In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Baker sometimes of Arne in the Isle of Purbecke in the County of Dorst and now of the towne and Church of Poole Marriner being in health and perfect memory God be espreased therefore doe make this my last will and testament in maner and forme following first I bequeath my soule into the hands of Allmighty God my Creator hopeing for everlasting life in the Kingdome of Heaven through his grate mercy in Jesus Christ my Lord and only Saviour and redeemer and my body to Christian buriall to bee buried at Arne aforesaid in my wifes grave and under the same TombeStone with this inscription to bee cutt out in Roman Letters in the same Stone here lyes the bodyes of Thomas Baker and Mary his wife in hopes of a Joyfull resurrection at the Last day I doe hereby revoke and make void all former wills Legacies guifts and bequests by mee formerly made willed or bequeathed as for my worldly goods wherewith Allmighty God hath given mee I doe give and dispose thereof as followeth Item I give unto my sonne Roger Baker if hee be liveing and to come into England twenty shillings and A Gold Ring which I usually weare upon my finger with a seale and deaths head in the Seale with some bookes besides what hee hath already of myne Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne John Baker five pounds and all my wearing apparell Linnen and Woollen and doe acquitt him of all monys whatsoever due to mee by bond bill or Accounts Item my will and meaning is that there bee paid unto John Snow five pounds in full of a debt my said sonne John owes the said Snow Item I give and bequeath unto my sid sonne John Bakers three sonnes namely John Robert and Thomas the summe of fifty pounds to bee equally divided betweene them when they attaine to theire respective age of Twenty five yeares and if either of them the said John Robert and Thomas my Grandchildren shall happen to dye before hee or they atteyne the said age then the legacy or share of him soe dying shall remaine and bee paid to the Survivor or Survivours of them Item I give and bequeath unto my said sonne John Bakers three daughters I namely Grace Elizabeth and Edith to each of them five pounds to bee paid to them when they severally attaine the age of twenty five yeares or within Six monthes after their severall marriages which shall first happen and if any or either of them happen to decease before the Legacie shall become due then the Legacy of her soe dyeing shall remaine and bee paid to the Survivors or Survivor of them Item I give and bequeath unto my Loveing daughter Mary Cleeves one hundred and fifty pounds which she oweth mee upon two bonds Item whereas there will bee due frome mee unto my Sonn in Law Abraham Huse in short time after my decease one hundred pounds which mony my will and desire is may be paid him with what convenient speed may bee according an agreement made with him before hee married my daughter Item I give and bequeath unto my dauther Sith Huse five Children or soe many of them as shall bee liveing at the time of my decease twenty shillings a peice Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandsonne Thomas Bowan and to each of his Children that shall bee liveing at the time of my decease twenty shillings Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandsonn James Bowan and to each of his Children that shall bee liveing at the time of my decease twenty shillings Item I give unto my Grandaughter Mary Baker if liveing at the time of my decease twenty shillings Item I give unto Avice Streete my Grand daughter and unto her three sonns William Thomas and Henry five pounds a peece to bee paid them out of the interest mony theire Father William Streete oweth mee Item I give unto my Grandchild Mary Young all such goods which she hath in her handes of mine as is menconed in my booke of Account and to her three Children which she now hath or soe many of them as shall bee Liveing at the time of my decease five pounds apeice Item I give devise and bequeath unto my Grandchild John Cleeves all that my Messuage or Tenement with thappurtenances lying and being in the Towne and County of Poole aforesaid wherein his Mother the said Mary Cleeves now dwelleth which I purchased to mee and my heires of and from Thomas Luggs and John Veason to have and to hold the said messuage or Tenement from and after my decease and the decease of her the said Mary Cleeves unto him the said John Cleeves and to his heires for ever Item I likewise give and Devise unto my Grand children William Cleeves and Alice Cleeves and to their heires for ever all that my little house and Garden lying and being in the towne and County of Poole aforesaid which I purchased of my Father in Law David Tito adjoyning to the new Almeshouse in the west streete in Poole aforesaid Item all the rest of my goods rights Creditts and Chattles whatsoever not before herein by mee given or bequeathed my debts Legacies and funerall expences being first paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto them the said Alice Cleeves and William Cleeves my said Grandchildren whome I make Executrix and Executor of this my last will and testament and my will is that my said daughter Mary Cleeves shall act for my said Grandchildren and make use of my estate towards the maintenance and education of the said Alice and William untill the said Alice bee married and the said William attaine the age of five and twenty yeares and I doe nominate and appointe my liveing friends Henry Lewen of Wimborne Minister in the County of Dorsett gent and Mr John Fursman of Wareham in the said County of Dorsett Overseers of this my last will and testament desireing them to bee aiding and assisting unto my said Executrix and Executors in the due Execution and performance of this my will and in token of my love I give to each of my said Overseers five shillings besides what charges and expences they or either of them shall disburse and be putt unto in and aboute this my will to bee allowed them respectively by my Executrix and Executor In witnesse whereof I the said Thomas Baker have hereunto sett my hand and seale the fowerth day of June in the first & of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord James the second by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King defender of the faith &c Annoq Dni one thousand six hundred eighty and five Thomas Baker Signed
