A special Vestry Meeting of which due notice was given during Divine
Service was held immediately after the said service on Tuesday Evening
March the Second 1880 @ a quarter to nine p.m. in St. Silas Church
English Harbour.

Thirty Eight pewholders present

Rev Walter R Smith presiding

Proposed by Mr Churchwarden Penny seconded by Mr Wm Bestone (Mark)
That Mr Robert Facey by Lay Reader for this Church and that the
Rev B Smith the Rural Dean be petitioned by the Curch Wardens & Congregation
to license Mr Facey to that office.     Carried unanimously.

The Church Wardens being then about to proceed to the Seal Fishery
at the request of the Minister chose two men to act as their substitutes
during their absence.

The People Warden chose Mr John Bestone (Mark) as his Substitute.

The Minister's Warden chose Mr Wm Penny Senr as his Substitute.

Mr Ch Warden Penny then requested to know whether or not the congregation
were willing to go to Trinity & fetch up (on the first opportunity) taking
the same on credit from Mr Stoneman, 500 feet of good inch board.
unanimously resolved that this be done.

The meeting closed with Prayer Singing the Doxology & the Blessing by
the Chairman.
