For the first two weeks of the semester, you can access all
WebAssign materials by simply setting up (or updating) your
WebAssign account. In order to continue availing of
WebAssign beyond the expiry of this "grace period", you must log
into your account and enter a WebAssign access code.
You can purchase a WebAssign access code from the University
Bookstore in two ways:
- as a standalone Single-Term access card
- as a bundle containing both a Multi-Term access card and a physical
copy of the Stewart, Clegg & Watson 9th edition textbook
Both options give you access to the e-book version of the Stewart, Clegg &
Watson 9th edition textbook. A Single-Term access card is valid for only
one course in one semester. A Multi-Term access card is valid for any
number of courses which use the Stewart, Clegg & Watson 9th edition
textbook, over any number of semesters. However, please
note that the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is currently
planning to transition from WebAssign to an alternative platform
after the Winter 2024 semester.
If you purchased a Single-Term access code in a previous semester, you
will need to purchase a new access code this semester. This is true
even if you are repeating the same course.
If you purchased a Multiterm access code for a different textbook edition,
you will need to purchase a new access code for the Stewart, Clegg
& Watson 9th edition textbook.
Based on current pricing at the University Bookstore, we suggest that a
student purchase one of the bundles if you expect to have three or more
registrations in the following courses: Math 1000, Math 1001, Math 2000,
Math 3202. (Note that homework is not assigned via WebAssign in
Math 2000 or Math 3202, but these courses normally use the Stewart, Clegg
& Watson 9th edition textbook.) However you should be aware that, once an
access code has been entered into WebAssign, refunds are not
available regardless of the number of semesters for which the code is
used, and codes are not transferable to other students.
You can also purchase an access code online via your WebAssign
account. However, the pricing available at the MUN Bookstore includes a
discount for Memorial University students which is not available through
any other means.
It is not possible to purchase WebAssign access without the e-book
version of the Stewart, Clegg & Watson 9th edition textbook.
If you purchased a WebAssign access code for the Stewart, Clegg &
Watson 9th edition textbook in a previous semester, and you no longer
recall whether this was a Single-Term or Multi-Term access code, you can
determine this based on whether WebAssign prompts you to "Get
Access Today" once you have updated your WebAssign account for this
semester's class (by entering the new Class Key). If no such prompt
appears, then you have Multi-Term access and will not need to purchase a
new access code. Otherwise, it means that you had previously purchased
Single-Term access and you will need a new access code this
semester.
