made
the Tenth Day of January in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand 
Seven hundred Twenty One hereby revoking all former Wills and 
Testaments by me heretofore made First of all I do commit my 
Soul into the hands of Almighty God that Gave it and my Body 
to the Earth to be Decently buried by my Executor herein after 
named and as touching the disposition of all my Goods Chattells
and Temporall estate which God Almighty hath been pleased 
to bestow upon me I Will give and Devise thereof in manner
and form following Imprimis my Will and Desire is That all
my Debts and Funerall Charges and Expences be First paid
and Satisfied then I give and Bequeath unto my loving Son in Law
John Vincent the Sume of Twenty pounds of Lawfull money of 
great Britain to buy him a peece of plate and a suit of 
mourning Clothes which said Sume of Twenty pounds is to be
paid him by my Executor in Twelve months after my decease 


Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Priscilla Vincent my Mothers 
Wedding Ring amy Silver Tobacco Box my Silver Groaning Bowle and Brass 
Pann my Pin Cushion wrought with Gold my Silk Christning Mantle One
Silver Sppon haveing the head of one of the Twelve Apostles ??t thereon 
two wrought Stools one wrought Chair two wrought Cushions Two great 
Pewter Dishes my large looking Glass in the Parlour ??? and the Pictures 
of the Caesars in the parlour my Book of the Saints Everlasting Rest and 
also the use of my Book of Martyres for and dureing the Term of her
Naturall Life and from and after her decease I give and bequeath the
Said Book of Martyres unto my Executor herein after named and I do 
further Give and Bequeath unto my Said DAughter Priscilla Vincent the
Sume of Ten pounds of Lawfull mony of Great Britain to buy her a suit
of Mourning Cloaths Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary
Serrell my Silver Cupp marked with the Letters of M Mand C C The Bed 
I usually Lodged on with the Bed stead and all other things thereunto
belonging and my Sett of Striped Camblett Curtains and my Sett of Red
and white Curtains in the Hall Chamber my Shell work looking Glass
and two Wrought Pictures in the Parlour Chamber One Guiltlined with
white my Silver Papdish One of my best Holland Sheets Two of my best 
Pillowbers my green silk Mantle lined with White One little Silver
Salt Seller One Great Bell mettall Skillett Two Silver Spoons my Mothers 
Belmetall pott Three pewter Dishes that were my Mothers an halfe dozen
of Small new pewter plates One Red and White Bason Two China Dishes 
and also the Sume of Ten pounds of Lawfull Money of Great Britain to
buy her a Suit of Mourning Cloathes Item I give and bequeath unto my
son Brune Cockram my Silver Tankard marked with a Coat of Armes five 
Cane Chairs one great arme Caine Chair my black flowered Champaine 
Looking Glass my Punch Bowle and Silver Punch Spoone my best bed 
in the parlour Chamber with the bedstead and all other things thereunto
belonging One Great Belmetall pott Two pewter dishes Six pewter plates 
my Second great Skillet my little Iron pott the Andirons in the Hall
And also the sume of Ten pounds of Lawfull money of Great Britaine to
buy him a Suit of Mourning Cloaths Item I give and Bequeath unto my
son John Cockram my Great Silver Salt Seller Six Cane Chairs in the 
Parlour four Andirons with the Fender and Tongs thereunto belonging
being in the parlour Chamber and also the Sume of Fifty pounds of 
lawfull Money of great Britain and also the further Sume of Ten pounds 
of like lawfull money of great Britain to buy him a Suit of Mourning 
Clothes Item I give and bequeath unto my Son Thomas Cockram the
use of my Great Double Table board my Furnace great Chest and my
Cubboard for and during the Terme of his Naturall Life and from and after 
his Decease I give and bequeath the aforesaid last Mentioned Goods
unto the Next Lawfull owner and Possessor of Whitecliff Farme And
I also further Give and bequeath unto my Said Son Thomas Cockram
my Clock in the Hall my Silver Cup with a Coat of Armes Cut thereon
Six Silver Sppons my Silver Dram Dish my Malt Mill Two Table boards 
in the parlour One half Dozen of Leather Chairs in the Hall One paire 
of Andirons in the parlour One great Iron Pott One Bed in the Garret 
to be made Sufficiently full of Feathers by my Executor herein after 
mentioned with all things thereunto belonging One Bedstead in the 
Kichin Chamber Two pewter Dishes an half Dozen of pewter plates 
and also the Sume of Ten pounds of Lawfull money of great Britain


