Mathematical Challenge for Junior High School Students

Grades 7, 8 and 9

RULES

  1. Teachers should be prepared to certify that the student is enrolled in one of grades 7, 8 or 9.

  2. Students should certify that the entries are their own unaided work (calculators are permitted, but the use of computers is not). Students should understand exactly what this means.

  3. Students should be encouraged to work on their own time, and at home.

  4. The deadlines for entries, stated on the problem sheets, are the dates by which the entries must be postmarked. Late entries cannot be accepted.

  5. Entries by FAX will not be accepted - the transmission of hand written material does not result in clear copies.

  6. Entries by email will not be accepted.

  7. Up to four prizes will be awarded in each Challenge. Normally they will be apportioned to four areas of the province:

  8. The decision of the judging panel is final.

  9. If you have any questions, or need any clarification, please call Dr. Bruce Shawyer at 737-8787, or leave a message at 737-8784.

His email address is Bruce Shawyer <bshawyer@math.mun.ca>
