I John Pyke of the parish of Stepney al[ia]s Stebenheath in the County
of Middlesex being aged Crasse and infirme of body but of good
sound and perfect mind and memory All Laud and praise be therefore
given to Almighty God And now from an assured sense of this fraile
and Transient Estate of man on Earth as for setting things in order for
prevention of differences after my decease as much as in ??????? Doe make
ordaine and publish my last will and Testament in manner and forme
following (that is to say) First and principally I comend my soule
to Almighty God my Creator hopeing to receive and enjoy Eternall
happynes through the meritts of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer
my body I comitt to the Earth to be decently buried att the discretion of my
Executor herein after nominated And as Touching such Temporall
Estate as it hath pleased the Lord to bestow upon me I give and dispose
thereof as followeth (viz) Inpris I give and bequeath unto my
daughter Elizabeth the now wife of John Deale the house I now live in
for and during all the time and terme of yeares therein to come and
unexpired if she my said daughter shall soe long live And from and
after her decease to my Grandson John Deale their same But in case my
said daughter Elizabeth and my said Grandson John Deale shall dye before
the expiration of Terme therein       I will the same To the Eldest
Child of my said daughter Elizabeth which shall be then living Item I
give and bequeath unto my said daughter Elizabeth Deale the summe of
Thirty pounds of lawfull English moneyes to be paid within one yeare
after my decease And alsoe all my household goods and woollen and Lynnen
(my Plate excepted) Item I give and bequeath unto my said Grandson
John Deale the sume of Thirdy pounds of like lawfull moneys whereof Tenn
pounds to put him out Apprentice And the remaining Twenty pounds
att the expiration of his said Apprentiship And if in case he shall happen
to depart this mortall life either before he be bound or before the expiration

my said daughter Elizabeth Item I give and bequeath unto my Brother
Thomas Pyke the sume of Twenty pounds of lawfull English moneys within
one yeare next after my decease to be paid Item I give and bequeath unto
my Brother Edward Pyke the sume of five shillings of like lawfull moneys
within one yeare after my decease If the same shall be demanded Item
I give and bequeath unto my neice Ann Pyke daughter of my Brother
Thomas Pyke the sume of Thirty pounds of lawfull English moneys
within one yeare next happening after my decease to be paid Item I
give and bequeath unto my nephew John Pyke son of my Brother Thomas
Pyke the sume of Twenty pounds of like lawfull moneys to be paid within
one yeare after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my nephew
William Pyke son of my said Brother Thomas the sume of fifty pounds of
like lawfull moneys And that the same be paid unto him when and assoon
as he shall arrive unto the age of one and Twenty yeares And he to receive
interest for the same from and after one yeare next happening after
my decease during his minority Item I give and bequeath unto my nephew
Thomas Pyke son of my     Brother Thomas Pyke the sume of Thirty pounds
of lawfull English moneys (viz) Tenn pounds thereof to put him out Ap=
prentice And Twenty pounds to him when his time is out Item I give and
bequeath unto my neice Elizabeth Pyke daughter of my said Brother Tho=
mas Pyke the sume of Twenty pounds to be paid within one yeare next
happening after my decease Item I give unto my sister Anne the now
wife of my said Brother Thomas Pyke the sume of Tenn pounds of lawfull
English moneys to be paid within one yeare next happening after my
decease Item I give and bequeath unto my Cousin Henry Hawkins the
sume of five pounds of like money And to my Couzin John Hawkins the
sume of Tenn pounds of like moneys Item I give unto my friend Eliza=
beth Lathrum daughter of Joane Lathrum the sume of five pounds of
like moneys All Three Legacies last mentioned to be paid within one yeare
next happening after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my
servant Elizabeth Cotten my Apprentice The sume of five pounds Currt
To be paid unto her att the expiration of her Apprentiship Item I give
and bequeath unto my man Francis Burgis the sume of five pounds
within one yeare next happening after my decease Item I give and
bequeath unto my Two friends (viz) John Cartwright Cittizen and weaver
of London and John Clifton of Shoreditch parish Baskettmaker the sume
of Tenn pounds of lawfull English money apiece to each of them And
I appoint the said John Cartwright and Jno Clifton Joynt and onely
Executors of this my last will and Testament And in case my Estate
shall happen by bad debts or otherwise To fall short to answere this
my will Then and in such case I will that each of my said Legatees doe
abate of his and her Legacies in proportion soe to make up such losse And
I doe hereby Revoake renounce and make utterly void all and every former
and other will and wills Testament and Testaments by be att any time
heretofore made either by word or writing And declare and appoint
this this onely my last will and Testament and none after In
witnes whereof I the said John Pyke The Testator have hereunto sett
my hand and affixed my seale this fourteenth day of October Anno