to buy him a Suit of Mourning Cloaths Item I give and bequeath unto
my Son in Law Anthony Wareham the Sume of Ten pounds of Lawfull
money of Great Britain to buy him a Suit of Mourning Clothes Item I give
and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Warham my Silver two handle
Cupp my Glass sweet Water Bottle my Wrought Box and further my
Will and Desire is that the Two Silver handled Cup herein before given to
my Daughter Anna Warham shall be and remain after her decease To
and for the only use and benefitt and behoofe of my Grandaughter Elizabeth
Warham I also further Give and Bequeath unto my said Daughter 
Anna Warham the Sume of Ten pounds of Lawfull money of Great
Britain to buy her a Suit of Mourning Cloaths Item I give and bequeath
unto my Grandaughter Elizabeth Warham the Sume of One hundred
pounds of Lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid her with the
Lawfull Interest thereof from my Decease by my Executor herein after 
named when she shall come to the age of One and Twenty Years or be
Married which shall first happen And my further Will and Desire is 
That in Case my Said Grandaughter Elizabeth Warham shall happen
to Dye before she shall attaine to the age of Twenty One Years or 
marriage as herein before mentioned That then and in such case the 
said sume of One hundred pounds shall be paid by my Executor herein
after named unto my said son Brune Cockram in trust To and for the only
use benefitt and behoofe of my said Daughter Anna Warham for and
Dureing her Naturall Life And in Case my said Daughter Anna
Warham shall happen to be a Widdow Then my Will and Desire is
That my said Son Brune Cockram shall stand and be possessed of the
said sume of One hundred pounds to and for the only use benefitt and
behoof of my said Daughter Anna Warham and at her owne disposall
And my further Will and Desire is That my said Grandaughter 
Elizabeth Warham shall have no advantage or benefit of the said
Legacie of One hundred pounds herein before given  to her unless she
be brought up and Educated in the Protestant Religion I further give 
and bequeath unto my said Grandaughter Elizabeth Warham One 
Feather Bed with the Green Curtains and all other things thereunto 
belonging my Silver Watch Two Gold Rings my Dressing Box and 
powder Box And also the Sume of Two pounds and Ten shillings of Lawfull
money of Great Britain to buy her a Suit of Mourning Clothes Item my
Will and Desire is That all my wearing Apparrell And Gold Rings 
not herein before given and bequeathed be equally divided betweene
my said Three Daughters Priscilla Vincent Anna Warham and 
Mary Serrell And my Further Will and Desire is that all the Rest 
Residue and Remainder of my Goods Chattells Rights and Credits 
not herein before Given and Bequeathed be equally divided to and 
between my said Six Sons and Daughters herein before mentioned (viz)
Brune Cockram John Cockram Thomas Cockram Priscilla Vincent 
Anna Warham and Mary Serrell Item I give and bequeath unto
the poor of the parish of Sandwich the Sume of Two pounds and 
Tenn shillings of Lawfull money of Great Britaine to be distributed 
to and amongst them by my Executor herein after named and the
Church Wardens and Overseers of the same Parish for the time being and I 
doe alsoe give and Bequeath unto the poor of the Parish of Corfe Castle the like
sum of two pounds and tenn shillings of like lawful money of great 
Brittaine to be distributed unto and amongst them by my Exeucutor herein


after named and the Church wardens and overseers of the same parish for 
the time being both which said sumes of Two pounds and Ten shillings are
to be paid by my Executor herein after named in six months after my
Decease Item I give and bequeath unto Such Servant maid as shall
happen to be liveing with me in the Family whereunto I shall belong or
Reside with at the time of my Decease the Sume of Ten shillings of 
Lawfull money of Great Britain Item I do allow order and appoint the 
Sume of Thirty pounds of Lawfull money of Great Britain to be laid out
and Expended by my Executor herein after named in my Funerall
Expences And also my Further Will and Desire is That Mr Cooke
Minister of Sandwich aforesaid my Preach my Funerall Sermon and 
That I may be interred by my late Husband deceased in the parish
Church of Sandwich aforesaid and that my Executor herein after named
Do Cause a Tombstone to be laid on my Grave and also do cause a 
Tombstone to be laid on my late Father Mr John Hayward Item I do
hereby order appoint and Constitute my said Son John Cockram full
and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof
I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the Day and Yeare first above 
Written Mary Cockram  Signed Sealed published and Declared to be 
the Last Will and Testament of the said Mary Cockram In the
presence of us who saw he signe seal and deliver the same John
