Pike Family Bibles and other Pike Family Documents
Below I have begun to gather scans and photos of data written into
Pike family Bibles (especially those involving Pike families of Newfoundland) as well as other Pike family papers.
If you have a Pike family Bible with information
written in it, I would be glad to post a copy of it here... contact
me at dapike@mun.ca if
you want to add to this collection.
- Marriage Certificate and
Bible
for the family of Ed W Pike and Lorian Young, who resided at St. John's and then Toronto
(contributed by Heather Bishop)
- Bible and Descendancy Chart
for the family of Edward George Pike and Ellen Peck, who resided at Dalhousie NB and then Oconto Wisconsin
(although Edward is originally from Nfld).
Also available is a photo of Edward, Ellen, and 2 daughters (Martha (the tall one) and Alice).
(contributed by Frank Koch Jr)
July 2005 update: Frank has now sent scans of several additional photographs that were in a photo album that recently resurfaced:
- a woman that is described in a photo album as "Grandma Pike".
It is speculated that this might be Mary (nee Legge), wife of Francis Pike of Carbonear.
- three young women in a photo taken by E.Parsons of Harbour Grace.
It is speculated that these might be Emily, Fanny, and Eliza Pike (three daughters of Francis Pike and Mary Legge).
- two photos and the
back side of one of them, apparently showing one of Eliza's sisters
and her husband John Bemister
- John L. Pike, as stated on the
back side of the photograph (taken in St. John's)
- a family photo, with names written on the
back side along with "Victoria British Columbia"
- a family photo, with information on the
back side
indicating that it was taken on "Jimmy's wedding morn in front of the old home"
- Edward and John,
sons of Edward Pike and Ellen Peck
- Two pages of births
(first page,
second page) from Carbonear, recorded in the Bible of
George Pike (born 1877). It lists George and his siblings (children of William),
the children of George's uncle Richard (starting with Ambrose),
and then George's children.
(contributed by Philip S. Pike)
- In a letter written to me in 1989, Sophie Pike Coles Thistle wrote: "Our old Family Bible, where all
records were kept years ago, began with my grandfather & grandmother, Francis & Sophie Pike
(I was called after her) their six children were born in the 1850-70's."
Sophie's family
lived in Freshwater, Conception Bay. If anybody should happen to know the whereabouts of
this Bible, I would be pleased to here from you.
- A marriage record between John Chipman and Bessie Pike, both of Spaniard's Bay,
who were married in 1912 at Cambridge USA.
(contributed by Pamela and Steve Frisbie)
Descendants of John and Bessie are asked to contact Pamela at
pamelafrisbie@sbcglobal.net.
