I Ann Pyke of Southampton Row in the Parish of Saint
George Bloomsbury in the County of Middlesex Widow do
make my last Will and Testament in manner following
First I commend my Soul to Almighty Gody hoping for
Salvation through the Merits of my blessed Saviour Jesus
Christ and I direct   I may be buried in the Grave with
my late Dear Husband John Pyke in the Chancel of the
Parish Church of Birdbrooke in the County of Essex and I
desire my Body may be kep as long as it can be without
Offence before it is buried and that I may not be laid out
						    under


under Twelve hours after I am dead and that no more
than a Hearse and two Coaches attend my Funeral and as
to my Worldly Estate which God hath been pleased to bless
me with I dispose thereof as follows I will and direct that
all my just Debts be fully paid and satisfied and I hereby
charge all my Estate with the payment thereof And I give
and bequeath unto Thomas Pyke of Red Lyon Street Holborn
Esquire Brother of my said late dear  Husband John
Pyke the sum of Five hundred pounds and Twenty guineas
for Mourning And I give and bequeath unto the said Thomas 
Pyke and to Charles Wade of the Custom House the sum of
Five hundred pounds Three per cent Bank annuitys
reduced (part of the Three per cent Bank annuitys
reduced now standing in my Name) In Trust for Thomas
Walford only son of Thomas Walford late of Whatley in
the said parish of Birdbrooke deceased to be transferred to
the said Thomas Walford at his age of Twenty one years
and I do direct that the Interest or Dividends thereof in
the mean time half yearly as the same becomes due and is
paid shall be paid and applied by the said Thomas
Pyke and Charles Wade for or towards the Maintenance 
and Education of the said Thomas Walford And in case the
said Thomas Walford shall dye before he attains his age
of Twenty one years Then the said Five hundred pounds
Three per cent Bank Annuitys reduced is to fall into the
residue of my personal Estate And I give and bequeath
unto the said Thomas Pyke and Charles Wade the sum of
Five hundred pounds Three per Cent Bank Annuitys
reduced (other part of my Three per Cent Bank Annuitys
reduced) In Trust for Elizabeth Walford sister of the said
Thomas Walford the son to be transferred to her at her 
age of Twenty one years and I direct that in the mean
time the Interest or Dividends thereof half yearly as the
same becomes due and is paid shall be paid and applyed 
by the said Thomas Pyke and Charles Wade for or towards 
the Maintenance and Education of the said Elizabeth Walford 
and in case the said Elizabeth Walford shall dye before she
attains her age of Twenty one years Then the said Five 
hundred pounds Three per Cent Bank Annuitys reduced is 
to fall into the residue of my personal Estate and I give to
the said Elizabeth Walford my two best Gowns and two
best Suits of Laced Bead Cloaths and I give to Mrs Elizabeth
Piper Mother of the said Thomas and Elizabeth Walford
the Sum of Twenty pounds To Heatley Carew of Chelsea in
the said County of Middlesex Esquire Twenty guineas To
Mrs Alice Banks sister of the said Heatley Carew
Twenty guineas To Jane Banks daughter of the said Alice
Banks Twenty guineas To my very good Friend Mrs Wade
wife of the said Mr Charles Wade of the Custom House
Twenty guineas for a Ring And I give unto my Cousin John
Kindon of Club Row Spittlefields Barber and perriwig
maker son of my uncle William Kindon of Mercers Court


