In the Name of God Amen
I James Pyke of Upper Moorfields in the Parish of Saint
Leonard Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex Silk Dyer
being of sound and disposing Mind and Memory do make
and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and
form following First I recommend my Soul into the Hands 
of God Almighty and hope for Salvation through the Merits
of my blessed Redeemer Jesus Christ And as to my temporal
Estate I dispose thereof as follows that is to say I name
constitute and appoint my loveing Sister Mary Cooper 
the Wife of William Cooper of Newgate Street London 
Weaver sole Executrix of this my Will And I give to my
loveing Sister Elizabeth Norton Wife of Thomas Norton 


of Welford in Northamptonshire Husbandman the Sum of
fifty Pounds to be paid to her within twelve Months next
after my decease upon her own single and separate 
Receipt which shall be a sufficient discharge to my said
Executrix for the same notwithstanding her Coverture
Also I give to the said William Cooper and my said Executrix 
his Wife the Sum of one hundred pounds In Trust to lay
out and invest the same in their joint Names in the
purchase of some of the publick Funds or Government Secu-
-rities And to transferr and Assign the Capital therof to
my Nephew Thomas Pyke one of the sons of my late Brother 
William Pyke at his Age of twenty one Years And in the
mean time to pay or apply the Interest and Dividends
thereof towards his Maintenance and Education Also I give
to my Nephews and Neices James Pyke John Pyke Elizabeth
Pyke and Mary Watson (the Wife of    Watson Baker)
other children of my said late Brother William Pyke the
sum of fifty pounds each to be paid to them respectively 
within twelve Months next after my Decease Also I give
to my Nephew William Pyke (another son of my said late
Brother William Pyke) and to Sarah his Wife the Sum of
five pounds each for Mourning Also I give to Mr James
Kedwell and Catherine his Wife and to my Servants Edmund
Lee and Alexander Caldecott one Guinea each for a Ring 
And I Give and Bequeath all the Rest and Residue of my Estate
and Effects of what Nature or kind soever and wheresoever
(after payment of all my just Debts and Funeral Expences) unto
my said Sister and Executrix Mary Cooper her Executors 
Administrators and Assigns to and for her and their own
proper Use and Benefit for ever not doubting but that She
my said Sister Mary and her said Husband will leave or
give some part thereof after their deaths (in case thir son
James shall happen to dye before them) to my said Sister
Elizabeth Norton or her Family and to all or some of my
other Relations herein named which however I leave
entirely to my said Sister Mary and her said Husbands
own discretion I revoke all former Wills and Testamentary
dispositions by me at any time heretofore made And In
Testimony that this is my last Will and Testament I have 
hereunto set my Hand and seal this eighteenth day of July
in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty
James Pyke  Signed sealed published and declared by 
the said Testator James Pyke as and for his last Will and
Testament in the presence of John Parry  Thos Upton

This Will was proved at London the 
twentieth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and fifty one before the Worshipfull
Robert Chapman Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the right
Worshipfull John Bettesworth also Doctor of Laws Master
Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury


lawfully constituted by the Oath of Mary Cooper (Wife of
William Cooper) the sole Executrix in the said Will named
to whom Administration was granted of all and singular
the Goods chattels and Credits of the said Deceased being
first sworn duly to administer


On the twenty eighth day of June 1766
admon (with the will annexed) of the Goods
Chattels and Credits of James Pyke late of
the Parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in
the County of Middlesex deceased left unadmrd
by Mary Cooper (Wife of William Cooper) the
sole Executrix and residuary legatee named
in the said Will now also deceased was granted
to James Cooper the natural and lawful son 
only next of kin and administrator of the 
Goods of the said Mary Cooper deceased he
having been first sworn duly to administer
