As for how I went about this task, I first extracted all of the Pike entries in the indices for Books 1 through 9, and then I searched each Book for these indexed entries. If there are non-indexed Pike entries, then I most likely would have missed them. Book 10 is not indexed, so for it I looked at each individual marriage record and extracted those where one of the parties had the Pike surname.
A large number of entries in Books 8-10 listed names as "Pike John" (for example); these entries I have reformatted to read as "John Pike" below. Listing all entries in the same format should make it easier to conduct searches for particular people. Aside from this reformatting of names and occasionally abbreviating "Church of England" to "Ch of England", I have tried to preserve all original spellings and abbreviations.
For the most part, the order in which the records are presented below corresponds to the order of their appearance in the indices, which sometimes appears to be haphazard in order. Exceptions are those for Books 5 and 7, for which the original records are not all on a single reel of microfilm, so I extracted all the entries from the first reel together and then those from the second reel together (the index order would have had me jumping back and forth between the two reels).
The original records were entered into ten books, beginning in 1891 and going up to 1926. Book 10 appears to not include any Pike entries from the district of Burin, so I'm not sure if all of Book 10 was actually microfilmed (each of the other books has Pike marriages from Burin).
If you came to this page directly, then you might want to know that I have additional information about the Pike families of Newfoundland on my website.