in Tower Street Barber and Perriwigmaker the sum of Five
hundred pounds and I give and bequeath unto the said Thomas
Pyke and Charles Wade the sum of Three thousand five hundred
pounds Three per cent Bank Annuitys reduced (other part of my
Three per Cent Bank Annuitys reduced) In trust to receive the
Interest or Dividends thereof and to pay and apply the same
half yearly as the same becomes due and is paid in manner
following (that is to say) To my said Uncle William Kindon
Forty pounds a year during his life clear of Taxes and any
other Deductions whatsoever To Ann Manswell wife of William
Mansell of Fulham Gardiner Twenty pounds a year during her 
life clear of Taxes or any other Deductions whatsoever for her
own proper use and benefit and not to be subject to her present
or any after Husband's debts or controul and her Receipt alone
to be a good discharge to the said Trustees for the same To
Mary Halliss sister of the said Ann Mansell Twenty pounds 
a year for her life clear of Taxes or any other Deductions
whatsoever And to Benjamin Halliss of Cold Bath Feilds their
Brother Twonety pounds a year for his life clear of Taxes or
any other Deductions whatsoever And to pay the residue of the
Interest or Dividends of the said Three thousand five hundred
pounds Three per cent Bank Annuitys reduced to my Executor
and residuary Legatee hereafter named And it is my will and
I do hereby direct that it shall and may be lawfull to and for
the said Thomas Pyke and Charles Wade as any of the said 
Annuitants dye to transfer to my said Executor and residuary
Legatee so much of the said Three thousand five hundred
pounds Three per Cent Bank Annuitys reduced as the Interest thereof
would have answered and paid the Annuitys of the respective 
Annuitants so dying leaving always sufficient to answer and
pay the remainder of the said Annuitys and the said Trustees
Costs and Charges And I give to the said Mr Charles Wade
for his trouble in the aforesaid Trusts the sum of Fifty Guineas
and I give to the said Ann Mansell and Mary Halliss all
the rest of my wearing Apparel both Linnen and Woollen to
be equally divided between them And I give to all my
servants that shall be living with me at the time of my death
Five pounds apeice And I desire there may be given the day
after I am buried to the poor of Birdbrooke Ten pounds and
I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of
my Goods Chattels and personal Estate whatsoever and
wheresoever not herein otherwise disposed of unto the said
Thomas Pyke to and for his own use and benefit and it is 
my Will and I do hereby direct that my said Trustees shall
be allowed and reimbursed all their costs charges and Expences
whatsoever any ways relating to or concerning the Trusts 
aforesaid hereby in them reposed and be fully indemnified
out of my Estate And that they shall not be answerable for any
Loss that my happen nor for any more money than shall
actually come to their hands respectively And I make constitute
and appoint the said Thomas Pyke sole Executor of this my 
Will and I hereby revoke all former Wills by me made In Witness


whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set my
hand and Seal this Twenty Eighth day of March in the year of
our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty one Ann
Pyke Signed sealed published and declared by the said
Testatrix Ann Pyke as and for her last Will and Testament in
the presence of us who in her presence and at her request
and in the presence of each other have subscribed our
names as Witnesses thereto  Wm Perkins  Richd Cramlington

I Ann Pyke desire at my death that Mr
Tweed of Stoke may have Two hundred pounds and his
sister Mrs Vilers Two hundred pounds His sister Ann
Tweed two hundred pounds James Walford of Sturmer 
Two hundred pounds To Ann Swan wife to Owen Swan
of Hemsted and sister to James Walford Two hundred
pounds and to his other sister Elizabeth Walford two
hundred pounds and that my Cousin John Kindon may
have Five hundred pounds of lawful money, not as it
stands in the Stocks as mentioned in my Will I desire 
Elizabeth Walford daughter of Thomas Walford may
have all my best Cloaths of all Sorts and the rest to
Elizabeth Shores my Maid if living with me at the time
of my death as Witness my hand this 14 November 1761
Ann Pike

I desire that Mr and Mrs Wade may have one hundred
pounds apeice instead of that left in my Will and to Mr
Watley 10 Guineas to buy him a Ring and to William
Kindo Grandson to my uncle Kindon Two hundred pounds
a Fisher man Ann Pike

If Elizabeth Shores be living with me at the time of my
Death I desire she may have 20 pounds

This Will was proved at London with a
Codicil the twenty second day of February in the year of
our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty two
before the Worshipfull George Harris Doctor of Laws and
Surrogate of the Right Worshipfull Sir Edward Simpson 
Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of
the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted
by the Oath of Thomas Pyke Esquire the sole Executor
named in the said Will to whom Administration was
granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of
the deceased having been first sworn duly to administer
