I Edmund Ashby of Wellingborough
in the County of Northampton Gentleman being of sound and disposing 
Mind and Memory do make this my last Will and Testament in
manner and form following that is to say I recommend my Soul
into the Hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping for Salvation
through the alone Merits of my Saviour and Redeemer Jesus
Christ and my Body I commit to the Earth to be buried privately 
in a Vault in the Church belonging to the Parish where I
shall happen to die and my desire is that I may not have 
any Pall Bearers and that the Bearers who carry me to be
Buried may each only have five Shillings in Money and
as to my Worldly Estate I dispose of it as follows I give
devise and bequeath unto my dearly beloved Wife Elizabeth
Judith Ashby All my Estate right Title and Interest of in and
to certain Leasehold Lands Tenements and Hereditaments
with the Appurtenances situate and being in the Parish of 
East Knoyle in the County of Wilts called Chappel Farm
and now or late in the Tenure or Occupation of John
Sanger And likewise all my Estate Right Title and Interst 
of in and to certain other Leasehold Lands Tenements and
Hereditaments with the Appurtenances situate and being at
Coomb near Salisbury in the said County of Wilts and now
or late in the Tenure or Occupation of John Harwood To
Hold all and every the said Leasehold Lands Tenements and
Hereditaments with their and every of their Appurtenances 
unto my said Wife Elizabeth Judith Ashby and her Assigns 
for and during the Term of her natural Life and from and
after her decease my Will and Mind is that the same shall
descend and go unto my Son George Ashby and my Daughters 
Hannah and Mary Ashby their Heirs Executors Administrators
and Assigns in equal shares and I do hereby give devise and 
bequeath the same to them accordingly I give and bequeath 
all my Personal Estate and likewise all such Sum or Sums 
of Money that I already am or shall or may hereafter be intitled to 
in right of my said Wife by virtue of any Sum or Sums
given and bequeathed to her by any of her Friends or
Relations unto my said Wife Elizabeth Judith Ashby and do
hereby appoint her to be the Sole Executrix of this my last 
Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set
my Hand and seal the twenty first day of May in the Year
of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy  Edmd
Ashby  LS  Signed sealed Published and declared by the said 
Edmund Ashby as and for his last Will and Testament in
the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of 
each other have set our Names as Witnesses thereto  Thos
Halles  Frances Livesey  Charles Livesey

This Will was proved at London on the first day of 
February in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and
seventy five before the Right Worshipful Sir George Hay Knight


Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative
Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Elizabeth
Judith Ashby Widow the Relict of the deceased and Sole Exeutrix 
named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted 
of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said
deceased having been first sworn by Commission duly to
Administer
