In honour of Professor Shui-Nee Chow's 60th birthday and his scientific achievements and leadership in nonlinear dynamics and analysis, we are organizing this international conference at Hunan University, Changsha, China, during July 12-16, 2003. The aim of this conference is to provide a forum on future directions of dynamics of evolution equations, among experts with different expertises, from different regions, and belonging to different age groups.
We plan to organize the conference in a way very much similar to the Oberwolfach style: (i) Talks are by invitation only. Every invited participant will be considered to have the opportunity to deliver a lecture should he/she indicate the desire and submit the title and abstract, and all talks will be of equal duration of time (approximately 40 minutes). Other formats including panel discussions and poster session for postdoec/graduate students may be possible according to the progress of the conference and the need of the participants. (ii) All participants shall be housed in the same location; (iii) Breakfast and lunch will be served with randomly selected seats to maximize the communication between participants (dinner will be left free in order for international participants to have chances to experience the rich culture of the Cultural city of Changsha);
Depending on the funding situation, we expect to be able to cover partial or full local cost for the invited participants who have such a need.
Right after the conference, we plan to organize a 3-4 days tour to the famous Zhang Jiajie National Forest Park at the participants' own cost.
